Chapter 86 : The Strange Situation That Unfolded — The Two Barons Were Nearly Driven Insane by Lynn
Chapter 86: The Strange Situation That Unfolded — The Two Barons Were Nearly Driven Insane by Lynn
“Fi–Fifth-tier… Sun-Moon Knight?!”
A Fourth-tier Knight struggled to rise from the ground, his voice trembling uncontrollably.
His breastplate was dented, and blood spilled from the corner of his lips.
His gaze toward Lynn was filled with terror and disbelief.
The other two, who were slightly less injured, barely managed to stand, their faces utterly drained of color.
In this world, the hierarchy of power was absolute.
A Fourth-tier Sky Knight was already a formidable force — one who could soar through the skies and wield immense battle aura.
But a Fifth-tier Sun-Moon Knight was a being of legend.
They could draw upon the power of heaven and earth to fight — radiant and mighty like the sun and moon themselves! Such figures were true strategic pillars of the Empire!
Servan had just been helped up by his attendants, his face covered in dust and ash.
The anger that had been about to erupt was instantly extinguished by those two words — “Fifth-tier.”
His obese body trembled violently, his hand shaking as he pointed at Lynn.
His voice turned shrill and distorted, “N–No! Impossible!”
“As a human Fifth-tier powerhouse, how… how dare you not stay in the Imperial Capital, but appear here?!”
It was as if he had seen the most horrifying sight in the world.
His plump face turned pale as paper, and beads of cold sweat streamed down.
“You’ve violated The Violet Armistice!”
“It’s over! It’s all over!!”
Servan almost howled in despair, “You’ve given them an excuse! You’ve handed the Rotting Lord a perfect excuse!!”
His tone was filled with hopelessness. “Now it can openly send true high-tier undead units — it might even take action itself!”
“Lemon Port is doomed!”
“The entire territory of Earl Ladd is doomed!!”
“We’ll all become nourishment for the Undead Scourge!!!”
Clearly—
Servan was among the few who knew the details of the treaty.
That fragile agreement, signed between the Undead Council and the Violet Empire, merely kept the southeastern front in a slow, stagnant state of war.
In truth, it was a meticulously planned erosion strategy by the undead.
Once the treaty was broken—
The top human powerhouses, bound within the Imperial Capital, would be unable to provide timely aid.
And the undead’s high-tier forces, already poised for invasion, would surge forth like a bursting flood, devouring everything in their path!
With a dull thud, Servan could no longer support himself.
He collapsed to the ground, eyes unfocused—
As if he could already see the image of the apocalypse unfolding before him…
However—
To most of those present—
Including Priest Colin, Daniels, as well as the ordinary soldiers and townsfolk—
The Violet Armistice was an utterly unfamiliar term.
All they saw was that the Lord’s chosen, the God’s Favored One, had turned the tide of battle with an invincible display.
So why were Servan, and even Lady Erica’s side from the castle, acting as if they faced a mortal threat?
“Treaty? What treaty?”
Daniels furrowed his brow and whispered to Colin beside him.
Colin looked equally baffled.
Behind his spectacles, his eyes were filled with confusion. “I’ve never heard of it either.”
“But judging from Servan’s reaction, it must be something of grave importance…”
These words—
Naturally reached Lynn’s ears.
And his heart skipped a beat for no reason.
This so-called angel, this God’s Favored One who had transmigrated into this world—
He had absolutely no idea about the hidden rules of this place~!
Still, the logic behind Servan’s words wasn’t hard to grasp.
“So what he’s saying is… the moment I reveal Fifth-tier strength, it gives the undead a legitimate reason to flip the table?”
As for the Rotting Lord—
Lynn had heard that name from his followers.
He knew it referred to the ultimate boss of the Undead Legion in this region, the greatest threat to the town’s peaceful growth.
The plague in Lemon Port, along with the fall of several nearby towns—
The true mastermind behind them was undoubtedly the Rotting Lord.
Cassius was, at best, just a pawn.
“Good grief~”
“What kind of twisted, niche game balance mechanic is this supposed to be?”
“As high-end combat power, I have to keep myself hidden?”
“So showing up as a human God’s Favored One…”
“Turns out it’s less effective than appearing as an illusory divine phantom, huh?”
At this moment, Lynn sighed inwardly in helplessness.
Yet outwardly, he remained calm and indifferent, floating high above the ground—
As if Servan’s desperate cries were nothing more than the buzzing of flies.
At the same moment—
A dark silhouette appeared ghostlike not far from Lynn’s side.
It was a man in tight black clothes, his face blurred and indistinct.
His aura was restrained, yet his speed was astonishing — clearly, this was no ordinary individual.
“Your Excellency! Please suppress your aura at once!”
“Under no circumstances should you use power above the Fifth-tier again!”
“What Servan said is true — The Violet Armistice is a fragile balance signed between the upper echelons of the Empire and the Undead Council!”
“If your aura is confirmed, the Rotting Lord will have a legitimate reason to mobilize Fifth-tier forces — or even descend personally!”
“When that happens, it will truly be our utter annihilation!”
Hearing nearly the same warning once more,
Lynn’s eyes flickered slightly as he looked toward the man in black, but he did not respond immediately.
He still needed more information.
Besides—
Lynn genuinely had no idea what to do now!
So he had no choice but to keep pretending to be calm…
By the window of the castle’s study—
Erica, who had sent the man in black to stop Lynn,
was already drenched in fine beads of sweat.
Seeing that Lynn had ceased his attack, she exhaled slightly in relief.
Then she hurriedly took out a sound-transmission crystal and shouted sternly, “Quick! Activate all the Magic Towers at full power!”
“Completely mask that energy fluctuation from earlier! Now!!”
She ordered the grand magic array covering Lemon Port
to operate at full combat capacity!
Yet that might already be in vain.
Because not far outside the city, the undead envoys who had been trading with Servan were still hidden!
The shockwave from that earlier clash had occurred quite close to them.
There was a high chance they had sensed it!
Once the information reached the Rotting Lord…
“Damn it!”
“If I’d known, I should’ve taken the risk and wiped them out earlier!”
Erica regretted it so much that her guts nearly turned green.
Her earlier hesitation had been to lure out other schemers — and the hidden forces behind Servan.
And she had indeed succeeded in learning that Servan had three Fourth-tier powerhouses under his command,
as well as which opportunists were supporting his faction.
But she had never expected~~
That it would bring forth a terrifying Fifth-tier being who could shake the heavens!
Erica forced herself to calm down, her mind racing madly.
The only way to remedy the situation now—
was to strike before the undead envoys could transmit the truth!
Eliminate them!
Silence them completely!
As a Third-tier Magician, Erica swiftly focused her magic again, directing her voice clearly toward the chaotic battlefield below.
“Servan! You fool, what are you still standing there for?!”
“If you don’t want to die together, have your men join mine!”
“Go to that cellar outside the city immediately and kill the undead sentries! Now! At once!!”
The collapsed Servan
was jolted awake by her furious shout.
He looked up — meeting Erica’s desperate, do-or-die gaze.
The instinct to survive gradually overpowered his fear and stupidity.
“Y–Yes! Right! I’ll kill them! We can’t let the message get out!”
Servan scrambled to his feet, yelling at his three recently recovered Fourth-tier Knights, “Follow Baroness Erica’s command!”
“Hurry and join her people — wipe out every filthy thing in that cellar!”
The three Knights exchanged bewildered looks.
Especially the one who had earlier gone to deliver a message to the cellar — his face froze in shock.
Weren’t they allies?
They had just asked the other side to capture someone not long ago — though that had failed.
And now, they were turning on each other?
However—
Seeing Servan’s near-crazed expression,
and feeling the several powerful auras erupting from the castle —
three Sky Magicians in ornate robes, and four Sky Knights clad in silver armor had also taken flight!
They dared not hesitate further.
Suppressing their injuries, they too rose into the sky.
The man in black glanced back and whispered quickly to Lynn, “Your Excellency, please conceal your aura. Leave everything here to us.”
With that, his figure flickered— and merged into the shadows.
Clearly, he had gone to lead the assault.
