Chapter 223: The competition 7

‎Damon smiled.

‎"By all means, you are welcome to try, bat ears."

‎The figures of both Calum and Mayura vanished from their spot at the same time, their aura’s both flaring wildly in a golden and platinum hues respectively, but one figure was clearly faster than the other.

‎Calum had barely covered a fourth of the distance between them, when Mayura appeared before him, her rapier mercilessly thrusting towards his heart with maddening grace.

‎But Calum’s body was covered in golden dragon like scales, boosting his defensive power by a whole lot.

‎The rapier struck him, but failed to penetarate his scaled skin. Though, even though Mayura’s attack failed to penetarate his skin, A resounding boom echoed across the apocalyptic city as Calum instantly. Tne force of behind Mayura’s attack blasted him backwards like a leaf lost in a storm.

‎But Mayura didn’t stay still. Her platinum aura flared up, and the ground beneath her feet exploded in a deafening boom as she shot forward like a missile, her speed breaching the mach 3 with ease, like an arrow tearing through the wind.

‎She tore through the landscape and arrived at the point where Calum had managed to stop his body.

‎Mayura didn’t hesitate, her rapier thrusted for Calum’s eyes, like a piercing arrow, but Calum was ready this time.

‎<>

‎He swiftly blurred to the side using his movement art for a quick burst of speed, then he clenched his fist, the very air detonating from that action, and punched at Mayura’s temple.

‎<Dragon totem>

‎The air split and detonated as Calum’s fist headed towards Mayura’s head with the force of a sledgehammer.

‎To his shock however, the moment his fist collided with her head, it phased through her as if she were an illusion.

‎The space behind her however, took the punishment as a deafening shockwave blasted outward with cataclysmic force, tearing through several blocks in the apocalyptic city as if the city was made of paper.

‎"...H...how????"

‎Calum asked, withdrawing his hand from ’inside’ her head in disbelief, but he didn’t dwell on that for long, his second fist punched towards her head.

‎This time however, Mayura didn’t even bother to phase through this attack, she vanished from Calum’s view.

‎Another earth rendering shockwave spread outward from Calum’s, ensuing even more catastrophic destruction.

‎"You’re disappointingly weak." A voice suddenly whispered behind Calum’s ears.

‎Calum swung his his hand behind behind him in reflex, but his fit hit nothing but the sound barrier.

‎"The fact that a mere Theta+ rank human like you think you can cross blades with me is insulting." Mayura said reappearing before Calum.

‎Calum didn’t bother to reply or let her ridicule get to him. His leg shot forward again, this time far faster and deadlier than his fist could ever get, sending a compounded shockwave at her figure.

‎Mayura simply shifted her body to the side with insulting ease, letting the compounded shockwave blue past her.

‎"How disappointing." Mayura scoffed, disappearing from her spot in a deafening blast of air, and appeared before Calum.

‎Her leg stomped mercilessly on his chest before he could even react. Calum’s body shot backwards in a golden streak, vanishing into the rubble of the ruined city, almost instantly.

‎In a flash Mayura vanished after him, her figure weaving through the rubble left in Calum’s wake.

‎She punched at his guts again, while Calum was still mid air, the impact between flesh and scales meeting in a burst of cataclysmic eruption.

‎Calum’s body doubled over, spilling out a mouthful of blood, but his body wasn’t even spared the chance of flying backwards, because Mayura had held the back of his head with her other hand.

‎Calum’s face paled, as he realized the gap in strength between them was too large. Though she was only at the Zeta- rank, Mayura was also a genius. Unlike those trash Zeta ranks Calum could beat, Mayura was also someone who could fight above her stage. Plus she had already gained another ability.

‎"I was expecting at least a little more strength from you, but how disappointing indeed." Mayura said to Calum with a disdainful expression.

‎Calum smirked.

‎"Oh, what’s so funny now?" Mayura asked genuinely curious, but Calum suddenly did something she didn’t expect, he actually spatted a thick phlegm of blood at her face, at point blank.

‎Mayura’s eyes widened, instantly decreasing her body’s density, and making the phlegm pass through her.

‎Even though the phlegm failed to hit her, Mayura’s face boiled red out of sheer rage. The audacity of this human, to dare spit at her. Had that spit landed on her face, her reputation would have been in tatters.

‎That thought fueled her fury. Only the death of this human could wash away that humiliation, and so, without hesitation, Mayura clenched her fist and punched at Calum’s face.

‎‎His head jerked His head jerked backwards from the force, but his body stayed still in place because Mayura didn’t allow him to move. She was still holding onto him.

‎Mayura punched at his face, again, and again, and again, so fast that her hand blurred into afterimages.

‎Calum’s face grew bloodied, his face growing bloodied as blood flowed down relentlessly from his wounds. His facial features crudely redesigned, and his face paled significantly from the sheer agony he was experiencing.

‎In small droves, the golden scales covering Calum’s body, slowly began to fade away into pale skin, starting from his face.

‎Mayura didn’t hesitate to seize that moment, her platinum aura flared brighter as she increased the density of her fist even more, that was how she had been able to hurt Calum in his scaled form.

‎Mayura had increased the density of her body, making her significantly tougher, so much so that Calum’s scales were practically useless. Mayura hadn’t even used her Zeta ability at all, because she was unwilling to waste more aether than necessary on a human weakling.

‎Watching Mayura’s fist inch closer to his face, Calum didn’t even try to dodge, or more like he couldn’t. He already knew it was too late.

‎He accepted his fate as the fist engulfed his vision, ready to explode his skull into fragments of bone and blood.

‎’It seems this is the end...’ he thought, as a ghost of a smile appeared on his face thinking of Sasha.

‎But just as the fist was about to make contact, a hand emerged from thin air.

‎It clamped down on Mayura’s wrist, stopping the blow mere centimeters from Calum’s head.

‎The sheer pressure from the stopped punch, blasted apart everything in the vicinity, stiring up a cloud of debris, and sending Calum tumbling backwards through the air, crashing into a heap broken debris.

‎When the cloud of debris cleared, a exasperated voice echoed across the space.

‎"I’m afraid I cannot allow you to kill lover boy here, bat ears."

‎It was none other than Damon, and in his other hand, was a red sphere, which he was blatantly throwing and catching.

‎"You..." Mayura’s eyes widened.

‎"Me what?" Damon grinned. "Don’t tell me you mean the sphere? You see I got this little bad boy while you were occupied playing ragdoll with lover boy over there."

‎Mayura’s gaze narrowed. She had gotten too carried away beating that weakling that she forgot about the sphere heading in this direction. Worst of all this annoying human had already gotten his vile hands on it.

‎"What? You’re at a loss for words?" The human mocked.

‎"It doesn’t matter if it is in your hands." Mayura snorted. "I’ll just have to pry it open from your corpse."

‎Before she had even finished speaking, Mayura twisted her wrist out of Damon’s hands, then tried to latch on to, that same hand before he had the chance to slip into that space.

‎However, to her shock, her hand passed through Damon’s with effortless ease.

‎"Hahahaha, what type of fool do you think I am?" Damon laughed mockingly. "I could clearly see the intent to attack in your eyes, bat ears."

‎"When I get my hands on you human, I’ll make you beg for death, that I can promise you." Mayura seethed.

‎"Meh Meh, mayhaps if it was your brother speaking, or perhaps Kaal Von Sanguine, Namor Stormborne, or Anastasia Necron, then I might feel a tiny little bit threatened." The human smirked.

‎"But coming from, you, all it does is make me want to laugh, hehe." He chuckled. "You’re simply too weak."

‎"Come out of that space, and I’ll show you how weak I truly am." Mayura’s aura flared. How dare a vile human look down on her.

‎"Meh I have no time to waste on weaklings." Damon said, vanishing from his spot and appearing next to Calum’s crumpled form. "For now, I’ll be taking this lover boy away. See you, bat ears." He said and they both vanished.
