Wartopia [Army & Base Building]

155. The Showdown (1): Radioactive J**z

fair warning: this chapter is NSFW~ish... not too explicit by my standards.

The weight of his preparations settled on him, a familiar, comforting burden. He’d meticulously crafted every defense, even conjured the largest cannon physics would permit, a monstrous testament to his foresight. Yet, as the enemy’s true scale unfurled before him, a chilling awe, vast and terrible, stole his breath.

The Freeze hit once again, and the holy flame held back the scourge, but it couldn't stop the horde that marched through the bitter blizzard to the human base; after all, a giant drove it from its center, the horde enveloping and following him to battle.

Standing on the rampart, Adam faced the horde. Around him were all the faces that matter: Megan, Kave, Elena, Creed, Solana, Yuki, Professor Hendrick, Bailiff Carter, Sheriff Vigil, Sergeant Ajax and his team, the Trench Dogs, the Titanite Tunnelers, the Lunar Engineers, the Martian Hunters, the Urdmen Fanatics, the Asterodite Nauts, the Venusian Shock Troopers, and most of all, the Earthlings Recruits.

But standing among their ranks was not just one paladin, but two of them; no longer Captain Creed alone, but on his side stood another power-armored warrior, Sergeant Paladin Darius Grimm, a Banneret of the Order of the Oathkeepers.

Almost 400 men were enlisted as Men-at-Arms; besides them, the number of the summoned Wartopians neared 300, and many of the civilians were levied to arms, amounting to almost an army of a thousand.

But the horde that came their way dwarfed their numbers greatly, and Adam had made rather grim choices behind the scenes to ensure the survival of his people. He knew that fate was cruel, but he didn't spend the past four days between summoning troops and collapsing every now and then to give up here.

For that, he turned away from the incoming horde and faced the men whose faces were as white as the sheet of snow covering the white expanse outside the base.

"Brothers and Sisters! Hold your feet still, hold your courage still; this is the hour we make a stand, the hour we make a damn difference in this fucking world. I know we're all scared, but there is no better place to be, because there is no other place to be. Here, everyone will give their lives to defend you, and you will never find that anywhere else on this godforsaken space rock. Beside you is a comrade, behind you is a comrade, and in front of you are the damn Jotnar, and that's everything in the world right now. I won't remind you of the friends and family you have here, because they'll all be damned the moment we lose and die. So here are your commands. Follow orders and live! If we are victorious this day, we'll be unstoppable; we'll conquer the world. My Warriors, there will be no cowardice, there will be no defeat. TO VICTORY!"

"VICTORY!"

Adam looked left and right, and with everyone gathered and giving him the clear, he put his hand into his coat and took out a sword that was custom-made for him with serrated teeth and a spiked cup hilt. As he raised it, Sergeant Elena raised her pennant flag to give the signal for attack, prompting all artillery in the base to bombard the incoming horde.

And that's how the final battle against the Jotnar started.

✧ ✧ Four days before the Battle ✧ ✧

"This is impossible! I tried again and again and again; it is not working."

Adam stormed off his chair, frustration clear in his voice as he threw himself on the ground.

In his hand, he had yet another Paladin miniature, one that he assembled and painted to perfection, yet with no success in summoning it at all.

"You're still trying?" The voice that came to him was that of Megan, who had just come out of the shower in their residence. "You promised me you'd come to relax, and all you do is obsess over your toys all over again. Remind me why we broke up?"

"'Cause I almost knocked you up and your dad knocked me out." Adam gave a snarky reply despite his current mood.

"Pretty sure because you were such a nerd," Megan said as she sat on the stairs beside where he was lying, before extending a leg to tease his private parts. "Mama needs some attention, you know."

"Wasn't I some nerd loser just now?" Adam asked, looking at her with a grin as his sour mood was somewhat lifted.

"Nerds are great in bed, though." Megan shamelessly shrugged. "Come on, let's fuck and get your mind off things."

"You're ovulating, aren't you?" Adam sat up and asked, suspecting the reason his girlfriend was in the heat.

"Like crazy, for some reason," Megan said before standing up and loosening her bathrobe. "Let's go already!"

Pressured by her demands for attention, Adam found himself standing up and following her into their bed upstairs, where they mingled under some blankets, loud moans and grunts filling the room, with Megan being the sonic bomb she is during such encounters.

This loud mess was a normal occurrence to those living in close proximity, despite the good insulation this residential block had.

However, right at the end, Adam would always make sure not to repeat the trauma and get his girlfriend pregnant, so he responsibly pulled out to safely dump his load outside.

But it was then that things got rather wild.

"WHAT THE FUCK?" Megan was the first to notice the anomaly, screaming at the top of her lungs, somehow even louder than before.

"Wha… HOLY SHIT!" Adam also had the same reaction, witnessing what just freaked her out.

"MAKE IT STOP!" She cried, lying on her back while frozen in fear.

"HOW? IT MUST ALL COME OUT!" He replied, way too confused to act calm.

"JAM IT OR SOMETHING, YOU FUCKING IDIOT!"

"THIS MAY CAUSE ME TESTICULAR TORSION, YOU DUMB BITCH!"

"WHO DID YOU CALL A BITCH?"

"WHO DID YOU CALL AN IDIOT?"

"JUST… POINT IT AWAY!"

She immediately pushed him away, and he fell on the side of the bed, but the moment of glory had already passed, and only the aftermath remained.

Megan got off her back, looking down at the mess she was used to but didn't anticipate ever happening this way.

"Dude!" She called before addressing the core issue. "Why the fuck is your jizz... glowing?"

"Yeah." Adam stared at the scene before checking out his precious parts. "It's all normal down there." He looked back and asked, "I feel super drained, actually."

"No shit?" Megan looked at him, almost about to lash out.

"Yeah, you're right." Adam had to agree with her and looked at his watch. "That's like 30 minutes, and we're not counting the foreplay."

"Damn!" Megan raised her brows, and the two high-fived, but then she flipped immediately. "Focus, dude! Why am I covered in radioactive jizz?"

As she said so, she tried to push away the bits of his sploge off her belly, but the moment she did so, her hand came to a halt, and her brows furrowed before turning to him.

"Errr… can you check this thing out?" She said, and raised her hand at him, causing him to look at her, taken aback with disgust, prompting her to say: "It's your damn baby batter. Use the damn system."

Adam still hesitated, but he eventually reached out his hand and touched his glow-in-the-dark love custard, only for his expression to shift with surprise.

——————————

[ Seed of Light ] < Poor Quality ??? >

A vital seed extracted organically from the spiritual essence of a rune-infused lifeform, though the overall power of the source is underwhelming, resulting in poor quality. As the power of the source is finite, the seed's expiration date is rather quick.

——————————

There was a lot to unpack, and Adam's face was in a state of overwhelmed bafflement and frozen disbelief to the point where it had no expression at all.

This remained the case as Megan had Adam taken to the field hospital, tested by the medics, got many people involved bordering on the too-much-for-comfort level, and finally in the examination room with Biscuits and Megan.

"POOR?" Adam finally woke up from his daze, trying to find something to vent his fury on, only to end up shouting to the sky.

"Sol's mercy! That scared me." Biscuits almost jumped when Adam went off before turning to Megan. "Put him on a shocker or something."

"Hey, babe!" Megan went up to Adam, who was pacing back and forth in the room, before calming him down. "Welcome back, you've been out of it for seven years."

Adam blinked at her twice before looking around, then back at her again.

"My… Brogurt… that thing called it poor quality." He replied, his voice in disbelief.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk! Yeah, man. Got some bad news to tell you." Megan shook her head sarcastically before turning to Biscuits. "Tell him, doc."

"Not a doc." Biscuits shrugged before taking a few glowing liquid samples in a vial and arranging them while taking notes on a clipboard. "There is good news and bad news."

"Radioactive jizz?" Megan asked, being more concerned about this whole thing.

"I usually start with the good news." Biscuits retorted and turned to Adam. "Well, congratulations, Commander, your genetic glitter would make a Solwoken blush. Be careful where you aim and shoot, eh? One bullseye and you'll get a litter of baby Earthlings running all about."

"Heck yeah!" Adam went for a victory pose. "The Clay dynasty is back on track, baby!"

"You shut your goddamn mouth." Megan pointed at him with fury in her eyes, then turned to Biscuits. "Am I pregnant?"

"That's the first bad news." Biscuits made a sorry face, causing Megan's heart to sink.

"I am?" Megan asked, color drained from her face.

"No!" Biscuits replied with obvious irritation. "No baby commander in you, silly."

"Oh, thank God!"

Megan sat back in relief, while Adam simply shrugged.

"We can always work that out." He said happily before pointing down. "To think that dumb System would call my Brotein poor!"

"How many names do you have for jizz?" She asked, somewhat disgusted.

"Yes."

"What's the fanciest?"

"Crème de la Penis." He replied with a smirk.

"Nice!" Megan smiled, exchanging a high-five with him.

"And to the next bit of bad news." Biscuits interrupted the two and showed them the samples she had in her vials. "This is happening all over your bodily fluids, Commander. Blood, saliva, sweat, mucus, and of course your Bollock Porridge."

The young couple looked at Biscuits with smiles, seeing how well she was participating in their joke, before inviting her to join their high-fives.

"So, what does this mean, doc?" Adam asked.

"Seriously speaking, we don't know what is happening." Biscuits replied with a shrug. "Also, not a doc."

"Okay, the System called it Seed of Light, the same thing as the Solstone we got. It also said that it is extracted organically from the spiritual essence of a rune-infused lifeform." Megan said, and started connecting the dots. "Adam is the rune-infused lifeform. Extracted organically… well, that was me doing the extraction, and spiritual essence is maybe the System's term for your… Pearl Jam."

"First of all, nice," Adam said, exchanging yet another high-five with her. "Second, also nice about that extraction thingy. And third, since I am indeed a rune-infused lifeform, maybe this Seed of Light that comes from the Elden Tree or whatever is also from a rune-infused lifeform."

"So we're saying your cahonies are like Solstones?" Megan asked.

"Cough! Cough! Heresy! Cough!" Biscuits looked away while pretending to cough.

"Yeah, yeah." Adam seemed to be agreeing with her before turning to Megan. "It's not only in my giggle berries, remember? It's all my bodily fluids."

"But I think the keyword is Spiritual when that System called it Spiritual Essence." Biscuits said, and seemed to have a revelation. "Didn't you say that you need to raise your Spirit score so that you can summon more of us?"

"Yes, I just raised it to 9 the other day. Maybe…" Adam said and started thinking of the reason.

"And here I was thinking you were looking for an excuse to get drunk." Biscuits giggled on the side.

"Ajax has a 10 in Spirit score, though. Shouldn't you go ask him?" Megan pointed to Adam.

"Ask another guy about his Man Moss? Nah, that's gay!" Adam replied with a revolted face.

"He's normal." Biscuits said with a shrug. "I've taken his blood samples when he first arrived."

"So the going theory is that Rune-Infused Lifeform + High Spirit score = Seed of Light," Adam concluded.

"Poor Quality Seed of Light." Megan corrected.

"Wanna go back home and test out how poor it is?" He lashed back.

"Pass." She backed away.

"That's what I thought. Let's go." Adam stood up and waved Biscuits off. "Thanks, Doc."

"See ya!" Biscuits replied before awkwardly adding, "Not a doc!"

As soon as Adam and Megan got out of the Field Hospital, they ran into Kave and Elena, who were rather intimately close in this cold night, gathered around a glowing red stick device called the Hot Rod, a rudimentary Blazer-powered heater for outdoors.

"Having fun?" Adam asked.

"Absolutely, sir," Elena replied proudly before pointing at Adam. "Has the situation of your radioactive panic liquid been resolved?"

"Nice!" Adam and Megan gave thumbs up to Elena before prompting her for yet another round of high-fives.

Megadam then proceeded to explain to Kavena what went down in Biscuits' clinic as well as the contents of the System window.

"Alright, alright, alright. So you're saying that having a rune in your body and a high energy level makes you like some of those glowing Espers from Wartopia." Kave asked, not sure how to add this in the rulebook he was doing for his System and Runes research.

"Kinda," Adam replied, but seemed still unsure.

"I've seen Esper blood many times, and depending on their superpowers, their physiological traits can change drastically, " Elena said, giving a rare opinion regarding the supernatural side of things, which she usually avoids. "If the Commander is some sort of Holy Esper whose blood and body contain an essence similar to the holy power of Sol Imperius, then the theory Lord Creed and I formed when we arrived on this world makes more sense."

"That this is the past Urd?" Adam asked.

"Yes, moreover, you may be some sort of holy ancestor to Sol Imperius. If you and Megan were to really conceive a child, we may be looking into the emergence of the holy lineage, and our existence here would make sense." Elena said seriously, her face devoid of the jokester attitude from before.

"Yeah." Megan nodded and looked at Adam. "It would kinda make sense."

"But the father of Sol Imperius is Kamaru Adawala, an African Warlord who united Urd, Luna, Mars, and Venus," Kave said before pointing at his friend. "Adam is just white trash."

Even Adam nodded seriously before turning to Kave, acting offended about the last part. He then added:

"And we're in the Fossil Age, maybe the beginning of the First Solar Age if we are to follow the footsteps of Wartopia's universe lore, meaning that we still have to pass the First Solar Age, the Great Stellar Age, and get into the Second Solar Age before we can speak about Sol Imperius's origins. That's like God knows how many ages and unwritten years in between."

"But we can test something," Kave said with a smirk, getting to his absurd theory. "Jizz into a test vial, go summon some miniatures or use the other runes wildly, and before you run out of juice, jizz in another test vial, and let Biscuits examine both."

Almost everyone looked at him with disgust, but then he added with a laugh:

"If the sperm count goes down, I think this may well make the Wartopians your children."

"You're a monster!" Adam turned away from Kave, but in a twist of fate, both Elena and Megan seemed to be agreeing with him.

Pressured by popular demand, Adam had to agree to the suggestion but took Megan along to give him a "hand".

Elena and Kave headed to Adam's residence to pick up his latest batch of miniatures, freshly painted and left to dry, and headed back to a grumbling Biscuits, who wasn't looking forward to making tests on the white, glowing vial in her hand.

Adam walked out of the room he was occupying and took the miniature container to perform the summoning in the basement of the Field Hospital. Twenty-one troopers later, he walked out with a dazed face and reluctantly followed Megan into that room again.

After half an hour, Biscuits came with the two test results, which were not needed, since by looking at the glow alone, one could tell how significantly reduced it was. The medical lab computer indeed showed a significantly lower sperm count after the summoning, which prompted a loud laugh from Kave.

"Oh, God! This is too good. I don't know what to call it anymore. Genesis Juice? No, no, Gene Splash! Hmmm…"

"Concentrated Power!"

"Kinda meh, to be hon…" Kave heard the last suggestion coming from behind him, so he turned, but the moment he saw who was behind him, his vision rising to meet the man, his fright was rather apparent. "Yabai!"

Megan and Elena immediately straightened themselves when Captain Creed walked in, while the completely drained Adam was drinking water with shaky hands.

The paladin had his power armor fully on, but his helmet was by his side, and he looked at Adam intensely.

"Co-come again?" He asked, completely exhausted from the effort he exerted.

"Concentrated power, that is the answer we were looking for, Adam Clay." He said, explaining to Adam something that Adam was hardly able to keep up with.

"I was the one to call upon Lord Creed, since there was something important I realized." Elena stepped forward.

"And I got your message, Sergeant." Captain Creed spoke and turned to the others. "If Adam Clay's body is a biological conduit to Holy Power, then there is a way to solve our most immediate problem."

"Sacrifice me in a Holy Furnace!" Adam said feebly. "Just no more Spartan Splashing, please."

"I think I know how you can summon another Paladin, Adam Clay," Creed said, now looking at Adam with obvious glee.

Adam stood up from his seat at the corner of the field hospital, now all thoughts of rest completely out the window.

Another Paladin meant not just absolute power but a completely new powerhouse in the base: one that didn't obey Adam and acted independently, yet could guarantee victory when teamed up with Creed.

"I'm listening," Adam spoke, locking eyes with Creed.

The Paladin then explained it to Adam, his voice in full seriousness, and his eyes gleaming with righteous faith:

"If your blood and essence are similar to that Seed of Light, and it is what connects you to the Solarium, and since a Solstone is what is needed to turn a mortal man into a Sunforged Paladin, I think a Seed of Light like the one inside the Holy Furnace can be just the thing needed to summon another one of my kind."
