She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Chapter 394 - 393: Dying for the Princess Is Your Honor 13

"You’ve got some tricks up your sleeve, daring to use someone else as a substitute. Unfortunately, the person you chose doesn’t seem to be the kind to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. They won’t last here," Song Yishui laughed as she walked in, sizing up Ah Chen. "You still came. Whatever tricks you plan won’t work this time. I wonder how Father will punish you; he’s quite a tough person to deal with."

"Last time, he didn’t have the chance to summon Cui Jing, so he hasn’t vented his anger yet. Now, he’ll take it all out on you," Song Yishui gave a pitiful look. "Since Father is going to punish you, I won’t bother you for now. Let’s see if you’re still alive after meeting him."

Alive she should be. Father wouldn’t kill someone; that would be too boring. However, once Song Chen meets Father, she may not be the same as she is now. She’ll probably be quite miserable.

Honestly, she’d like it if the other party had a bit more backbone, would hold on a bit longer, which would make it all the more fun.

If not, with so many siblings, she might not get a chance to play with all of them.

It’s said that the princesses from Nan Qi don’t last very long; they quickly get ruined.

"You’ve got quite some nerves." Seeing Ah Chen silent without a trace of fear on his face, Song Yishui remarked and then added excitedly, "As expected of the Nan Qi Ninth Princess, a bit more impressive compared to Cui Jing. Interesting, really. I hope after you meet Father, you’ll still be this bold. Then I’ll invite you to play a game my siblings and I have devised, involving horse racing. You’ll surely love it."

Merely having Song Chen and those slaves ride the horses while she and her siblings shoot arrows at them. Of course, they wouldn’t kill Song Chen right away; dying immediately would take the fun away.

They’d keep her around for a while.

"Why don’t you speak?" Song Yishui frowned, observing Ah Chen’s face, "Are you pretending to be calm, too scared to say a word? How disappointing."

A faint smile appeared on Ah Chen’s face, but her words were as sharp as knives: "I’m really not keen on talking to someone like you."

The Bei Qi Royal Family is hardly anything good, merely a cancer that views human life as worthless. No one is better at tormenting and manipulating people. The commissioner surviving such an environment is no ordinary feat. After experiencing a round here, it wouldn’t be surprising how she might change.

Later, apart from confronting the Cui Family, she targeted no one else unless they were obstructing her. To say she did other bad things, she really didn’t.

But to many, her nature seemed just that—how innocent the Cui Family must be. The real feeling can only be understood personally, how much madness and anguish she was driven into.

So when the truth was revealed, she wasn’t even surprised. Of course, she hated the Cui Family even more, despising every last one of them.

Cui Chen always thought the commissioner’s presence disturbed the Cui Family’s peace. But without Cui Jing’s appearance and the unconditional favor toward her from Cui Yu and his wife, the commissioner wouldn’t have turned this way. Even if treated as such, as long as she wasn’t sent to Bei Qi, she would only look like someone with a bad character. She, at her worst, would be no more than one among the masses, of which the world has plenty like her.

"Oh, got quite a stubborn streak, haven’t you? Interesting." Song Yishui wasn’t angry at all, even somewhat pleased. She enjoyed those with such personality; they made the game much more fun.

"Maintain your current demeanor, I hope it lasts a bit longer; it’s quite charming." She smiled.

Ah Chen smiled back: "It will."

"You’re truly unafraid." Song Yishui looked down at her, "This Princess is courteous to you today so we can play later, but my siblings are not the patient kind. You should be thinking about how to last until Father summons you."

"Don’t disappoint this Princess."

Ah Chen’s smile remained unchanged: "As you wish, I will maintain this disposition."

Only afraid they can’t handle it.

She was curious how the Bei Qi Royal Family, who viewed human life as grass, would react when facing life and death. Will they be thrilled, find it exciting, or be scared shitless, crying and screaming?

Song Yishui snorted: "Let’s wait and see then, Song Chen."

She lifted her chin and turned away, utterly arrogant and aloof.

"Take care, Third Princess." Ah Chen cheerfully bid farewell, prompting Song Yishui to glance back.

This Nan Qi Princess must be unprecedentedly daring. She felt the other was indeed afraid; if not, she wouldn’t have sent Cui Jing over.

Now, assuming such an attitude was merely not to lower her noble head, to maintain some dignity.

In Bei Qi, apologies, but, if the Bei Qi Royal Family doesn’t want someone to have dignity, then they won’t have it, no matter how proud. They will have to eat pig food and bark like dogs. Fearless of life and death? What about a fate worse than death?

Some have shown backbone, trying to bite their tongues to commit suicide, which amused Song Yishui. How possible is that? Biting one’s tongue isn’t that easy to die from. All it results in is more slaves without tongues, unable to live or die as they wish.

Let’s see how long Song Chen can maintain this pride.

Her elder brother can’t resist pretty women. He’s probably on his way after getting wind of it. She doesn’t think Song Chen can get past her elder brother’s hurdle.

"Such a beauty, even prettier than Cui Jing. Truly exceptional, as expected of Nan Qi’s Ninth Princess," said a newcomer shortly after Song Yishui left, the Bei Qi Second Prince Song Wenyu.

Upon entering, he began to scrutinize Ah Chen. This place couldn’t keep people out, so if they wanted to look, let them. Ah Chen didn’t mind.

Let’s count it as their last moments of happiness, as they would soon die.

"What a pity, you being the Nan Qi Princess, prevents me from hiding you away," Song Wenyu regretted. Unlike his elder brother, who was rough, he cherished beauty, preferring to keep them in his backyard, admiring them until they lost their allure.

If only Song Chen were not the Nan Qi Princess, then no one would contend for her. What a pity that is.

"You’ve got some nerve, aren’t you afraid?" Song Wenyu curiously asked. The first time he met Cui Jing, she was a bundle of nerves, unlike the calm Song Chen before him.

She didn’t seem to understand what she was about to face. Is this ignorance fearlessness?

"The Third Princess said the same. Indeed, I’ve got some nerve," Ah Chen replied. "To be scared to death just by meeting you, that would be terribly cowardly."

"Hahaha," Song Wenyu laughed, finding her amusing, even more of a pity. He really couldn’t hide the Nan Qi Princess away; his siblings wouldn’t allow it. "Do you not know what you’ll experience?"

"I know some of it."

"And still so calm?"
