Chapter 81: Finally Revealed the Truth
’Hmm... this is getting out of my hands now. The hints aren’t helping, but making it more mysterious.’
Before he could have kept thinking about it, Valexeria’s voice filled the room.
"For the time being, you all should rest."
Her eyes shifted towards Synthia, who was still standing beside her, as she continued. "Synthia, lead them to the dorms."
Synthia hugged her a little more tightly before leaving her, as she said. "I’ll do as you say, big sis."
"Thanks, Synthia." She took a small pause, her gaze turned towards Leon as she continued.
"And you, Ragnar, stay behind, and the rest of you can leave." She said.
The mana covering the door’s handle to keep it locked started to shift as it created a path for them to unlock the door and make their way out.
"Don’t worry, newbie. Big sis will not scold you." Synthia said before she left the room.
The others followed behind, but Velleria gave a single look to Leon before she closed the door.
Now, only Valexeria and Leon were in the room. Silence fell inside it as soon as the others left, and both of them kept looking at each other without saying even a single word.
Her mana again had wrapped itself around the door, keeping it locked from the inside so that no one could enter.
Valexeria finally broke the silence. "So, are you still going to hide it from me?" She asked.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about, tower master."
"I haven’t hidden anything from you," Leon said, expressions didn’t falter for even a slight second.
"Do you take me for a fool? The density of your mana, and its purity... has reached a level comparable to my own."
She took a small pause, looked right into his eyes and continued.
"Its quantity may fall short, but its quality does not."
"Do you truly expect me to believe this is a mere miracle? For a novice mage to stand on the same ground as a tower master?" She said.
Her gaze sharpened as dark mana poured out from her body, as if to remind him why she was called a tower master.
The mana swept toward Leon, brushing against his body and leaving behind a terrifying presence that made it difficult for him to stand still.
Leon’s body trembled slightly, the pressure of her mana was just a bit too much for him to endure.
He let his own mana flow through his body. It clashed against Valexeria’s, driving it back and allowing Leon to steady himself.
A smirk crept across her face as she pushed herself up and walked towards Leon.
"Cutting my mana off, amazing." She said, took a small pause, but then continued.
"No one other than the elders of mage society, or the tower masters, can do this."
"And you, being just a novice mage, did it? You already blew your cover off, so don’t make it more difficult for me to get the truth out." She said.
Leon sighed lightly and brushed his hand through his hair. "Tower master, I’d recommend you not let your mana run wild."
A sword appeared at her throat, while a strange green mana, denser and purer than even that of the elves, was wrapped around her arms, binding her in place.
A smirk tugged his lips. "You see, they don’t listen to my command when I’m in trouble." He said.
She glanced sideways toward the source of it all. A knight stood behind her, clad in heavy black armour blended with dark mana.
At the corner of the room, a spirit that did not seem ordinary was floating in the air, green mana flowing from her hands.
"Ragnar, I don’t want to make it difficult for you or me."
"So let’s just have a peaceful talk, right?" She said, her gaze turned towards Leon.
A thought curled up inside his mind, and his gaze remained fixed on her.
’She’s not wrong... I don’t think that we’ll be able to take her down without the help of Draviel.’
’And she’s the tower master, she definitely deserves to know the truth about the grimoire.’
He gave a small nod and said. "Yes, you’re right, tower master."
She made her way to her seat and sat down. Her mana twisted, taking the shape of another chair placed directly in front of her.
She signalled Leon to come and take his seat.
He didn’t waste even a single second, made his way there and took his seat.
"Ask whatever you want to, tower master." He said as he crossed his arms.
"Tell me your secret, and please don’t hide anything from me because the future of my tower depends on it." She said, leaning in slightly.
"Truth?" he took a long pause, and then said. "I have awakened the dark grimoire, or should I say, the necromancy grimoire."
Her eyes widened slightly, but she regained her composure soon after. "Elaborate."
"I’ve awakened the grimoire before I went to the other branch. I didn’t tell anyone about it before."
"But thought that it would be better for me to disclose it now." He said.
A sigh left through her mouth as she rubbed her temple lightly. "Do you even know, that how important that thing is for us? And you still chose to hide it from us?"
Her mana started to run wild, escaping from her body and covering the entire room. Dense dark mana filled the space, making it difficult for Leon to even breathe.
Darian was about to draw his sword once again, but before he could do that, Leon’s voice rang inside his head.
’Don’t do that, let him be.’
’As you command, my liege.’ Darian said, voice deep.
’It’s natural for her to feel that way, the grimoire had been missing for ages now... even I would have freaked out if I were in her shoes.’
Valexeria lifted her gaze back up as she let out a deeper sigh than before. "What the hell are you, Novice Ragnar?"
