Live Strong in the Wilderness

Chapter 419: Slaying the Fierce Python

With each attack, Xu Yi was exerting all his strength.

The screams of the giant snake grew louder and louder.

It was filled with regret, now realizing it shouldn’t have pursued them. When it couldn’t find them, it should have just let go.

The fate of the giant snake was sealed; its head was almost pierced through by Xu Yi.

Of course, those wounds weren’t deep, just three or four centimeters each.

Xu Yi’s attacks became more frequent, and so the number of wounds increased.

Binding!

Xu Yi once again unleashed a binding skill and then leaped high, thrusting his spear towards the giant snake’s head.

This time, Xu Yi felt something unusual, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.

The barrier wasn’t as strong now. His spear pierced directly through the giant snake’s head, pinning it to the ground.

Although the giant snake wasn’t dead yet, the viewers in the livestream collectively breathed a sigh of relief.

The giant snake was doomed, and Xu Yi was completely safe.

However, Xu Yi did not end its life immediately.

Because his telekinesis was nearly depleted, ending its life now might mean the brain crystal he obtained wouldn’t have much telekinesis left.

So, Xu Yi decided to give it some time to recover.

The spear remained lodged in the giant snake’s head.

The giant snake didn’t move erratically; it appeared to be trying to recover its own telekinesis as well.

Xu Yi walked ten meters away and sat down cross-legged, starting to practice the Supreme Profound Meditation Method.

An hour passed, and Xu Yi’s spiritual power was fully restored.

But the giant snake wasn’t yet; it coiled its body and was still in the process of recovery.

It was only two o’clock in the afternoon; Xu Yi took out some jerky to fill his stomach.

Xu Yi continued practicing, waiting for the giant snake to recover its telekinesis.

A little past four in the afternoon, Xu Yi’s spear moved slightly; the giant snake seemed to have recovered and attempted to remove the spear.

But Xu Yi immediately pressed down with his spiritual power, preventing the giant snake from succeeding.

Next, Xu Yi quickly ran over and used a binding skill on the giant snake.

Then, using his spear, Xu Yi swiftly cut off the giant snake’s head, ending its life.

Without the effect of the binding skill, the giant snake’s body writhed and twisted.

Not wanting to hurt himself, Xu Yi allowed the giant snake’s body to move freely.

He took out his dagger, fixed the giant snake’s head with his spiritual power, then cut open its head to extract the brain crystal.

A bright orange brain crystal appeared in Xu Yi’s hand, looking captivating, like a gemstone.

Xu Yi sensed it with his spiritual power; the telekinesis was overwhelming, much stronger than the brain crystals of level 2 fierce beasts. Plus, Xu Yi knew that this wasn’t even the peak telekinesis of the fierce beast.

However, he couldn’t quickly breach the defenses of level 3 fierce beasts to obtain the peak state brain crystal; it was too difficult.

Unless he used poison, otherwise the likelihood was very low.

Along this journey, Xu Yi encountered several toxic plants, but none were particularly suitable against fierce beasts.

These fierce beasts possess telekinesis, not even rain can touch their skin, let alone poison.

Ultimately, their defenses must be breached, their skin penetrated, for poison to make contact. But if their defenses are already breached, then taking their life is possible, rendering the use of poison moot.

Unless Xu Yi could develop a gas-based toxin that’s rapidly lethal, only then could it be used against these fierce beasts.

Yet out here in the wilderness, there simply aren’t enough materials and equipment to create such a toxin.

Besides, it’s not guaranteed to be effective.

Maybe it would work on level 2 or level 3 fierce beasts, but against level 4 or level 5, it might be useless. Thus, spending a lot of time researching this is less practical than improving one’s own abilities.

External aids are fleeting; only one’s power is the most genuine.

After storing the giant snake’s brain crystal, Xu Yi skinned the giant snake and chopped its body into several pieces. Its meat is quite fishy, probably inedible if cooked. However, it could be fed to their mounts.

The giant snake was over ten meters long, weighing over a thousand pounds, enough to sustain the Black Qilin and the others for quite a while.

After putting it into his System Space, Xu Yi dashed madly towards the camp.

Thanks to the Star Chart Map and team functions, Xu Yi could see Lu Ke and team’s position on the map and locate them.

This is why Lu Ke wasn’t too worried about Xu Yi. After all, it was evident that Xu Yi was moving quickly towards the camp.

So, Lu Ke rode her pet to meet Xu Yi.

Otherwise, by the time Xu Yi reached the camp, it would be completely dark.

"Xu Yi." Lu Ke controlled her pet, calling out to Xu Yi from across.

"Why did you come?" Xu Yi slowed down, ran beside Lu Ke’s pet, grabbed Lu Ke’s hand, and easily jumped onto the pet’s back.

"It’s getting dark," Lu Ke explained briefly.

"I encountered a giant snake, which delayed me," Xu Yi explained. He then patted the pet, directing it towards the camp.

"Was the level 3 fierce beast tough?" Lu Ke asked with concern, even though she didn’t see any wounds on Xu Yi.

"Very strong, I barely managed. But in the end, I still killed it," Xu Yi stated calmly, not going into details.

"We can’t handle it?" Lu Ke asked further.

By "we," she meant herself and Qin Fan, along with other teammates.

"No, its telekinesis is very strong. You couldn’t deplete its telekinesis before being eliminated. And that’s just dealing with one. Unless everyone becomes a level 2 mage, each with a level 3 brain crystal, or if I become a level 3 Divine Master, or any of you becomes a level 3 mage," Xu Yi said earnestly, considering their numbers were very limited.

If there were 100 level 2 mages, they could enter the areas where level 3 fierce beasts roam.

It’s quite likely that level 3 fierce beasts are solitary; the chance of them being in groups isn’t high. Two or three maybe, five or six would be stretching it.

Because level 3 fierce beasts are much stronger than level 2, there probably isn’t enough food for them to live in groups; the chance is indeed low.

"Then we’ll likely have to stay at the camp for a while; advancing to level 3 isn’t easy," Lu Ke commented with some helplessness, thinking it more reliable to hope for Xu Yi to upgrade to a level 3 Divine Master.

"Yes, probably stay around for some time," Xu Yi nodded and continued, "But we don’t know which level fierce beasts we’ll face in the next hundred days. So everyone needs to be even more diligent."

If level 3 fierce beasts are already this formidable, level 4 ones will likely be stronger, making it truly challenging to complete the 500-day survival challenge.
