Chapter 60 : Let You Show Off First, My Turn Comes Later
Chapter 60: Let You Show Off First, My Turn Comes Later
Back on the battlefield.
With the addition of the Oak Giants, the human side’s pressure greatly lessened.
And after the magic array was reactivated—
Those sinister necromantic spells cast by the Liches had their power reduced by more than half.
Together with the holy water Colin had prepared in advance, it had now become a key item.
The guards and mercenaries all had small water flasks hanging from their waists.
Whenever they were scratched by an undead creature, they would find a chance to take a gulp.
The effect was immediate!
Even the most troublesome necrotic poison was neutralized almost completely.
The overall situation was visibly tilting toward the human side.
Unfortunately, the good times didn’t last long.
“Ugh—ahhhh!!!”
A roar that made everyone’s eardrums ache suddenly exploded from the south!
It was that mountain of flesh—the Abomination!
Its lopsided head, with one big and one small eyeball, stared deathly at the four rampaging Oak Giants—
Filled with a provoked fury!
Within its limited brain capacity, it recognized only one rule—
whoever was the biggest was the greatest threat!
“Annoying! Annoying! Annoying!!”
The Abomination took heavy, pillar-like steps, charging forward like an out-of-control battering ram.
It thundered through the ghouls blocking its path, rushing straight toward the nearest Oak Giant!
That speed—it was absurdly fast for such a massive body!
“Not good! Stop it!” Daniels’ face changed drastically as he tried to lead his men forward.
But the Liches floating around the Abomination—
Immediately shrieked and released thick clouds of corrosive poison mist and slowing curses,
Forcing Daniels and the others back.
In the blink of an eye, the Abomination had already reached the Oak Giant’s feet!
“Hit! Smash you apart!!”
It roared, swinging its massive rusted axe with a scream that tore through the air—
And struck hard at the Oak Giant’s thick left leg that would need several men to wrap their arms around!
Crack!
A sickening sound echoed!
The high-grade oak wood, as hard as steel, was split halfway through under the Abomination’s inhuman strength—
Wood chips flew, and the huge fissure was shocking to the eye!
The Oak Giant’s massive body shuddered, letting out a deep hum.
But as a war machine, how could it not fight back?
The instant the Abomination’s axe struck,
The Oak Giant’s giant wooden palm, carrying a heavy gust of air—
Swung down with speed far beyond what its bulk suggested, and slapped hard onto the Abomination’s head!
Boom!
A thunderous muffled sound!
The Abomination’s enormous body, along with its entire head, was slammed mercilessly into the ground!
Rocks shattered, dust billowed.
A massive pit was left where it landed!
Before anyone could cheer—
“Ha…hahahahaha!!”
A hoarse, deranged laugh came from the pit, chilling everyone to the bone.
The bloated figure suddenly bounced out, completely unscathed!
As if that strike had only scratched an itch!
“Bones! Get lost!”
The Abomination, still enraged, waved its iron-hooked hand—
Sending several Liches who tried to help flying dozens of meters away.
The great Abomination King didn’t need any help!
With a sudden flick of its right arm,
The thick iron chain with its hook shot out like a viper, piercing right through the Oak Giant’s wooden head!
“Ugh—ahhh!!”
The Abomination roared.
Using the chain’s pull—
Its massive body leaped into the air, like a gigantic fleshy cannonball,
And crashed down hard on the Oak Giant’s head!
It then swung its axe furiously, hacking down with crazed abandon!
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Wood chips flew! Runes shattered!
In just a few blows—
The blue light in the Oak Giant’s eyes went out completely.
Its massive body fell with a crash, flattening several houses, and lay still.
“Hiss—!”
A chorus of gasps echoed across the square.
That mighty war machine from moments ago—
Had turned into a pile of scrap wood in an instant?!
“H-how is that possible?!”
Taylor’s face went pale, his lips trembling. “The Oak Giant’s core—destroyed already?!”
Beside him, Avril, the newly advanced Third-tier Magician, also looked grim enough to drip water. “That’s the Abomination… it’s terrifying!”
“Teacher Taylor! This monster… why is it so tough?!”
A young magician asked, his voice trembling with fear.
Everyone had seen that Oak Giant’s heavy slap land solidly.
Any other undead’s head would have burst open!
Yet the Abomination was completely unharmed?!
Taylor took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down—
But his voice still quivered from shock. “The Abomination… it isn’t an ordinary undead!”
“That disgusting fat flesh—it’s actually its greatest weapon!”
He pointed to the rampaging Abomination wreaking havoc on another Oak Giant,
And spoke quickly, “Its body is filled with countless undead creatures called Fat Worms—not thousands, but tens of thousands!”
“These vile worms absorb and disperse most of the physical impact!”
“Simply put—if you hit it with brute force, it’s like punching into a heap of thick, rotten mud. Useless!”
“Physical attacks… are almost useless against the Abomination?!” Colin heard this and his heart sank.
“Exactly!” Avril continued, her tone heavy.
“That’s why in the Empire, only those count territories that have Sky Knights and Sky Magicians—working together with powerful magic arrays—have any chance to repel an Abomination.”
She emphasized the word repel, not kill.
Because completely killing an Abomination was nearly impossible!
Even if one blew it to pieces with magic—
As long as some Fat Worms in its body survived and were fed enough flesh and blood, it could quickly reassemble itself!
The Abomination was a super flesh-stitched monster that couldn’t be crushed or beaten down!
Its intelligence was low, but its vitality was abnormally strong!
When everyone learned this, their hearts turned cold.
They couldn’t hurt it physically, and couldn’t destroy it with magic—
How were they supposed to fight that?!
No wonder its army was commanded by those brainy Liches!
One to charge blindly, the other to clean up afterward—what a pair!
In contrast, the Rotting Mushroom King to the north—
Fought with spiritual control, commanding mindless puppets, a completely different style.
However—
For Lynn, the fact that the Abomination was a nearly unkillable cockroach wasn’t much of a problem.
He had already noticed—
Although the Abomination easily destroyed the first Oak Giant, it hadn’t come without cost.
The raging undead energy in its body had dropped by about 5%.
“If all four Oak Giants are destroyed, it’ll consume at least 20% of its energy!”
Lynn calculated quickly. “With 80% left, it’ll already be close to my execution threshold!”
He was confident in the Holy Light he commanded.
After all, it was the natural nemesis of the undead—
And not the reasonable kind, either!
As long as the energy was enough, one strike would burn both flesh and worms to nothing but ash—
No such thing as retreating to heal!
“But if I finish off this fatty in one blow, I’ll probably run out of energy…”
Lynn hadn’t forgotten that the cunning giant mushroom up north was still watching, waiting for its chance.
If his phantom vanished and the enemy acted without restraint,
The human side would still suffer heavy losses.
“I’ll wait a bit longer…”
Lynn decided to endure a while more.
Let the big fatty rampage some more—consume more energy.
When its reserves dropped to 70%, he would strike!
A single, killing blow!
Lynn sighed inwardly.
These days, being a responsible god really wasn’t easy…
