Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire

Chapter 238: There Can Never Be Anything Between Us

"Did you get my present? I missed you so much, so I came to see you."

Natalia was at first shocked about his presence, but then she realized that he had just come to drop off a gift for her. He had probably not left and had parked his car somewhere around and came over seeing her talking with Christopher.

"What are you doing here, Mr. Ramford?" Natalia asked coldly.

"Natalia, baby, don’t be like that with me. I already apologized to you, didn’t I? I want you back!" he said pleadingly.

"And I’m sure I made it clear to you already, right? I don’t want to talk to you at all," she replied, then dug her hand into her bag. She pulled out the gift box and held it out to him. "And please take this back. I don’t need any gifts from you, so please don’t think an apology and a gift would fix things between us."

Peter refused to take the gift box from her hands. "C’mon baby, I said I’m sorry..." His hand moved to touch her, but before it did, Christopher, who had been quiet, grabbed his arm strongly, stopping his hand from reaching Natalia.

"She asked you to leave. Wasn’t it clear when she said she didn’t want to talk to you?" Christopher’s voice had turned deeply rigid, unlike the soft and playful tone with which he used to talk to Natalia.

"Hey, stay out of this!" Peter spat, trying to get his hand out of Christopher’s grip, but it felt like an iron grip. He couldn’t release himself.

Peter was suddenly enraged. Earlier, he had been parked up ahead waiting for when Natalia would leave the company building. He was more than confident that with the gift and sweet words he’d said to her, Natalia wouldn’t hesitate to jump back into his arms the minute she saw him. After all, he knew quite well how much she truly loved him. He was sure she hadn’t been able to get over him even after three years and had been waiting for him. Whatever resistance she was putting up now was just her playing hard to get.

However, all of a sudden Christopher had appeared, giving her flowers. He had immediately driven his car over. He didn’t want her to be taken away right before his eyes. But now this punk was trying to get involved with him getting her back?

"You punk! Let go!" Peter spat in rage. He was about to throw a punch at Christopher’s face, but Christopher was quick to dodge. Peter was caught off guard when a painful hit landed on his face instead. Christopher had punched him so hard he lost his footing.

Natalia gasped, stepping back in shock as Peter fell to the floor. She looked up at Christopher in shock, but he didn’t have any sense of remorse on his face as he said to her,

"What? Told you I’d punch him if I set my eyes on him," Christopher remarked.

Peter got off the floor, his face contorted in anger and pain. "How dare you hit me? Do you know who I am?"

"Yes, I do know who you are, but the thing is..." Christopher gazed at him with carefree nonchalance, "I don’t give a damn!"

"You..." Peter was unable to phrase his words. "You just wait, just wait, I’ll definitely not forget this!" he said, pointing angrily at Christopher before turning back to Natalia.

"Natalia, don’t listen to this lunatic of a guy. You saw how he hit me just now, right? Just let him be and come with me. I promise I’ll never hurt you again. We’ll be together. Remember you once told me you wanted to get married? We’ll get married, in whatever way you want, just come back to me," he pleaded desperately.

"Really? You want to marry me?" Natalia asked calmly.

"Of course, baby. You’re the only woman I want to be with."

"Then what about Megan?" Asking this question once again, she could see how his expression momentarily stiffened before he quickly composed himself and spoke up.

"I already told you, right? I’m not in love with her at all. It’s you. You’re the one I want to be with."

Christopher crossed his arms and stood aside. Since Peter was her ex, he wouldn’t interfere. After all, this was a talk they needed to have. But if Peter tried to touch her, then he wouldn’t just stand aside. And as for whatever decision Natalia would make in the end, he would accept it, because more than her love, what he wanted the most was her happiness.

Tears were gleaming in Natalia’s eyes as she looked at him. Peter thought he was already hitting her soft spot, making her emotional. He continued,

"Do you remember that time you saved my life? You were the first thing I set my eyes on when I came to, and I’ve loved you ever since. It has only been you, and Megan, she played a trick on me. It was all her game to make me break up with you. I never wanted to be away from you," he said in a voice full of emotion.

Natalia was silent, her tears slowly trailing down her face. "Do you know, all that time we’d been together, I’d grown to know you so well, because I was deeply in love with you I kept every fact, every detail about you in my heart,"

Hearing that, joy began to fill Peter’s heart. He was becoming even more confident. Of course he knew how much she loved him, so he was certain it was just a matter of some sweet words and persuasion before she’d become his again. However, her next words were completely unexpected for him.

"And knowing you so well, I know every truth you tell, as well as every lie," Natalia said softly.

"Do you know why I was so heartbroken when you left three years ago?" she asked, but without waiting for a reply she continued, "Because that moment you told me you were in love with Megan, I could tell you were telling the truth. You were indeed in love with her. My heartbreak didn’t come from losing you. My heartbreak came from me realizing that the man I loved didn’t feel the same way at all."

Natalia looked down at the gift box still in her hand. She handed it back to Peter. "So take this back, and let me give my answer to you right here. Whatever we had between us three years ago had already ended three years ago. There can never be anything between us, not now, not ever. You and I are done, Peter."

Since he didn’t take the box back from her, she let it go and it fell to the floor. She turned around.

Peter was too stunned to react. He had been very certain that she would come running back to him, so her rejecting him had been completely unexpected. He stood there unable to say a word until she started to walk away. Apart from the shock, there was a hint of anger from his ego being stomped on by her rejection.

Christopher quickly walked up to her as she had gone a little distance away, holding her by the shoulders to ask, "Natalia..." Looking worriedly into her teary eyes, he asked, "Are you alright?"

She was quiet. She didn’t say a word, but just shut her eyes. The tears gleaming in them streamed down, but she let out a breath through her mouth before saying, "I’m fine." One could tell she was forcing it; her voice sounded strained.

"Natalia..." Before he could say anything, she cut him off.

"I’m sorry, but I’d like to be alone," she said, removing his hands from her shoulders before walking away with resolve.

Christopher didn’t want to bother her. He knew she needed to be alone to sort her emotions, so he didn’t follow her and watched her leave. She got into her own car and drove off.

Peter, standing far behind, glared at Christopher’s back. It was all his fault. Had Christopher not suddenly appeared in her life, she would have definitely run back to him.

It was true that he was in love with Megan. He still loved Megan, which was why he wouldn’t break up with her. But what could he do? After seeing Natalia at the wedding, he came to realize that he still loved her as well. She was an incredibly beautiful and talented woman with bright brown eyes and a mesmerizing smile. Why should he have to let her go?

It wasn’t his fault that he had fallen in love with two women at once, and he was someone who would try his best to get everything he wanted.

He wanted Megan, and he wanted Natalia as well, so he would do everything it takes to get her back. Everything it takes.
