Beneath the Red Dragon

Even though autumn had arrived, the vast grassland showed no signs of withering, allowing this fertile land to nurture numerous races.

Green Dragon Ali and Blue Dragon Carlette lay atop a low hill on the grassland, crushing the lush wild grass and thorns beneath them.

Surrounding them were docile and tamed two-legged flying dragons. The flying dragon riders sat quietly next to their mounts, wiping the blades of their Long Sabers, while replenishing food and water.

Beside the low hill, on the continuous mounds, several high watchtowers stood atop the mounds, with many Kobold sentinels observing the surroundings of the grassland from the towers.

The morning sunlight pierced through the dense clouds, casting beams and patches of light upon the lakes on the grassland, making those lakes resemble mirrors embedded in the earth.

Autumn on the grassland was relatively dry, so many fine dust particles danced in the light beams. However, the Blue Dragons preferred this drier environment, as it made their scales even more dazzling.

Compared to the beautiful scales of Blue Dragon Carlette, the scales of Green Dragon Ali appeared somewhat duller at this moment. Even though the Dragon Group had never treated her harshly, this Green Dragon’s body was gradually wasting away.

It was unknown whether Green Dragon Ali herself was aware of this change, but at least at this moment, the Green Dragon had no worries about her physical condition.

The Green Dragon used the hooked claws on her wings to pick at her fangs, which were stained with blood and bits of flesh. The wealth of the Dragon Group Territory far exceeded this Wild Dragon’s imagination. On the grassland, she could feast to her heart’s content without any concern about threats from other creatures.

This was a sense of satisfaction and security never experienced in her former wandering life.

"Burp," Green Dragon Ali belched contentedly, turning her head towards Blue Dragon Carlette, who was also cleaning the traces of her meal, and said, "Carlette, why don’t we abandon direct confrontation with those Beastman Army and instead raid the Beastman’s lair, burn it down, and plunder their treasures? Their young and strong have all ventured out, their lair surely cannot withstand the punishment of a Giant Dragon!"

In recent days, Blue Dragon Carlette and Green Dragon Ali led a legion of over a hundred flying dragons to scout from the air the Beastman Tribe armies, which had been incited and united by the Beastman Kingdom, and every night, when the Beastman Tribe Alliance Army camped, they would harass and raid.

Burning the tents and food supplies of the Beastman Alliance and driving away the herds of horses and sheep used as reserve food and tools, killing unsuspecting Beastman sentinels and warriors.

Although there was no direct battle, ten or so flying dragons were still lost.

The Beastmen on the grassland lacked the capability for large-scale production of ironware and well-crafted arrows, but through trade with the Beastman Kingdom, they gained some supplies, trading fur and livestock for weapons, which were then resold into the Dragon Group Territory.

Moreover, the Great Chief of the Beastman Tribe Alliance was a remarkably powerful warrior. The once-active Red Dragon Kleyna used to enjoy flying into the Beastman Tribe to challenge strong warriors.

But even with Kleyna’s character, she never challenged the Beastman Chieftain Detan An. Although Chieftain Detan An somewhat feared the power of the Dragon Group, if the young Red Dragon rashly challenged this chieftain’s authority, she might be directly killed without hesitation.

Hearing this, Blue Dragon Carlette paused her actions, her long neck twisting as her delicate head turned toward Green Dragon Ali, gazing into the pale green pupils of the green dragon. Behind those vertical pupils, the iris of the Green Dragon clearly revealed a desire for deception.

The Green Dragon species was always thinking of ways to manipulate others, making others act according to their wishes, a trait especially detested by other Giant Dragons.

"This is the plan set by Chiron, to defeat the Beastmen whose morale has been affected here. We cannot abandon our own legion,"

Blue Dragon Carlette said calmly, her gaze flashing with disdain toward the Green Dragon. The self-congratulatory yet short-sighted Green Dragon completely misunderstood the priorities, acting just like an ordinary Giant Dragon following her own whims.

But she didn’t want her mission obstructed and desperately needed some achievements to prove her capability and worth, so she patiently explained to the Green Dragon.

"Not far behind us is the salt and mining fields of the Dragon Group, and closer to the mountains is the herd and Beast Garden. These are crucial supplies for the Dragon Group Territory to sustain a prolonged war, and cannot fall to the Beastmen,"

The small and long horns on Blue Dragon Carlette’s snout appeared particularly delicate, and her head was glossier and more elegantly lined compared to the Green Dragon’s.

"The Beastman Kingdom’s legion exceeds a hundred thousand, and those Fishmen from the deep sea outnumber the Beastmen. This war won’t be short-lived, so the grassland supplies are vital for the Territory,"

Blue Dragon Carlette’s blue dragon claw slapped the ground beneath her, venting her inner frustration, lest she would involuntarily place her dragon claw on the Green Dragon’s head.

"But we are Dragons; how can we follow the orders of that Centaur? We should be in control, and that Centaur doesn’t even show us any genuine respect,"

The Green Dragon bared her fangs in dissatisfaction, her mind conjuring the image of the terrifying Centaur Legion Commander. His body covered in scales like fresh blood, muscles like steel, a tail like a Giant Dragon’s, full of sharp teeth, and an overwhelming aura.
