Chapter 768 507: Array Rift, Entering the Forbidden Land (Part 2)

The two of them left the place, chatting and laughing.

When Lin Chang'sheng saw Gu Shan and Guo Yunchu again, the two were still bickering outside.

"What big secret could they possibly have? And you just dragged me away. I honestly think there's something between them! Since when did Lin Chang'sheng have a big sister? She's not even his real sister—actually, I think she is!"

Guo Yunchu complained, convinced that Lin Chang'sheng and Yan Zhen's relationship was anything but simple.

Lin Chang'sheng actually risked his life to come to Ice and Snow Province, just for the Ice Frost Empress? No way their relationship is ordinary!

"Ahem—Ahem—"

Gu Shan saw Lin Chang'sheng slowly walking over and coughed heavily twice, signaling Guo Yunchu to shut up.

But Guo Yunchu didn't pick up on it at all—she was fuming inside.

"What are you coughing for? Am I wrong? Did you see the look the Ice Frost Empress gave Lin Chang'sheng? You call that siblings?"

"Everyone says the Ice Frost Empress is colder than ice, but when she looked at Lin Chang'sheng, I swear her heart melted! She almost ran up and hugged him!"

Guo Yunchu just kept grumbling on and on.

Gu Shan realized coughing wasn't going to cut it, so he tried flashing Guo Yunchu a warning look.

But Guo Yunchu still didn't get it.

"Is there something wrong with your eyes? Why do you keep twitching them? Or do you really not think there's something off with Lin Chang'sheng and the Ice Frost Empress?"

Guo Yunchu looked curiously into Gu Shan's eyes, genuinely wondering if he had some eye problem.

"I think the one with the problem is you, alright? Always making up nonsense in your head."

Lin Chang'sheng's voice rang out from behind Guo Yunchu, making her stiffen instantly in shock.

I was just talking behind their backs—did Lin Chang'sheng really hear all that?

"I—I was just saying, you two are such close friends! What's the problem with that?"

Guo Yunchu stammered awkwardly.

Then she kicked Gu Shan, "Why didn't you warn me earlier?"

"Young miss, my throat's about to give out from coughing, and I nearly rolled my eyes out reminding you. Wasn't that enough?"

Gu Shan was absolutely speechless.

This young lady is really impossible to deal with.

"Next time you talk behind my back, watch out or I'll toss you into my Storage Ring and leave you there!"

Lin Chang'sheng said coldly.

Guo Yunchu didn't even dare breathe another word, but inside she was seriously unconvinced. Unless Lin Chang'sheng and the Ice Frost Empress had something going on, she'd never believe otherwise.

"So what did the Empress say to you?"

Guo Yunchu asked curiously.

"This place is a Grand Array suppressing the Frost Race below. Now there's a crack in the array that needs someone to go in and repair it! It's a dangerous mission, and I plan to give it a try!"

Lin Chang'sheng replied.

"What? You're going?"

Guo Yunchu stared in shock. "If you enter the array, won't you be stuck with the whole Frost Race? Why would you go somewhere that dangerous?"

"My royal father once told me—the Frost Race's leader is as strong as an Immortal. If you run into them, you won't survive. You're literally gambling your life—how could you agree to this?"

Guo Yunchu looked at Lin Chang'sheng in disbelief.

But Lin Chang'sheng simply nodded. "What's there to worry about? No living being that can kill me, Lin Chang'sheng, has been born yet!"

"Don't go! There's gotta be another way!"

Guo Yunchu's face was full of worry.

"If I don't go, Sister Zhen will. And she's got even less of a chance in there!"

Lin Chang'sheng said firmly.

Seeing how stubborn he was, Guo Yunchu seemed to make a big decision of her own. "Then I'm going with you!"

"What are you talking about? If you go in, I can't guarantee your safety!"

Lin Chang'sheng flat-out refused.

"Just keep me in your Storage Ring—if you need my help, let me out!"

Guo Yunchu suggested.

"Ahem, ahem—"

Gu Shan, now completely awkward, coughed twice and quietly walked away.

This is just impossible. Feels like he's the extra wheel every time—nowhere to fit in.

It was obvious to Gu Shan that Guo Yunchu liked Lin Chang'sheng, but Lin Chang'sheng just didn't seem that interested in her.

"You stay. Gu Shan, you're coming with me!"

Lin Chang'sheng rejected her again.

Gu Shan might actually be useful as backup, but if Guo Yunchu came, she'd just be a burden.

"Fine! Just call me when it's time to go!"

Gu Shan said, then leapt away.

"You're really not taking me?"

Guo Yunchu glared at Lin Chang'sheng, pouting and upset.

She looked like she was about to burst into tears any second, pitiful as could be!

"It's way too dangerous inside. If I die, there's no way you'll survive!"

Lin Chang'sheng tried to persuade her.

But Guo Yunchu was fearless. "You're not scared, so why should I be? If you don't take me, I'll hate you forever!"

Guo Yunchu's eyes were adamant.

Lin Chang'sheng saw he couldn't change her mind and reluctantly agreed.

He really didn't get what Guo Yunchu was thinking—why insist on going somewhere so deadly?

...

The three of them rested at Frost City for two days to be in top condition.

Then, together with Yan Zhen, they returned to the Sealed Land.

"These are Celestial Vein Stones, for repairing the array. Once inside, you'll spot the rift in the sky—just throw the Celestial Vein Stones into the crack and you're good!"

"To exit the Grand Array, just follow the Soul-Luring Lamp's guidance. I'll send you tips to lead you to the exit."

Yan Zhen said, then handed a Storage Bag to Lin Chang'sheng.

Lin Chang'sheng swept his Divine Sense inside and saw it was filled with fiery red stones.

They looked like white-hot irons, glowing all around, each brimming with massive energy.

"Alright!"

Lin Chang'sheng nodded in agreement.

Soon, Lin Chang'sheng and Gu Shan were standing at the center of the array.

Yan Zhen nodded to the five Guardian Elders, and the five powerhouses all activated their Primordial Power, firing up the Grand Array.

BZZZZ—

In the next instant, Lin Chang'sheng felt an overwhelming wave of weightlessness hit him.

It lasted about three breaths before Lin Chang'sheng finally felt his feet hit solid ground.

When he could see everything clearly, he found himself in a world of white—ice and snow everywhere, the sky above a twisted, eerie purple.

Sure enough, a decent-sized rift opened in the void overhead.

ROAR—

Before Lin Chang'sheng could make for the crack, a furious roar erupted behind him, followed by a great blast of wind.

He spun around and saw, not far off, a massive Frost Giant Beast standing tall.

This monster was enormous—like a tower of ice and snow rising from the ground.

It raised a huge arm and slammed down toward Lin Chang'sheng and Gu Shan.

"Move!"

shouted Lin Chang'sheng, bolting straight for the rift.

Fixing the crack came first, above all else.

BOOM—

The Frost Giant Beast's fist hammered into the ground, making the earth quake and sending shards of ice flying everywhere.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh—

As Lin Chang'sheng shot into the sky, he found it wasn't safe up there either—a swarm of Frost Ice Birds soared from all around.

These Frost Ice Birds acted as the Frost Race's sentinels—known as the Frost Outpost.

They weren't very big, about the size of hawks, but lightning-fast—perfect for spreading news in an instant.

As they took flight, the whole Frost Race knew outsiders had arrived.

ROAR—

SHRIEK—

Demon Beasts howled all around, echoes rising and falling.

Too bad that many Frost Demon Beasts couldn't fly, left to bellow their rage from the ground.

The beaks of those flying sentinels were sharp as swords, each slash through the sky like a cutting whistle.

One bad move and you'd be seriously hurt. In seconds, freezing power would race through your body and turn you into an ice sculpture.

BANG BANG BANG—

Lin Chang'sheng and Gu Shan attacked together, smashing down dozens of Frost Outposts.

The surviving sentinels seemed to realize ramming headlong wasn't working, so they started flapping their wings instead.

Instantly, countless jagged ice crystals shot toward Lin Chang'sheng and Gu Shan—like a crystal hailstorm pouring down on them.

"Up!"

Lin Chang'sheng summoned the Dragon God Bell to shield them from the barrage of ice crystals.

BANG BANG BANG—

One after another, shards struck the Dragon God Bell with deafening noise, but not one could hurt Lin Chang'sheng.

In moments, he had drawn close to the crack in the array, ready to toss in the Celestial Vein Stones from the Storage Bag and repair it.

ROAR—

Right at that moment, a bellow like a dragon's roar thundered from the distance.

The next instant, something enormous came hurtling through the air straight at them.
