Chapter 226: The competition 10
Everyone watched the short battle between Isolde and Rose, and had different reactions.
The demons were sad/ disappointed that Isolde had left the sphere to Rose, while the humans were hyped and jubilating that Rose had won against Isolde.
Amon was especially proud of Rose at the moment. Which father wouldn’t be proud seeing his child best someone in battle, certainly not Amon. While he didn’t show it, he was in a very good moment at this moment.
However, at that very moment, someone decided to ruin his good mood.
"Your daughter and my granddaughter are are evenly matched, haha." Rhudeus, the Demon Emperor laughed shortly.
"Do you take me for a fool, Rhudeus?" Amon turned to him, and for the first time in a long while, allowing a mad grin to creep up his face. "Anyone with a pair of eyes knows very well that my daughter is stronger."
"Yeah, what Amon said." Sevas said. "That Rose girl is stronger than your grand daughter, Rhudeus. Thorough out their short fight, she never used that attack she used earlier before the start of their battle."
Rhudeus ignored them and didn’t comment further. He knew it was true that Isolde’s summoning stash didn’t have any ability good enough to withstand an explosion of that scale. So, while he knew they were right, but he couldn’t sound out his own beloved grand daughter could he?
’Kaal, I guess the Demon race’s victory lies on your shoulder.’ Rhudeus thought silently. He didn’t expect the humans to have so many powerful talents. ’Even though it was to be expected.’ He mused looking at the humans in the room.
What he thought of after that, only he knew.
Time dragged out, and it had been eighteen hours since the second phase began, six hours away from twenty four.
In one of the screens, a stunning redhead walked silently at under a patch of trees, looking somewhat unbothered, not knowing Sevas was completely panicking- inwardly of course, he would never give those sharks something laugh at his expense.
The reason? Anastasia didn’t have any sphere with her. If it was anyone else in her place who had yet to get a sphere, they’d likely be panicking by now.
But Anastasia wasn’t. She hadn’t even had the opportunity to chase a single sphere till this moment.
Everytime a sphere was close on her map, it would suddenly disappear from the map before she got to it. At first, she thought the map was malfunctioning, but it didn’t take her long to figure out that this was someone’s doing.
Someone didn’t want her to get a map. She didn’t know who it was, but once she got her hands on them...
Before Anastasia could finish her thoughts, she suddenly sensed a presence up above.
Her head snapped up almost instantly, and there, she saw a familiar figure up on the branch of a tree. He was sitting leisurely with his legs hanging towards the ground.
"So that’s how it is." Anastasia muttered with an understanding smile.
"Why are you hellbent on me not obtaining a sphere?" Anastasia asked.
"Who? me?" The figure finally turned to her as if he only noticed her when she spoke.
"Is it because I rejected your offer for a dance?" She asked. This same bastard was the one who had asked Rose for a dance, and after she declined, asked Anastasia for one, which she rejected too, but that was besides the point.
She didn’t know how the bastard was doing it, but he definitely could somehow make the map lose track of the spheres.
"Me? Gods no!" The unsightly bastard exclaimed as if doing that for a petty reason as his offer for a dance being rejected was beneath him.
"Though, if it is a sphere you want, I can give you one." He smiled as two red spheres appeared in his hands.
Seeing the spheres, Anastasia slightly had the urge to strangle the life out of him and take them for the trouble he had put her through. But she steeled herself for the time being.
"What is it that you want in return?" she asked.
The bastard’s grin widened.
"A dance, what else?"
Outside, the people watching this encounter were stunned. Some were amazed, and some were even furious.
’How shameless could he be?’ Most thought.
With the alpha rankers meanwhile, for the first time since the competition started, Sevas wasn’t laughing or pretending he wasn’t panicking that his daughter might fail the second phase.
At first when he noticed the boy appearing near the youths who had spheres with them and were bound to come in contact with Anastasia, he didn’t make anything of it.
Infact, the first time the boy vanished with one of the youths before Anastasia got there, Sevas had scoffed. But the same thing happened time and time again that Sevas began panicking.
However, upon hearing the bastard’s voice; "A dance, what else?"
Sevas’s armrest ceased to exist under his hold. His face was bright red from fury. He wished he could strangle that son of a bitch right here and now.
How dare this bastard ask his daughter for a dance? Sevas thought. But then from the corner of his eye, he saw the amused faces of the others.
"What’s so funny?" Sevas asked with a scowl, facing Regulus who was especially shaking so hard from suppressing his laughter.
"Hahahahahaha!" Sevas’s question finally cracked up Regulus. "You should have seen your face."
’This bastard.’ Sevas thought, but didn’t make any move. Regulus wasn’t the only one. Hell even Celeste who should have been furious too, had her lips curl a little. They were all laughing at his expense, he realized.
With a growl, he turned his head back to the screens, wanting to see how this would end.
"A dance, you say?" Anastasia asked with slight frown. "I think you misunderstand, I do not know how to dance."
"Lies I say." The man pointed out with a hurt expression. "I did see you dance with that dead unruly prince during the Ivis gala. What was his name again? Dane.. Dom... oh yes, Damon, was it?"
The frown on Anastasia’s face grew more apparent.
"Say his name one more time, and I’ll tear your tongue from your head."
Not only her, In the hall of the demi immortals, this time it was Amon’s turn to be angry. But he suppressed any emotion from appearing on his face even though he was angry.
"Fine fine, I’ll say his name no more." the young man replied, inwardly pleased at Anastasia’s reaction. "But I need to know now, would you take my offer, or prepare to lose in this phase, I can grant either, believe me."
"Why me?" Anastasia asked.
"Huh?" The young man hummed seemingly confused.
"I wasn’t the only one who rejected your offer for a dance, was I? In fact someone rejected you before I did, so why not her?"
"Ah, now I see where you’re going." the young man smirked, juggling both spheres. "Believe me, I wanted to go for the both of you, but you see,I can’t be in two places at once like that Damon g..."
Before the young man could finish his sentence, Anastasia was already on the branch, and her fist had already sunk into his head, literally.
But Anastasia knew nothing had happened to the bastard because she didn’t feel any resistance whatsoever.
But at that moment however, the bastard’s intangible hand suddenly went towards her back. For a brief moment, his hand rematerialized in the material world, and tried to brush her back.
But before it did, the branch the young man was sitting on was annihilated as Anastasia pushed from it, blurring over a hundred meters away, before landing on the ground.
Almost immediately, the ground beneath her feet caved in for over a hundred meters radius and a rippling shockwave spread through the air as a scarlet aura burst out of Anastasia’s body.
She had seen a future sight of him brushing her back.
Damon meanwhile, as his body spun through the air after the branch he was sitting on was destroyed, he twisted violently, realigning himself before his back could meet the ground.
"You will die." Anastasia said and before her voice could even reach Damon’s ears, she had already appeared in front of him. Her sword cut through his head in one seamless motion.
However,
"Who is going to kill me? You?" Damon’s mocking voice sounded through the air. "You see, unless I actually plan to fight you, you can’t possibly touch me."
Anastasia frowned, but before she could say anything, Damon threw one of the spheres at her.
"Remember, you owe me a dance." And with that, he disappeared.
