Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons

Chapter 553: The Undead that Change the Tide of the Battle.

Thoren arrived before the General and stopped several steps away from him, his gaze briefly sweeping over the deep wound across the man’s shoulder before he reached into his inventory.

Whoosh!

A small glass bottle appeared in his hand. Inside was a faintly glowing liquid that shimmered with a soft green light.

A Low Iron Grade Healing Potion.

"This should help." He said and tossed the bottle toward the General.

The General caught it instinctively, his eyes falling on the potion in his hand before a look of surprise appeared on his blood-covered face.

For someone of Thoren’s current strength, such a potion was practically worthless, but for the heavily wounded General.

It could mean the difference between life and death.

"Young Master..." The General looked at Thoren with gratitude filling his eyes.

"Thank you." He did not waste any time.

With the battlefield still raging around them, he pulled the stopper from the bottle and drank the entire potion in one gulp.

Gulp!

The moment the potion entered his body, a warm current immediately spread throughout his chest and shoulder, flowing into the damaged muscles and blood vessels like a gentle stream of energy.

The bleeding stopped and the torn flesh slowly knitted together. Even the pain that had been tormenting him for hours disappeared within moments.

Yet Thoren had already turned his attention toward the battlefield.

He did not need to say anything as his undead continued their slaughter.

Boom!

The undead swordsman swung its weapon and struck a massive beast across the head, the impact sending the creature crashing into the ground hard enough to create a shallow blood-soaked crater.

Thud!

The undead spear wielder stepped forward and thrust its weapon through the throat of another beast, pulling the spear free before immediately driving it into the chest of another beast.

The four undead moved continuously through the battlefield without the slightest sign of exhaustion, their movements mechanical and merciless as they tore through the remaining beasts.

Watching them, many soldiers were stunned.

’Didn’t they say Necromancers were useless?’ The thought appeared in the mind of more than one soldier.

The profession of Necromancer had never enjoyed a particularly good reputation. Yet what they were witnessing now completely shattered everything they believed.

’How can his undead be this powerful?’

One soldier stared blankly as an undead swordsman cleaved through a beast that had previously taken several soldiers to restrain.

Another soldier watched a spear-wielding undead impale three beasts in succession. The most frightening part was not even their strength.

It was their endurance.

Again.

And again.

And again.

No matter how many beasts stood before them, they advanced without fear.

For the soldiers defending Suncrest City, their arrival was like someone suddenly removing an enormous weight from their shoulders.

The pressure they had been carrying since the beginning of the beast tide began to decrease rapidly.

"Kill them all!"

"Attack!"

The soldiers finally regained some of their fighting spirit.

With the undead tearing through the beast tide, they no longer had to face the overwhelming pressure alone.

The battle continued but the outcome had already begun to change.

The endless beast tide that had previously seemed capable of swallowing the entire defensive base gradually began to thin.

The number of beasts appearing from the distance began to decrease at a visible speed.

More importantly, the powerful beasts that had previously led the charge were no longer appearing.

What remained were weaker beasts. Against the exhausted human soldiers, they were still dangerous.

But against Thoren’s undead?

They were nothing.

The undead continued advancing until the once overwhelming beast tide had been reduced to scattered, scared beast.

Half an hour later, the final beast fell.

Thud!

A deafening silence hung over the battlefield and for several seconds, nobody moved.

Nobody spoke.

The soldiers simply stood there, their weapons hanging loosely in their hands as they stared at the battlefield before them.

It was over.

The beast tide had been repelled but it came at a huge price. The entire defensive base was drenched in blood.

Organs and pieces of flesh were scattered everywhere, mixed together with the bodies and severed limbs of countless beasts and humans.

Broken armor, shattered weapons and chunks of stone littered the battlefield.

The smell was almost unbearable.

Some soldiers stood silently beside the bodies of their comrades while others lowered their heads.

A few simply sat on the ground, staring blankly into the distance.

There was no celebration.

No cheering.

No laughter.

Only sorrow.

Pain.

And exhaustion.

"Medic!"

"Over here!"

"We have another injured soldier!"

"Careful with his leg!"

"Put him on the stretcher!"

The sound of hurried footsteps filled the base as medics moved from one wounded soldier to another, carrying the injured away on stretchers while others searched through the battlefield for survivors.

Thoren stood beside the General, silently watching everything. Slowly, he exhaled through his nose and he reached into his inventory.

Whoosh!

Several bottles appeared in his hand.A dozen High Iron Grade Healing Potions were gathered together.

The General stared at them and his eyes widened. These were far more valuable than the potion Thoren had given him earlier.

"Take these." Thoren handed them over.

The General instinctively accepted them, staring at the dozen bottles in his hands.

"For the injured." Thoren glanced toward the medics.

"Ask the medic to mix it with a large amount of water and feed it to the injured."

The General remained frozen for a moment as his gaze was locked on the potions. Then at the countless injured soldiers being carried away.

He understood immediately what Thoren was doing.

The General’s throat tightened.

He had been fighting on this battlefield for hours and he had watched countless soldiers die. He had watched people he had known for years fall before his eyes.

And now, someone who had only just returned to the surface had not only helped them repel the beast tide but was also giving them valuable healing potions without asking for anything in return.

Slowly, a grateful smile appeared on his exhausted face. "Young Master, thank you." The General lowered his head deeply.

Thoren looked at him for a moment before shaking his head.

"Don’t thank me yet." His eyes turned toward the ruined defensive wall.

"There are still many things I need to understand."
