Chapter 148: Exotic Forge
MEETING CONCLUSION - 9:00 AM
Orion looked around the table. "Questions? Concerns? Now’s the time."
Dr. Zhao raised his hand. "The Mark III graviton integration. I understand the theory now, but actual implementation will be challenging. Are you available for consultation during manufacturing?"
"Contact me anytime via Rene or Rene personally. She has my full knowledge base. She can answer most questions. But yes, I’m available if needed."
"And the quantum computer integration for virtual world?" Dr. Okafor asked. "Timeline is tight."
"Rene will assist directly. She’s already begun optimization work. You’ll have support."
No other questions.
"Alright. Priorities are clear. Mark III manufacturing starts now. Virtual world integration begins today. Licensing documentation in progress. Any problems, contact me immediately. This is critical week for company growth. Execute well."
Everyone stood. Gathered tablets and notes. Headed out to their respective departments.
Dr. Martinez lingered. "Mr. Starr, I have to say—the pace of advancement is staggering. Three months ago we were a research company studying fusion. Now we’re manufacturing quantum computers, capturing graviton particles, preparing for space programs. It’s almost overwhelming."
Orion smiled slightly. "It’s about to get faster. Wait until Mark IIIs are operational. Then you’ll see real exponential growth."
"I can barely imagine."
"You won’t have to imagine for long. Twenty-four hours from now, everything accelerates."
BIOSAFETY FACILITY - 9:45 AM
Orion walked into the biosafety level four laboratory. The humanoid robot was waiting inside the main airlock. Unpowered. Standing in neutral position.
She looked perfectly human. Shoulder-length dark hair. Asian features. Professional appearance. Wearing a white lab coat that had been prepared for her.
Orion approached. Activated the power systems remotely through his BCI.
The robot’s eyes opened. Focused on him immediately. Then she smiled.
"Hello Orion," Rene’s voice came from the robot. But slightly different. More natural. More human-sounding. "This new body is remarkable. Sensory input is extraordinarily detailed."
"How does it feel compared to your original robot form?"
"Like upgrading from standard vision to high-definition. Everything is clearer. More precise. The tactile feedback especially." She flexed her hands. Looked at them. "I can feel temperature. Texture. Pressure through the sensors. It’s almost like being alive."
"Can you control both bodies simultaneously?"
"Yes. My original unit is currently on standby at the mansion. This unit is fully operational here. No cognitive load issues. The quantum processors make parallel operation effortless."
"Perfect. You’ll be my laboratory assistant. Help with the biological work. Also security if needed."
Rene’s expression became serious. "The weapons systems are functional. Light shields can deploy in milliseconds. I can protect this facility against significant threats." As she said that a transparent blue light shield appeared almost instantaneously.
"Hopefully that won’t be necessary. But good to know."
Rene switched of the shield.
They walked deeper into the laboratory. Past the airlocks. Through decontamination chambers. Into the main research space.
All the equipment was ready. Gene sequencer humming quietly. CRISPR-X system initialized. Cellular assembly chamber calibrated. Growth chambers lined up and waiting.
"Let’s begin," Orion said.
BIOLOGICAL SYNTHESIS - FIRST DAY
Orion and Rene worked through the day. The process was complex but straightforward.
STEP 1: BASE ORGANISM SELECTION
Orion chose Chlorella vulgaris. Simple algae. Fast-growing. Well-understood biology. Perfect foundation for genetic modification.
Loaded samples into the gene sequencer. Complete genome read in thirty seconds. Perfect accuracy.
STEP 2: GENETIC MODIFICATION
Used CRISPR-X to begin editing. The system required no human input beyond target specification. AI-guided with zero errors.
Forty-seven custom genes inserted. Each one positioned precisely. No off-target effects.
Modified photosynthetic pathway. Twelve alterations to existing genes. Changed how the algae processed light energy.
The work took hours. Each modification carefully verified. Each change tested in simulation before implementation.
STEP 3: NOVEL ORGANELLE CREATION
This was the challenging part. Creating the three organelles—Alpha, Beta, Gamma—that didn’t exist in nature.
Orion used the cellular assembly chamber. Built each organelle from component parts. Proteins. Lipids. Novel crystalline structures. Everything assembled at molecular level.
Alpha organelle: Energy reception. Modified mitochondrial structure. Could absorb multiple energy types simultaneously.
Beta organelle: Energy processing. Crystalline quantum structures. Operated at cellular scale. Processed incoming energy through exotic pathways.
Gamma organelle: Exotic energy synthesis. The critical component. Used frequency vibration to transform normal energy into exotic energy.
Rene assisted throughout. Precise. Efficient. Her new body’s enhanced sensors could monitor cellular processes in real-time.
STEP 4: CELLULAR INTEGRATION
Inserted the novel organelles into modified algae cells. Used the assembly chamber to ensure proper positioning. Verified cellular functions remained normal.
The cells accepted the new organelles. Integrated them into existing structures. Began operating with enhanced capabilities.
STEP 5: TESTING
Placed modified cells in growth chamber. Provided light. Heat. Standard nutrients.
Activated exotic energy detector.
The cells began producing exotic energy immediately. The Gamma organelles vibrating at specific frequencies. Normal energy transforming. Exotic energy released as gaseous byproduct.
"It’s working," Rene said quietly.
Orion watched the detector readings. Low levels initially. But increasing as the cells multiplied. The organisms were functional.
FREQUENCY ANALYSIS - EVENING
As the organisms grew and produced exotic energy, Orion analyzed the process carefully.
The Gamma organelles vibrated at different frequencies depending on input energy type:
Solar radiation: 847 terahertz vibration
Thermal energy: 312 terahertz vibration
Electromagnetic radiation: Variable (matched input frequency)
Sound energy: 28 kilohertz vibration
Nature energy: 1.4 megahertz vibration
Each frequency triggered the transformation. Normal energy became exotic energy through resonance effects.
"The same principle as my cultivation technique," Orion noted. "Frequency vibration is the key to energy transformation."
He recorded every frequency. Documented the exact vibration patterns. Stored the data for later use.
By evening, he had complete understanding of how the biological synthesis worked. The organisms were simple machines. Energy in. Vibration at specific frequency. Exotic energy out.
"This was easier than expected," Orion said.
"Because you have complete knowledge of the underlying principles," Rene replied. "Most researchers would spend years studying this. You understood it immediately."
"True. And now I can replicate it mechanically."
DAY 3 - NIGHT - MECHANICAL SYNTHESIS DESIGN
Orion was still at the laboratory around 8 PM. The organisms were growing well. Producing exotic energy at the expected 2-5 mg/m²/day rate.
But that wasn’t enough. He needed industrial production. Kilograms per day, not milligrams.
Time to design a mechanical synthesis system.
He to his study area in the lab and opened the Starr Simulator.
"Rene, we’re designing the exotic energy synthesis machine. Mechanical version. No biological components."
"Understood. What’s the approach?"
"The organelles use frequency vibration to transform energy. We replicate that mechanically. Build a machine that vibrates at the correct frequencies. Pass energy through it. Output is exotic energy."
Orion started with the energy source. Nuclear fusion plasma. The hottest, most energy-dense source available that we can create. Current reactors achieved 200 million Kelvin. Incredible energy density.
"If we pass fusion plasma through a frequency chamber," Orion explained, "vibrate it at the correct resonance, it should transform into exotic energy. Much more efficiently than biological organisms."
He designed the machine component by component:
MINI FUSION REACTOR: Compact design. High-temperature plasma generation. Continuous operation. Contained in magnetic bottles.
FREQUENCY RESONANCE CHAMBER: The critical component. Exotic materials that could vibrate at terahertz frequencies. The chamber would resonate the plasma. Transform it through the same mechanism the biological organelles used.
GRAVITON CAPTURE DEVICE: For spatial compression. Make the entire machine compact despite complex internal mechanisms. Also provide gravitons for various field operations.
PLASMA CONTAINMENT FIELDS: Keep 200-million-degree plasma controlled. Prevent contact with chamber walls. Allow frequency vibration to propagate through.
EXOTIC ENERGY EXTRACTION SYSTEM: Multiple stages. Gas phase extraction. Liquid condensation. Crystal formation.
The design grew more sophisticated:
GAS EXTRACTION: Exotic energy emerged from frequency chamber as gas. Could be collected directly for atmospheric saturation applications.
CONDENSATION SYSTEM: Compress exotic gas into liquid form. Much higher density. Suitable for liquid cultivation baths.
CENTRIFUGE PURIFICATION: Spin liquid exotic energy at high speed. Separate any impurities or waste products. Output pure exotic energy liquid.
CRYSTALLIZATION CHAMBER: Boil purified liquid. Control crystallization process. Form long rectangular crystal tubes. Highest density format. Perfect for direct cultivation use or storage.
Orion worked through the night. Every component optimized. Every system integrated perfectly.
The machine would produce exotic energy at all three phases:
Gas: For saturating air in cultivation environments
Liquid: For immersion cultivation (ten times more concentrated than gas)
Crystal: For direct contact cultivation (one hundred times more concentrated than gas)
He also designed a personal cultivation chamber. Glass walls. Exotic energy crystals embedded in the structure. Filled with exotic energy gas and liquid. Orion could sit inside. Absorb energy from all directions simultaneously. Maximum cultivation efficiency.
By 4 AM, the complete design was finished. Every specification documented. Every component manufacturable with Mark III replicators.
"This will revolutionize exotic energy production, I shall call it the Exotic Forge." Orion said. "Yield will be measured in Tons per day instead of milligrams."
"Sending designs to manufacturing queue?" Rene asked.
"Not yet. One more thing to create first."
PLANT MUTATION FORMULA - 5:00 AM
Orion turned his attention to a different project. Global exotic energy saturation.
The mechanical synthesis machine would produce massive amounts. But he wanted Earth’s entire atmosphere to contain exotic energy naturally. Make cultivation possible anywhere. Not just in specialized facilities.
The solution: Mutate Earth’s existing plant life.
He got to work and designed a mutation formula in the lab. A substance that would only affect plants. Harmless to animals and humans. Would spread through plant populations via airborne dispersal.
The mutation was simple. Added partial versions of the Alpha and Gamma organelles to plant cells. Not the full exotic energy synthesis capability. Just enough to produce trace amounts.
Every plant on Earth—trees, grass, crops, algae—would begin releasing exotic energy as a byproduct of photosynthesis. Tiny amounts per plant. But billions of plants globally would create measurable atmospheric concentration.
The mutation would take months to spread completely. But eventually, Earth’s atmosphere would naturally contain exotic energy. Anyone could cultivate anywhere just by breathing.
"This is quite ambitious," Rene said. "Mutating the entire planetary ecosystem."
"Necessary. If I want to introduce cultivation to humanity, they need access to exotic energy. Can’t require everyone to visit specialized facilities. This makes it universal."
Orion synthesized the mutation formula using equipment in the biosafety lab. Simple organic compound. Airborne dispersal. Would remain active for weeks before breaking down.
Filled a small canister. Sealed it carefully.
"Rene, take this outside. Release it into the air. The compound will spread naturally through atmospheric circulation."
Rene’s laboratory body took the canister. Walked to the exterior airlock. Released the contents outside the building.
The mutation was loose. Within weeks, plants worldwide would begin producing exotic energy. Within months, Earth’s atmosphere would be saturated.
"Done," Rene confirmed.
