Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons

Chapter 244: Divided They Descend

Looking at the Sandgrip Greaves, Thoren did not have any change in his expression. Others might be excited about a Peak Iron Grade item, but he was not one of them.

With the Abyssal Market, he could buy any weapon he wanted with much higher grades as long as he had enough gold coins.

"When I leave the ruin, I will find a chance to sell this in the Abyssal Market," he mused and walked out of the side room.

In the center hall, he found out he was the only one who had returned from his search. But he did not care as he prepared to continue his exploration.

Just then, the Healer and the Hunter came back from their search with their faces filled with joy.

Looking at their expressions, Thoren knew they must have found something important. Perhaps a Bronze Grade item or a Peak Iron Grade item like his own.

From the other room, he saw the Captain appear. His expression was ugly and displeased. He looked at the two smiling people and could not help but ask.

"What did you find?" the Captain demanded.

Listening to his question, the Healer and the Hunter looked at each other and shook their heads.

"Captain, it is nothing," the Hunter responded while shaking his head.

"Yes Captain, we did not find anything useful," the Healer added quickly.

On hearing this, the Captain could not help but frown deeply. Even a fool could guess they must have found a rare item with such an elated expression on their faces.

The Captain cast a deep gaze at Thoren for a moment and decided not to press the matter any longer.

’If we manage to leave the ruin, I must ask what they found,’ he thought, his anger flaring inside his chest.

’I contributed the most to this party. How can they try to keep the loot from me?’

’I hope they know what is good for them,’ he thought further. His expression darkened slightly before returning to normal.

"Have you seen the others?" he asked, trying to change the topic.

"No," they shook their heads quickly in unison.

"Something must have happened to them. Let us look for them," the Captain said as he prepared to follow after Cressida’s track.

But then the Healer spoke up with concern. "Captain, we are both injured and weak. How about we wait behind? We cannot risk going deeper into the ruin."

Hmm.

The Captain halted in his tracks and stared at the two of them intently. Slowly, his expression turned cold and threatening. "Are you sure about that? Staying behind might not be safe at all."

Although he sounded as if he was looking after their well being, his tone was clearly threatening.

"Captain, you do not have to worry. We have already thought about it carefully," the Hunter responded and took a seat on the cold hard ground, showing his firm determination.

Seeing this, the Captain glared at them for a few seconds before he finally spoke.

"Fine," he said coldly.

With that single word, he departed without looking back even once.

Seeing him leave, the Healer and the Hunter could not release the sigh they did not know they had been holding. Compared to the others, the two were much weaker. If the Captain decided to attack them, they would be completely at his mercy.

But thank goodness, Thoren was still there in the room. With his summoned present, they bet the Captain would think twice before doing anything crazy.

And indeed, they had bet correctly.

For them to ascend to the second floor, it showed their strength and their intelligence. No foolish person could ascend to the second floor of the abyss.

With what had happened previously, how could they not see the deeper schemes going on around them? To the others, they realized they were completely dispensable.

Their party was nothing but a group on paper, without any real loyalty.

Each member was more selfish than the last.

Thus, to survive, the two weakest had to bind together for a chance to leave the ruin alive.

Slowly, the two turned to look at the only spectator remaining in the room. Looking at their wary expressions, Thoren could not help but chuckle softly.

"I will advise you to leave the ruin immediately," he said casually as he randomly picked a passage and departed from their sight.

The two did not speak.

They followed Thoren’s back with their eyes as he faded into the dark passage. When they finally saw that he was completely gone, they exhaled deeply through their noses.

"What should we do now?" the Healer could not help but ask.

Her voice was filled with nervousness and deep fear.

She regretted coming to the ruin and joining such a heartless party. But right now, her main priority was figuring out how to escape from this deadly ruin.

Looking at the trembling girl, the Hunter rose to his feet and could not help but feel a deep headache forming.

’Should I abandon her and go for a run on my own?’ he thought carefully.

’Alone, I can escape without any fear or hesitation. But with her, she is going to drag me down significantly.’ The more he thought about it, the more the plan seemed feasible.

But then he heard her sharp voice cutting through his thoughts.

"Do not think about abandoning me," she said sharply. "Remember, the item is with me."

When the Hunter heard this, a deep frown appeared on his face.

’Then it is better I kill her directly. Everything in her inventory will belong to me afterward,’ he thought, and his expression turned sinister and dark.

Seeing his frightening expression, the Healer trembled and took a step back in fear. "Do not kill me. I will give you the item. Just take me along with you. You know I cannot survive in this ruin all alone by myself," she pleaded desperately.

Listening to her plead, his expression did not improve. It turned even darker than before.

"Also, if we manage to leave this ruin, I promise to become your woman. You can do anything you want with me," she added quickly, fearing he might kill her before she completed her statement.

"Really?" the Hunter asked, raising his brow with interest.

"Do you think I would lie with my life on the line? Besides, I need someone to depend on, and you have proven to be more reliable than the others."

"So please believe me," she said softly. She moved closer to him and reached out her hand to hold his own.

Feeling her soft hand in his grasp, a bright smile appeared on his face.

"Very well," he nodded in agreement. "But first, give me the item, and then we can both leave the ruin together."

Without any hesitation, she brought out the item and gave it to him. He took the item and placed it inside his inventory, and a slow, satisfied grin appeared on his face.

"Since you have become my woman, how can I let anything happen to you?" he whispered. His voice was filled with renewed confidence and possessiveness.

"Let us go. I will lead us out of the ruin," he declared.

Without speaking another word, the Healer held his hand tightly as he picked a different passage and disappeared within it.

A few seconds after their departure, a figure emerged from the shadows, looking at the passage the two had taken.

And without any hesitation, the figure followed them into the darkness.
