Devil Equinox

The gun set off, but the bullet didn't hit me because I held it and had it point somewhere. A female grunted before than she let go of the gun and back flipped to kick me in the chin. I leaned back a bit and she missed me by a bit. When she landed on one knee, she looked up – ferociously, – and recognized me.

She slowly stood up to her feet and I handed her pistol back. She snatched out of my hand and walked away quietly.

"I guess she wasn't expecting company," Dante said behind me.

He went ahead into the safe house. It looked old, a bit dusty but mostly well kept. "Nice place," I commented on how it was furnished and the over all look of the place.

Through the door there is a door immediately on the left on the right it leads directly to the lounging area furnished with a sofa and two lounging chairs adjacent to each other, a black coffee table in the middle and no window beside in any of the two walls of that area. Past that is a serving counter separating the lounging area from the kitchen. The counter was finished with a smooth marble top and the surrounded by two bar stools on either side for a few people to live in.

Further on the left side was another door with another keypad which stretched till just before another room the building with a keypad on that one as well. Across that room where a couple of bedrooms, that share unequally. Malorie, Dante's sister, took on of the rooms and the rest of them share a room. Malorie was in the lounging area watching news on the TV. She had on a sports bra, and sweat pants with training shoes on and her hands were wrapped with bandages.

The news talked about an explosion that had happened earlier that day and that police had been mobilized to the area and apart from that they got a report of sightings of a monster out in the streets of the city.

A large monster about two stories tall, that fit the description James and Andy described, however the detail that the news anchor left out was that it had someone on it. Maybe they missed it or maybe they left it out intentionally. I never liked big corporate anyway, but it made sense why they left it out. Making the creature seem mindless, destroying everything in sight.

That would cause fear among the masses and then chaos, make them do what they. Making sure they don't realize something like that could be controlled, and having the people rally up to try and kill or attack those in control. An elaborate yet cliché scheme. One thing you didn't notice was who was behind it. A businessman? No! That's what president Brent, have a monster in his control to stir up chaos, soldiers come to kill it and he is seen in the light he fixed in place while at the same time he has men to make sure evidence gets erased, when the public eye is set on a different stage.

That man didn't know much about me ever since I was in his military even before the former presidents. Someone gave him my info and now they want me to be their lab rat or controllable super human soldier.

Malorie turned the TV off and got up from where she sat at. "Could anyone of you three tell me why this is happening?" she asked them as she walked to the kitchen. I walked over to the counter and sat on the stool.

Thinking about what could be the endgame here.

There's no reason for him to be doing all this unless he wanted something out of it. What does Brent want?

I then realized that the bomb was placed in a specific place and it didn't just go off at any other time. Could it have been coincidence? And looking at the arrival of the three it couldn't have been even more suspicious. Andy knows my actual name and Dante, he hadn't said anything like his usual self. I looked around and saw the three still standing by the entrance just staring at me, I turned my head and looked back at Malorie who just stood there.

Could it have been a trap for me?

My eye veered off from side to side, then I asked, "How is it you knew where I was?"

Their eyes wide and having wide grins. "Well, I guess I had a good rest," I said.

Then they stepped closer to me. I got up from the stool and faced the three behind me. "You were made to come after, weren't you?"

"Well, one of us isn't," Malorie said behind me. "Come one did you really think you were going to get away from us that easily? Please you surely couldn't have underestimated us Ravedos."

I slowly looked back to find her attacking me in the air. She may have turned around to come after me and jumped but I managed to grab her and throw her down on the ground. The three impostors rushed and tried to grab a hold of me. I swung left with right arm and hit 'James' in the head, then ducked low and quickly swung my left arm right and hit Dante in the chest, then quickly grabbed Andy's head and head butted him.

In that moment I was given the chance to summon my pistols and shot 'Malorie' as she stood back up in both her knees, then the other three in their heads. Their bodies disintegrated, leaving only her. She did try to flee by crawling away in fear of who she grossly underestimated.

One bullet to her lower spine and another to her upper spine. She cried out and tried to crawl away disregarding the pain. Her groans only made me shake my head.

"Who do you work for?" I asked her.

She didn't respond so I got closer and crouched beside her, grabbing her hair and pulling it back. "Who do you work for?" I asked again. She didn't answer that as well.

With that said I didn't want to waste any of my time. So, I let go of her hair, got up and rolled her over. "You think you're safe?" she asked me. Funny how she got the courage to speak before she was going to die. "You will never get rid of us Ravedos. Our revenge will be satisfied and your father won't save you,"

I looked at her with pity, grasped my blade in my hand and drove it through chest into her heart. She couldn't scream but her face was filled with pain. A bullet in her head saved her from the agony then her body turned to ash.

Seems like there is more on my plate than I thought.
