Reborn as the Psycho Villainess Who Ate Her Slave Beasts' Contracts

Chapter 463 --463

Chapter 463: Chapter-463

Julian stared at her, clearly unconvinced by her simplified reassurances. However, he understood the parameters of their current environment. He gave a reluctant nod, a small, tight smile touching his lips.

"Alright," Julian murmured. "I will wait for you."

Elara did not look back at him as she walked out of the chambers. She could not afford to. The moment she crossed the threshold into the corridor, the localized warmth in her chest had to be ruthlessly suppressed, locked away behind walls of logic and calculation. She was no longer the girl who drank smuggled tea and allowed a prince to tuck hair behind her ear.

She was the Empress Regent. And His Majesty was waiting.

It took exactly ten minutes and forty-five seconds for Elara to traverse the winding corridors of the inner palace and reach the eastern pavilion of the imperial gardens.

The gardens were a masterpiece of controlled nature. Every hedge was trimmed to millimeter precision; every exotic flower was planted according to a strict geometric grid. To a normal human, it was a breathtaking display of beauty and color. To Elara, it was simply a highly optimized botanical spreadsheet.

At the center of the garden, beneath the shade of a massive, ancient weeping willow, sat a white marble table.

Samuel was waiting.

The boy she had placed on the throne was no longer a child. He had grown into a young man, dressed in the breathtaking, heavy golden robes of the imperial family. The silk pooled elegantly around him, cascading down the sides of his standard, reinforced wheelchair.

When Elara had orchestrated the bloodbath that secured his position, many in the court had whispered that placing a crippled boy on the throne was a fatal miscalculation. They had assumed she was making a play for absolute power, intending to dispose of him once the dust settled.

They were factually incorrect. Elara had placed Samuel on the throne precisely because his physical limitations removed him from the martial expectations of the beast-kin and the military factions. He was a perfect, untouchable symbol, allowing her to execute the ruthless administrative logic required to rebuild the empire without interference. She did not need to bow to anyone, because everyone in the empire—including the young man in the wheelchair—knew exactly whose hands held the levers of reality.

Samuel looked up from his porcelain teacup as her heavy boots clicked against the stone path.

A bright, genuine smile broke across his pale face.

"Big sis," Samuel greeted, his voice warm and entirely devoid of the heavy, suffocating protocol that choked the rest of the palace.

Elara stopped at the edge of the pavilion. She gave a single, curt nod. She did not kneel. She did not offer the traditional imperial greeting. To the heck with the greeting. She was the architect of his survival; her existence bypassed all standard formalities.

Samuel did not mind. He never did. He looked at the four heavily armored imperial guards stationed at the corners of the pavilion and waved his hand.

"Leave us alone," Samuel commanded. His voice lacked Elara’s chilling, absolute weight, but it carried the quiet, undeniable authority of the crown.

The guards immediately bowed and retreated into the hedgerows, leaving the two of them entirely isolated beneath the weeping willow.

Elara walked forward, her dark velvet coat absorbing the dappled sunlight, and took the seat directly across from him at the marble table.

For a moment, the only sound was the rustling of the willow leaves and the faint, rhythmic trickling of a nearby stone fountain.

Samuel reached out with pale, thin hands and lifted the ornate silver teapot. He poured a stream of pale green liquid into a fresh porcelain cup and pushed it across the marble toward her.
