Chapter 378: Opportunity Arises
Hu Neng led his group back to Yellow Earth City. They hurried almost the entire way, reaching their destination in just one day.
Upon entering the city, he first briefly reported the mission’s results to the Intelligence Center, following standard procedures, and then arranged for the team to rest and set up camp.
After a series of battles and a long journey, most felt worn out and needed to recover swiftly to undertake the next mission.
Yet, for them, the rare and Epic Level loot was already quite substantial, so despite being exhausted, everyone was in high spirits.
Once the team was settled, Hu Neng breathed a sigh of relief and smiled politely, saying, "Brother Xiaoli, thanks for your help this time."
"Chairman Hu, you’re too kind," Xiaoli responded courteously.
Hu Neng gestured dismissively, "Don’t worry, when the command calls me to report, I’ll clarify everything about the process, recognition of merit and contribution..."
Before he could finish, someone came running over. Upon taking a closer look, he realized it was Chen Cheng.
Hu Neng was a bit puzzled, not sure why Dragon Country’s only Prophet was doing such errands.
Xiaoli unreservedly taunted, "Yo, Brother Cheng, fallen to such a state already?"
The other party replied irritably, "Cut the chatter, I’m just passing a message, hurry up, Old Cheng is looking for you."
"Understood, I’ll head over now."
Xiaoli agreed and bid farewell to Hu Neng, "Chairman Hu, let’s collaborate again next time."
"Oh, alright, alright."
Hu Neng was clearly a bit taken aback. An entire large loot site had been completely scavenged, shouldn’t the report be directed to him first? Although Xiaoli contributed significantly, he was the operation’s commander after all.
However, as he was pondering on this, Xiaoli had already dashed off, zipping away, teleporting swiftly and disappearing down the main street of Yellow Earth City.
Thud, thud, thud.
Xiaoli knocked a few times on that rusty iron door.
"Commander Cheng, looking for me?"
He glanced inside the room, only to see that the burly man, Kong Ji, and several other deputy commanders were present. Nevertheless, he felt no stage fright, talking as he walked in.
Cheng Wen said, "I heard the situation at Mire Marsh is resolved?"
Xiaoli nodded, "Yes, the local Demon Race there are not skilled, we chose to attack on our own, didn’t face much trouble."
For the command structure, this outcome was expected, so there was no surprise. After all, it wasn’t Xiaoli’s first time clearing a major loot site.
Kong Ji said, "Glad that it’s finished. Our manpower is already dispersed elsewhere, intensively extracting loot. When there’s more goods, we’ll notify you if there’s anything you need."
"Alright, but is that all?"
Xiaoli felt it certainly wasn’t that simple, they couldn’t have called him over just to chat.
Cheng Wen personally poured him a glass of water, handed it to him, and then said, "We have something to trouble you with."
He felt that with the progression of the Secret Realm battlefield, Xiaoli was already tasked with many missions.
Xiaoli clicked his tongue, "What’s the trouble? Just tell me."
"It’s like this..."
Cheng Wen personally led him to the sandbox and pointed out the detailed plan for Wind Slave Royal Court’s operations.
"That’s it. Now we need someone to intercept them, preferably using overwhelming force to compel that king to change routes."
He said, "Since nearby loot points are being explored, if harassed by the enemy, it might cause significant losses."
Xiaoli not only didn’t mind the work, but rather happily said, "Understood, just keep them out of Wangze State, right?"
"Exactly."
"I’m going now," Xiaoli stated, ready to turn around and leave.
Cheng Wen was amused and helpless, "You’re going alone? The command has already decided on personnel; you can bring them along."
Xiaoli replied, "No need, I’ll bring that team of undead night raiders."
At this point, other commanders gathered around to persuade him.
"Hey, don’t forget, there’s the Western Kingdom folks tagging along."
Kong Ji pointed to a valley on the sandbox, "They’re hiding in here. If anyone clashes with that royal court Demon Race, whether us or the Polar Alliance, they’ll be fiercely bitten."
A nearby stranger chimed in, "The Polar Alliance is also watching closely; it requires careful handling. Xiaoli, our chosen candidates are suitable after thorough analysis."
Xiaoli replied, "Alright then, you’d better assign me some advisors or something. I don’t know how to command."
Kong Ji laughed, "Hey, how come I don’t recall you being modest?"
They didn’t know Xiaoli wasn’t being modest; he genuinely lacked experience. However, from their perspective, someone who could lead a hundred or so troops out of Western Kingdom’s Cold Wind State must naturally understand strategic judgment.
In the end, Xiaoli could only agree, "Alright, any instructions?"
His direct superior Kong Ji said, "Just remember one thing: in Secret Realm battles, always prioritize reducing Extraordinary losses, as those who are out won’t return."
After some briefings, Xiaoli took on the new mission, though he did not immediately meet with personnel arranged by the command. Instead, he found Ju Ye and his ghost riders on the outskirts of Yellow Earth City.
"Good news, your enemy’s location is pinpointed, and they are daringly positioned where we can assassinate them."
Upon hearing this, all the ghosts became excitedly restless.
"Great, great."
Ju Ye repeatedly said, "Benefactor, when do we set off?"
Xiaoli replied, "I have a few helpers to gather first, then we’ll go."
"Thank you, Benefactor!"
The group of ghosts expressed their gratitude repeatedly.
So Xiaoli returned to Yellow Earth City, found at the specified spot a total of thirty skilled individuals, a few vigilant grades of Extraordinary, more of danger level, and a high-risk character identified by the enemy certainly, was Cheng Mingyue.
"Looks like we can collaborate again." Xiaoli was fond of this woman’s support, the two worked together seamlessly.
Cheng Mingyue said, "You’re just in time; I’ve just summoned those Demon Race leaders for a discussion; this time, there’s a team of several hundred, all under your command."
She cryptically whispered, "You know what this means? They want to cultivate your comprehensive ability, complete the task well, after leaving, you’ll surely advance to headquarters."
For any Secret Realm agent at a locale, obtaining a Superpower Division post is a dream come true.
Xiaoli didn’t dwell on it much, simply nodded, "Seems you’ve grasped the situation well. Why not handle the Demon Race leadership yourself?"
"Are you even listening to me? They want to train you!"
"I’m listening, I’m listening. Those dozens of Extraordinary also fall under your management, while you’re at it."
