Chapter 37 : Mechanical Girl, Lynn Expressed That He Needed a Cute Maid
Chapter 37: Mechanical Girl, Lynn Expressed That He Needed a Cute Maid
What a pity.
Lynn was a step too late.
At the edge of the wide, astonishing laboratory behind the door—
Several grotesque gargoyle statues, which had originally stood still like decorations,
suddenly lit up with horrifying red light in their eyes!
They were not actual gargoyles.
But rather, some kind of special combat puppets constructed from metal and magical crystals!
Their joints screeched with sharp metallic friction—wings, or perhaps thrusters?
Suddenly unfolded!
With a shriek that tore through the air, they turned into several blurry black shadows,
lunging toward the intruder at the doorway at a speed beyond what the naked eye could catch!
Lynn’s pupils constricted.
Although this incarnation of his was at the same level as his main body—only Second-tier—its energy was of an entirely different quality than that of an ordinary Second-tier.
Extremely pure energy.
At full power, it could even rival a Fourth-tier Sky Knight!
Without hesitation, Lynn pushed the Holy Light to its limit.
Both palms thrust forward.
A nearly tangible golden beam of light blasted toward the charging gargoyle in front!
Boom!
A deafening explosion resounded!
Violent air currents mixed with scorching Holy Light energy swept out in all directions!
When the smoke and dust finally cleared—
Lynn’s heart sank to the bottom.
The gargoyle that had taken the direct hit was merely blasted back a dozen meters.
Its chest plate of metal armor had only a small dent.
Those scarlet electronic eyes still locked firmly on him—filled with murderous intent!
Meanwhile, several other gargoyles had ghosted to Lynn’s sides and above his head!
Their claws tore through the air, carrying destructive arcs of energy beams!
Too fast!
Too powerful!
Lynn’s Holy Light Shield was torn apart as if made of paper.
He did not even have time to react further—before his vision was swallowed by darkness.
His incarnation had been slain…
Yet in the final instant before his consciousness faded,
Lynn caught a fleeting glimpse toward the center of the laboratory—managing to capture one critical image in his mind.
There stood a massive transparent cylindrical container.
Inside it was filled with pale blue life-sustaining fluid.
And within that fluid—floated a mysterious girl!
Her eyes were closed.
Her features were so exquisite, they seemed beyond mortal beauty.
Her long silver-white hair drifted within the liquid like the Milky Way across the heavens.
Clearly, this girl was not a being of flesh and blood.
But the product of some futuristic bionic material, perfectly fused with a delicate metallic framework!
Countless fine glowing filaments shimmered faintly within her body, like veins and nerves of light.
The girl slept in silence like an ultimate piece of art carefully sealed away, awaiting awakening…
…
Holy Light Town.
Lynn’s true body inside the church trembled slightly.
“Hiss—”
Even though he did not feel pain, that sensation of being crushed by absolute power and annihilated in an instant
still left lingering fear in his heart.
“Fifth-tier… no, probably close to Sixth-tier combat strength!”
“What in the world did that alchemist create? Such a monster just to act as a guard dog?”
As for the mechanical girl sleeping within the blue liquid—
Lynn guessed she was definitely no ordinary magical automaton.
Most likely, she was Eldwin’s pinnacle masterpiece!
The ultimate crystallization of that genius alchemist’s lifetime of wisdom!
“If I could get my hands on her, wouldn’t that be a straight ticket to glory?”
An unprecedented yearning rose within Lynn’s heart.
His poor, empty body was in desperate need of a cute and obedient maid to handle daily cleaning and comfort!
“Hmm~ I’ll have to find a chance to go there again.”
Lynn thought silently.
“But definitely not now.”
“When my main body reaches Third or Fourth-tier strength, when my power is qualified enough, I’ll try again.”
Then, with a slight thought—
A simple golden panel quietly appeared in the center of Lynn’s vision:
【Lynn Church】
【Divine Grade: Second-tier Sanctuary】
【Divine Arts: Holy Protection Sigil, Divine Descent Incarnation, The Canon of Grace】
【Sacred Artifact: Holy Sword Durandal (Projection)】
【Holy Radiance: 2145/∞】
Those two thousand or so points of Holy Radiance were all of Lynn’s current assets.
To advance to the Third-tier, he estimated he would need at least ten thousand points of Holy Radiance.
“A bit too slow…” Lynn sighed.
Holy Light Town now had, at most, fewer than a hundred people in total.
Excluding ignorant children and the frail elderly, the core believers who could provide a stable supply of Faith Power numbered only sixty to seventy.
Among them, the greatest contributor was Colin.
This devout Priest’s understanding of Holy Light grew deeper by the day.
The Holy Radiance he offered daily remained steadily above twenty points.
Lynn quickly calculated in his mind: “Just activating 【The Canon of Grace】 for Colin alone cost one thousand points; it’ll take at least more than a month to recover that.”
And the others—
Ulf, Marianne, David…
Those core members who had followed Liz from the beginning and built their homes upon the ruins could each contribute five or six points of Holy Radiance daily.
As for the Gray Wolf mercenaries who joined later, the craftsmen brought by Old Tom, and the few Refugees who came seeking shelter each, on average, contributed no more than one or two points per day.
“All in all, after necessary consumption, I only earn about two hundred points of Holy Radiance per day…”
This efficiency—
Lynn felt like a miner sitting atop a gold vein but holding only a small shovel.
He was willing but powerless.
Population!
Population was the key!
“It seems relying solely on Colin’s eloquence isn’t enough…”
Lynn pondered, “I need to let more people see tangible benefits—to see the hope of stepping onto the path of transcendence.”
“Moreover, the stronger the individual, the more Holy Radiance they indirectly provide!”
His divine sense swept across the town.
He saw that Liz had also advanced rapidly in recent days, breaking through to a Second-tier Elite Knight.
With the Holy Sword Durandal in her hand, she undoubtedly possessed the combat power of a Third-tier Earth Knight.
And the Holy Radiance she offered daily ranked second only to Colin, exceeding ten points.
One could say, Liz’s very existence—was a living miracle and example!
“But I still need more examples!”
Lynn’s gaze fell upon Ulf, David, Marianne, Siance…the earliest residents who had followed him.
They were loyal and steadfast—already proven to be the foundational pillars of the town.
“It’s just that 【The Canon of Grace】 is too expensive; I can’t afford another Priest for now.”
“But if I switch to 【Holy Protection Sigil】… that’s possible!”
The official function of 【Holy Protection Sigil】 was to protect a Sanctuary.
But Lynn had long since developed an alternate use for it—to gently guide the Holy Radiance, slowly improving the believers’ physiques and enhancing their affinity with Holy Light.
The effect was far less immediate than 【The Canon of Grace】, which directly granted the Priest vocation and vast knowledge but its cost was far lower!
A few dozen points of Holy Radiance were enough to completely transform an ordinary person’s cultivation potential granting them the qualifications to step onto the path of the 【Knight of Light】, just like Liz once had.
It should be known that Liz’s cultivation talent had been quite ordinary.
Within the Order of the Templar Knights, she had been a marginal member.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been lucky enough to survive the Undead Scourge’s first targeted attack.
Her original talent cap had only been First-tier, even breaking through to Second-tier had been extremely difficult.
A Templar Knight of that level—in the eyes of the powerful Undead Scourge, was insignificant.
If such one escaped, so be it.
She could stir up no storm.
But now, under the transformation of Lynn’s 【Holy Protection Sigil】, Liz had, in just over a month, advanced smoothly from an Initial First-tier Formal Knight to a Second-tier Elite Knight.
Her future path, too, seemed entirely unimpeded—Third-tier, Fourth-tier, even Fifth-tier would pose no obstacle.
This was something Liz could never have imagined before!
She was already nearing forty years old!
To experience a second spring at her age, cultivating as swiftly as a young maiden was truly a tremendous miracle!
Liz’s loyalty to the Lord Angel was not merely because He had redeemed her but also because He had granted her a radiant and limitless future!
So it was no exaggeration to call Liz a diehard devotee of Lynn.
