---

Leon stared at the massive creature standing at the center of the clearing, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in every detail.

From the way its legs dug into the ground to the dense aura of darkness that wrapped around its body like a living thing, constantly shifting and expanding as if it was breathing along with it.

’This one’s stronger than the [Fire Silk Spider],’ Leon thought calmly, though there was a clear tension behind his expression as he measured the difference in power, ’No doubt about it... this one would’ve been a lot worse to deal with.’

He didn’t need to think too long to understand what that meant.

If this monster had been the one he faced alongside the [Forsaken General] earlier, things would have gone very differently.

And there was a very real chance that the general would not have been able to dominate the fight the way it did, which meant the outcome could have shifted entirely.

And more importantly, Leon himself would not have been able to interfere the same way.

There would have been no easy opening, no opportunity to collapse a building and claim both kills at once, and no chance to walk away.

In short, if this spider had appeared instead of the other one, Leon would likely be dead.

’Guess I got lucky back then,’ he admitted silently, though his grip on his staff tightened slightly as he refocused on the present situation, pushing those thoughts aside because they no longer mattered.

Right now, what mattered was surviving what was in front of him.

And unlike before, this time he wasn’t alone. The others were already moving.

Draconic Flames!

Without hesitation, Violet stepped forward and unleashed a massive wave of multicolored fire that surged across the entire clearing.

The flames spread outward in a wide arc as she turned her head slightly, making sure the attack covered as much ground as possible, burning through the thick layers of silk and incinerating dozens of spiders that had gathered around the area.

The heat alone was overwhelming, strong enough that Leon could feel it even from where he stood, forcing him to narrow his eyes slightly as he watched the flames consume everything in their path, leaving nothing but scorched ground behind.

But even then... it wasn’t enough. The [Dark Silk Spider] didn’t even flinch.

Instead, a dense barrier of silk formed instantly around its body, reinforced by darkness to the point where it became almost solid, absorbing the flames completely as if they were nothing more than a passing breeze, leaving the boss entirely unharmed once the fire faded.

"Krkrkrk..." the spider let out a series of clicking sounds, its mouth moving rapidly before it suddenly released a piercing screech that echoed across the entire clearing.

SKREEEEEE!

The sound alone was enough to make the air tremble slightly, and almost immediately, the surrounding spiders reacted, their movements becoming more aggressive as they rushed forward from every direction, drawn by the command of their leader.

And that was when Leon noticed something else. Something important.

"That’s our goal," Violet said sharply, her voice cutting through the chaos as she pointed directly behind the boss.

Leon followed her gaze.

Right there, in the middle of the clearing, partially hidden behind the massive body of the [Dark Silk Spider], was a huge hole in the ground, large enough for multiple spiders to crawl through at once, its interior completely dark, as if it led deep underground.

"The [Mother] is inside," Violet continued, her tone firm and serious, making it clear that this was the objective they had to reach no matter what.

Leon frowned slightly as he looked at the distance between them and that hole, then at the hundreds of spiders already moving to block their path, with more emerging from the hole itself, crawling out one after another as if responding to a call.

’Damn... that’s not good,’ Leon thought, already understanding the problem.

To reach that entrance, they wouldn’t just have to deal with the boss. They would have to push through everything.

And that meant fighting their way through an endless wave of enemies while under constant pressure.

At the same time, more spiders began appearing from the surrounding buildings, drawn by the noise and the presence of intruders, their numbers steadily increasing as the battlefield grew more and more crowded.

Alicar stepped forward, raising his bow as a soft golden light gathered around it, forming multiple arrows made entirely of energy, each one sharp and precise, ready to be released at a moment’s notice.

Godrick cracked his knuckles, a grin forming on his face as crimson flames erupted from his fists, his entire body leaning forward slightly, already preparing to charge into the swarm without a second thought.

Oasis, standing slightly behind, calmly summoned her constructs, the [Aura Humanoid] taking shape beside her while the [Annihilation Turret] locked onto targets automatically.

"My inventions are powered by my aura," she explained briefly, her tone steady even in the middle of the chaos, "So I can’t use too many at once, or keep the stronger ones active for too long."

Leon glanced at her, clearly interested despite the situation.

"...How many do you even have?" he asked.

"Around a dozen," she replied without hesitation, "I replace the weaker ones whenever I create something better."

Leon nodded slightly, already calculating what that meant.

Between the [Healing Bot], the holographic map, and the ones currently deployed, she still had several more hidden away, and judging by how casually she spoke about it, some of them were likely far more dangerous than what he had seen so far.

Meanwhile, Leon himself didn’t rush forward.

He stayed where he was, observing, waiting, his body relaxed but ready to react at any moment, because unlike the others, he knew that jumping in blindly would only get him killed.

This battle wasn’t like the others. This one was on a completely different level.

And yet...

"Let’s not waste time on these things," Violet suddenly said, her voice cold and decisive.

Before anyone could react—

Fwoosh!

Her wings burst out from her back, expanding fully in an instant, their appearance both beautiful and terrifying as they shimmered with multiple colors, matching her eyes and tail, while a powerful aura surged outward from her body.

Leon’s eyes widened slightly as he finally saw them clearly.

’So I guess I was right about her have wings...’

With a single powerful flap, Violet shot into the air, her figure becoming a blur as she positioned herself above the entire battlefield, completely ignoring the spiders rushing below.

At the same time, the [Dark Silk Spider] reacted.

Its mouth opened wide, darkness gathering rapidly inside as it began charging an attack, the energy building up at an alarming rate as the air around it grew heavier.

Leon immediately noticed it.

His body tensed slightly, ready to move, already preparing to interrupt it if needed—

But he never got the chance.

Because at that exact moment... Violet moved.

Her tail, which had been relatively small until now, suddenly expanded, growing larger and longer until it resembled that of a true dragon, massive and powerful, radiating an overwhelming presence that completely overshadowed everything else in the area.

Then, without hesitation, she spun once in the air and dove straight down.

SMASH!

The impact was instant.

Her tail slammed directly into the [Dark Silk Spider] before it could release its attack, the sheer force behind the strike crushing its body into the ground, the sound of breaking chitin echoing loudly as the boss was completely overwhelmed.

Leon watched closely as the spider’s legs twitched weakly, trying to move, trying to recover.

But it didn’t last. After a few seconds, its body went still. Dead.

"...Wow," Leon muttered under his breath, genuinely surprised despite everything he had seen so far.

Even he hadn’t expected the fight to end that quickly.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group didn’t slow down.

They continued attacking, clearing out the remaining spiders with precise and overwhelming force, leaving no survivors behind as the battlefield was reduced to silence once more.

After around ten minutes, everything was gone.

Only the scorched ground and remnants of what had just happened.

Violet landed lightly on the ground, her wings disappearing as quickly as they had appeared, though Leon noticed the faint sheen of sweat on her forehead, a small detail that didn’t escape his attention.

’I guess it does take something out of her...’

None of them said anything as they approached the massive hole at the center of the clearing, all of them looking down into the darkness below, where nothing could be seen.

It was just an endless void waiting beneath them.

Violet turned to face the group, her expression serious once more.

"Once we jump," she said slowly, "there’s no turning back, so if anyone wants to leave, this is your last chance."

No one moved. Not a single step back.

They had all come too far for that.

Violet nodded once, accepting their decision without hesitation.

"So be it," she said quietly.

Then she turned back toward the hole.

And without another word, she stepped forward.
