Chapter 240: Are You Him?
Natalia struggled with the men but her strength was no match for them. However, the men had just flung open the door to a private room when the sound of glass shattering from behind made them stop in their tracks. Turning around, a tall figure was standing right behind them, while at his feet was one of their men whom he’d just smashed a glass against the head for trying to stop him.
"Will you all let her go willingly, or do I have to use a forceful method?" Christopher’s calm voice queried.
Even in her drunken state, Natalia could recognize the familiar voice as she heard it. She turned around to see him standing nonchalantly over a man who was bleeding on the head. Despite the bloody scene beneath his feet, she still saw him as a salvation, beaming brightly at him.
"Is this the part where a prince charming comes to save his princess?" She asked in an inebriated tone.
"Yes love, your prince charming is here to save you." He said playfully like he always did with her. For some reason she smiled even brighter. He added, "Is this what you do after fiercely dumping your ex, get in trouble?" He asked in a slightly scolding tone before looking at the man holding her, then at the hand still grabbing Natalia’s arm.
"Let go!" His voice took on a cold tone, his dark eyes flashing with a deadly glint.
The men holding Natalia were suddenly frightened and immediately released her hand. Though they were Zain’s lackeys, they were afraid of a fight they would most likely lose, and seeing Christopher, he seemed like someone they would regret messing with, so they didn’t insist on keeping hold of Natalia.
She staggered as they let her go, before standing on her feet and smiling goofily at Christopher.
"And who the hell do you think you are interfering in my business?" Zain’s voice came from behind as he approached the scene.
Christopher gave him a nonchalant glance, before turning back to look at Natalia, "Are you coming, or would you like to go to the room with this creep here?" He asked, motioning to Zain as he did so.
Natalia didn’t waste time in trotting over to his side. She scurried beside him as if trying to hide behind his large frame.
"Who are you calling a creep?" Zain asked angrily before looking at his men, "What are you all waiting for? Get him!"
The guys hesitated a bit, but someone finally charged at Christopher ferociously. Without even making too much of a move, the man was already down at his feet. Natalia looked up at him in astonishment, stars glimmering in her dazed eyes.
All the other people about to charge towards Christopher were stunned. They stood looking like gnomes but didn’t make an attempt to move at all.
"Why are you all standing there? He can’t defeat all of you at once! You all go at him at the same time!" Zain yelled at his men in an urgent tone. But none of them still moved, though they did like to stir up trouble, they still knew what pain felt like and wouldn’t mess with the wrong person.
Christopher pulled Natalia close to make sure she wouldn’t fall with how clouded her gaze looked and how she was repeatedly holding her head. He shot a glance at Zain and his men, "You’re still here?" He asked with a hint of threat in his voice, as if they would regret still being there if they remained for another second.
The remaining guys didn’t hesitate to rush off from the place, while one of them dragged the man that had been knocked down, bleeding, with him as he ran off.
Zain stood there unprotected by his lackeys. Though he was a well-known rascally gangster who caused trouble everywhere he went, while still maintaining the strong backing of his father who was a ruthless mafia man, he still wouldn’t be able to stand up and fight if left alone.
Christopher looked at him with a raised brow, as if asking why he was still standing there.
"You, I’ll get you back for this." Zain raised a warning finger at him while backing away, before he fully turned around and fled as well.
"Yay! You chased the bad guys!" Natalia suddenly said in an excited voice as if she was celebrating a victory.
Christopher gazed at her. He slowly flicked her nose lightly, "Couldn’t you tell me to come with you to the bar earlier if you really wanted to get drunk? What was the need to get drunk and go attracting trouble for yourself, if I hadn’t decided to follow you then?"
Natalia pouted like a wronged child. She said innocently, "But I wasn’t causing trouble, I was just dancing."
"You were dancing? What sort of dance were you doing for those men to..." Christopher stopped his sentence, "You know what, I don’t want to know." He sighed then added, "Let’s get you home."
Natalia only blinked without moving as Christopher turned around about to walk away. "Aren’t you coming?" He asked.
"But I can’t walk, I’m too drunk." She uttered tiredly.
"So you know you’re really drunk?" He asked in a playful manner then walked back to her. But as he came to stand right before her, Natalia had been staring up at him when her head throbbed painfully. She shut her eyes holding her head to get rid of the pain, and when it finally ceased and she opened her eyes, Christopher was no longer in front of her.
"Hmm?" She looked around wondering where he’d gone in a second before her gaze fell lower, he was squatting in front of her.
"Get on so I can take you home." He said.
"You want to carry me?" She asked in a slurred voice, "But I’m quite heavy."
"I think I can manage." He retorted, "Now get on."
"Alright then." Natalia said obediently, getting onto his back as he effortlessly stood up carrying her like a weightless doll.
"Mhmm, you’re really strong." She said pinching his cheek with her finger before holding onto him as he began to walk. She inhaled deeply before adding, "And you smell really nice, you smell like... like." She repeated the word ’like’ a few times as if in thought.
"Smell like what?" Christopher finally asked as he walked out of the bar with her on his back, while he’d grabbed her bag and her jacket, holding them in his hand as he approached his car which was parked quite far away from the bar due to the fact that there was no close parking space near the bar.
"You smell like super, super, super expensive cologne." Natalia finally said giggling.
Christopher chuckled slightly, shaking his head at her, "You’re really drunk."
"Yes, I am drunk." Natalia said in agreement, "But do you know what you also smell like?"
"Like super, super, super expensive cologne?" He asked, imitating the way she’d said it.
"Tsk! Other than that." She clicked her tongue.
"Then what else do I smell like?"
"You smell like..." She trailed off thinking again.
A pair of deep dark eyes flashed in her mind. The whole surroundings were dark, so dark she could barely see, and those eyes seemed to blend into the darkness until the wind howled and the curtains fluttered, letting in some moonlight. A handsome youthful face came into her view.
Her mind had been clouded, but there was a searing heat, a heat of deep desire, and that desire had been quenched repeatedly in a single night.
"You smell a lot like him." Natalia muttered absentmindedly while still lost in her thoughts.
Hearing that, Christopher abruptly halted his walking step, "And who are you talking about?" He asked.
Natalia was quiet, but she further wrapped her arms around his neck as if she had fallen asleep. Christopher sighed then continued walking forward.
Finally reaching his car, he pulled open the passenger seat, carefully placing her in the car. He moved further in to pull the seat belt and strap her in as she seemed to have passed out, but he was about to withdraw when she suddenly grabbed his collar pulling him forward, his face coming right before hers.
"You look a lot like him as well." She muttered sleepily, looking into his face for some time before she added, "Tell me, are you him?"
