Chapter 234 (2): My Trump Card Is You

Wayne put the pieces together. Using thirty percent of his power to reach Mona telepathically, he sent her a message: the legendary mage was Celeste from the Ministry of Magic. This was an internal strife between two royal heirs, so she should stay out of it.

Mona immediately responded, Celeste’s holy light faith is too pure for him to be a free mage from the Ministry of Magic.

Wayne didn’t deem that a response. He had passed the test of the Golden Law even though he wasn’t an angel. Clearly, there were many loopholes in faith, and it wasn’t as sacred and untouchable as Mona believed it to be.

Even putting aside his experience, Flora was a good example. The former Holy Maiden was a villain through and through. She was so ambitious that she would plan the murder of her superior to gain power, putting on an act to kill her with another’s blade. But the consequences? None. The Goddess of Nature did not care and remained aloof from Her elevated viewpoint.

The Pope was another example. He hated angels but coveted their power, so he gave away a pure clergywoman in an attempt to kidnap an angel’s future child. The Heavenly Father knew everything but didn’t care enough to get involved. The omniscient let everything run its course.

Speaking of the Church of Heavenly Father, their dark history was long and varied—the witches being burned, the little boys said to be possessed, and the indulgences sold to followers. Had the Heavenly Father ever stepped in? No, not at all.

Wayne quietly played a skeleton in the bushes and waited for the battle to end. Demons once again proved themselves to be nothing but jokes. Among the three demon familiars, none was competent. They had been detached from the human world for so long that their cunningness could no longer keep up with the latest meta.

Rumble!!!

Lightning split the sky, snaking across the black curtains and shattering the chains of holy light. The inverted pentagram was activated once more.

Red light shone on the perimeter of the castle, spreading the energy of blood. Awash in red, the elemental fiend became stronger. Eight black spider legs extended from its pleated skirt, making her aura rise dramatically in power.

Mona hurriedly messaged Wayne from the rooftop. There was something wrong with Chante. The Darkness energy she could contain was too great. Mona requested permission to transform and use the Sacred Lance of Heaven.

Really? Can the demon still turn things around? Wayne clicked his tongue in amazement. No wonder she had hidden herself the longest. She was more competent than her two colleagues.
