Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 158: Plans

GRAVITY CHAMBER READY - 11:35 PM

Rene approached carefully, her laboratory body moving with the kind of precise controlled motion that made Orion intensely jealous because she could walk without destroying things, she could pick up objects without crushing them, she had the control he desperately needed.

She helped him stand up from the crater with gentle guidance, treating him like someone who might explode at any moment, and led him to a clear area away from expensive equipment and fragile walls.

"Then we train," she said with quiet confidence that cut through his despair like a knife through fog, "systematically, methodically, until control becomes instinctive, until the power serves you instead of overwhelming you, until you can walk down a street without destroying it, until you can shake someone’s hand without crushing their bones, until you master this enhancement completely."

She gestured toward another section of the underground complex, and Orion could see through the walls—his vision still refusing to be blocked by solid matter—to where the gravity chamber stood complete, brand new, pristine and ready.

"Also," Rene continued with satisfaction evident in her tone, "the gravity chamber is ready—assembled, tested, calibrated, and waiting for you—would you like to test it now and begin training immediately?"

Orion shook his head slowly, suddenly feeling the weight of the day, of the enhancement, of the constant testing and constant failure pressing down on him like physical mass. "No," he said with exhaustion making his words heavy, "let’s do it tomorrow morning—my brain is exhausted from trying to control my body after all those extensive tests, and I need rest, proper rest, before I can focus on training properly."

"I need to sleep," he continued, "need to let my enhanced brain consolidate everything that happened today, process the changes, adapt to the new reality, and then tomorrow I’ll be ready to begin training in earnest."

"Understood," Rene said with immediate acceptance, "I’ll prepare comprehensive training scenarios for the morning session—fine motor control exercises, sensory filtering protocols, movement control drills, everything you need to achieve mastery systematically rather than through trial and error."

PLANNING SESSION - MIDNIGHT

Rene carefully carried Orion to his study because walking there himself would involve destroying at least three walls and probably several pieces of furniture, literally carrying him like a child despite his adult body and supernatural weight, her enhanced robotic strength making it easy even though he massed considerably more than a normal human thanks to denser bones and muscles.

She set him down with exaggerated gentleness in his desk chair, and the chair creaked ominously under the impact—crack—but survived, the wood protesting but holding, and relief flooded through Orion that was embarrassingly intense because not destroying a chair shouldn’t feel like a major victory but given his track record it absolutely did.

"We need a training schedule," he said with determination replacing the exhaustion, "systematic progression from basic control to advanced mastery, clear goals at each stage, measurable progress so I can track improvement instead of just flailing around hoping things get better."

Rene pulled up a holographic display that filled the air between them with glowing text and diagrams, organized information that she’d apparently been preparing while they tested because of course she had, because Rene was efficient like that.

"I’ve prepared preliminary recommendations based on your current control deficits," she said, and the display reorganized into categories.

LONG TERM (NEXT WEEK):

The final section showed advanced objectives:

BUSINESS DELEGATIONS:

A separate section appeared showing organizational structure:

"I can’t be involved in day-to-day operations right now," Orion said firmly, the words coming out with absolute conviction despite the exhaustion, "I need complete focus on mastering these abilities—every minute spent on business decisions is a minute not spent learning control, and learning control is literally life-or-death important because without it I’m a walking natural disaster."

The delegation structure appeared:

Rene: All technology deployment, manufacturing coordination, subsidiary oversight, Mark III operations, research direction, innovation development

Authority: Complete for all technical decisionsReporting: Daily summaries to Orion, decisions made independentlyScope: Technology, manufacturing, R&D, innovation

Cassia: Government negotiations, licensing agreements, public relations, strategic business decisions, political navigation, Federation coordination

Authority: Complete for all business and political decisionsReporting: Daily summaries, major decisions only require Orion inputScope: Business, politics, public image, partnerships

Dr. Martinez: Manufacturing oversight, research division management, Mark III quality control, production scheduling, facility management

Authority: Complete for operational decisionsReporting: Weekly to Cassia, daily to ReneScope: Day-to-day manufacturing and research operations

Subsidiary CEOs: Independent division operation, strategic planning within scope, hiring and staffing, product development

Authority: Complete within their divisionsReporting: Monthly to Cassia for major strategic decisionsScope: Division-specific operations (Medical, Energy, Space, etc.)

"You’ll receive daily summaries," Rene confirmed, the organizational chart glowing in the air, "brief status updates that take no more than five minutes to review, but you won’t need to make decisions unless something is absolutely critical—catastrophic failure, major threat, unprecedented opportunity, that kind of thing."

"Your focus is training and advancement," she continued with emphasis that made it clear this was not negotiable, "the company runs itself now—we have the structure, the people, the systems, and the technology to operate independently, and frankly you’re more valuable to everyone by becoming stronger than by attending meetings."

"Perfect," Orion said with relief so intense it was almost physical, the weight of business responsibility lifting from his shoulders, "then tomorrow we begin—systematic training, methodical progression, master this power completely, and only then advance to the next ring."

He stood up carefully from the chair, moving with exaggerated slowness, managing not to destroy it this time which felt like a minor miracle.

"I need sleep," he said, exhaustion making his words slightly slurred, "real sleep, deep sleep, let my enhanced brain process everything that happened today and consolidate the changes and adapt to the new reality."

"I’ll wake you at 7 AM," Rene said with efficient planning already evident in her tone, "which gives you seven hours of rest—training begins at 7:30 AM sharp, gravity chamber will be calibrated and ready, first session will focus on fine motor control because that’s the foundation everything else builds on."

"7 AM. Training at 7:30. Fine motor control first." Orion repeated the schedule like a mantra, committing it to memory. "I’ll be ready."

He walked carefully toward his bedroom, each step measured and controlled, still moving too fast but better than before, learning incrementally, adapting gradually, and by tomorrow he’d be better still.

Tomorrow the real work began.

Tomorrow he’d start mastering this power properly.

Tomorrow he’d begin the transformation from powerful-but-useless to actually-capable.

But tonight—sleep. Rest. Recovery. Preparation.

The future was being built, one small improvement at a time.
