Chapter 781: The Unlucky Twin Sister (10)
Qiann Yan continued to turn the soil, knowing she wouldn’t be doing this for much longer. The people in the village were nice, and she saw no need to break character by doing anything that defied common sense.
She would have to return to this village in the future.
She lifted her eyes to gaze at the surrounding land, watching the busy villagers, and an idea formed in her mind.
As she worked with her head down, her consciousness sank into her soul, where she could feel her soul power.
When she left the previous world, she had gained the Power of Merit for saving the world, which she hadn’t had a chance to examine before.
Now upon checking, she found that her soul power had grown stronger.
The Divine Soul felt a sense of ease, as if something heavy had been oppressing it before. Although she could use the power within, there was always something not quite right about it.
This reminded her of Great Rong, her original world, where she would always live to the age of ninety-nine and then return to the day after the incident.
She was becoming more and more certain that someone was targeting her.
And as each life passed, even if she wasn’t captured by anyone, her power would still diminish.
System 666, hearing Qiann Yan’s thoughts, said, "If only I could freely choose the world, then I could select some collapsing worlds for the Host to save, which would allow you to gain Power of Merit."
In truth, it really wanted to be a useful system, but unfortunately, its abilities were limited, sighing.
Qiann Yan didn’t mind; these things could only be encountered by chance. Having lived for tens of thousands of years, she wasn’t so fixated on these matters.
Being able to visit various small worlds was a real treat to her, at least it was better than being stuck in Great Rong.
Back home, Qiann Yan was surprised to find Yang Chunhua cooking without being asked, which made her suspicious.
Yang Chunhua greeted her with a smile, and Qiann Yan walked into the kitchen, curious about what the other would say.
"Qiann Yan, you and Qian Lann are twins and look alike. Why not let Qian Lann attend school this year? From now on, you’ll be called Pei QianLann and Qian Lann will take your name," Yang Chunhua said softly. "You’re good at your studies, and you can take the exam again next year. Your father and I have discussed this at length and think it’s a good idea."
In reality, Yang Chunhua thought she could arrange some work for Qiann Yan over the year, leaving her with no time for studies, and eventually marry her off to a well-off family, earning a hefty bride price.
In her mind, Qiann Yan was not fit for education; only a gentle and delicate girl like Qian Lann had the destiny for an office job.
"Do you only have one daughter in your heart, Qian Lann?"
Yang Chunhua was displeased: "What nonsense are you talking about? Don’t you want to help your sister?"
Qiann Yan: "No, if she’s too dumb to pass, that’s just fate."
Having said that, Qiann Yan ran out.
As she ran, she shouted that Yang Chunhua and her husband were allowing Pei QianLann to take her place at the university. Before long, the entire village knew about it.
Qiann Yan was brought back by the village chief, who sternly criticized Pei Jian Country and his wife.
After the village chief left, Pei QianLann came out, full of reproach: "Mom and Dad, what are you thinking? Impersonating someone to go to university can lead to imprisonment. Stop making these foolish decisions."
Qiann Yan noticed Pei QianLann’s fearful eyes, and suspicion creeped into her heart.
Pei QianLann’s fearful expression was as if she had been to prison before.
Connecting the dots, she used a trace of soul power to inspect Pei QianLann’s soul.
This light use of soul power wouldn’t affect her body.
Especially after obtaining the Power of Merit for saving the world, which seemed to have lifted a layer of shackles from her soul, the restrictions on using soul power lightened somewhat.
