Chapter 476: Making progress
Nero moved slightly to the left. His movement was so subtle, and so slight, that in the frenzy of the fight no one noticed. However, he perfectly dodged a piece of rock that would have otherwise hit him in his hip.
The leader of the group - the girl with the long hair - was actually somewhat decent. Her hair, when it assumed a certain shape, actually became quite tough. He wasn’t sure what kind of an innate ability that was, but he saw her resist quite a few Tainted attacks using only her hair, without so much as the slightest damage to her hair at all.
Her combat sense was also decent. However, whether it was due to her own inability to command the group, or whether it was this group of cadets personal inability to listen to orders, the end result was the same. The group fought in such a chaotic and unorganised manner that they actually ended up hampering each other rather than helping!
It was actually quite remarkable. Nero had never seen anyone so adept at messing up. After all, he could come up with no other explanation for what he was witnessing other than wilful incompetence.
He had surmised that in the confusion and mayhem of the situation, someone would attempt to target him in some manner. That had to be the only explanation, because Nero found it hard to believe that anyone could actually, genuinely be so terrible at fighting, and still get admitted into KMA.
"Buddy you better get your act together, or I swear to Sage Morphius that I will burn your pubes while you sleep!" yelled the cadet Nero had identified as Garry. Garry himself was the cadet who had laid on the ground and ignored the captain of the team, who was called Sibli.
The guy called Buddy was busy trying to fight against one of the Tainted, and he was more successful in hindering his own teammates than dealing with an enemy.
"Garry, shut up and defend the left! We have to protect the hostage," screamed Sibli, the only one actually trying to protect Nero.
"What does it look like I’m doing?" Garry yelled back as he unsuccessfully tried to attack one of the corrupted creatures. "Offense is the best defense. Killing all of them will save the hostage!"
