Abyss Summoner

Chapter 400 - 390: The Submerged City

Chen Feng’s brows furrowed slightly, in fact, because everything before him was too shocking.

A city submerged by seawater, very likely, the place where the bottom-dwelling demon fish had just swum past was the most prosperous area of this city, but now, before nature, everything was futile.

This inevitably brought a sigh to Chen Feng.

In the face of absolute power, mere human effort is insignificant. Much like this city, from the few remaining relics, Chen Feng couldn’t discern where this was anymore. A huge city, surrounded by submerged water, with only some narrow lands exposed outside.

The surrounding silence was terrifying, with some broken shops just sitting lonely on mounds of earth, with no service staff visible inside.

After the shock, there was a deathly silence.

It was too quiet around.

Indeed!

Earlier, from the back of the bottom-dwelling demon fish, the area of this island was not small; even if 90% of a city was submerged, the remaining 10% was still a considerable number. In such a large environment, there are always some who survived.

But...

The strangeness lies here.

Not to mention humans, there wasn’t even a trace of birds or animals around, quiet, absolutely quiet, which made one feel a bit uneasy at heart.

Chen Feng stepped on the land, making crisp sounds. In the original life, these footsteps were nothing, but what was this place? Surrounded by signs of the apocalypse, no humans, no insects, no birds or beasts, apart from the sound of the wind, it was like an absolutely silent environment, making one’s mood inexplicably irritable.

Even if submerged by seawater, out of the desire for life, living species would move towards safer places.

Chen Feng picked up some soil with his hand and sniffed it; there was no smell of seawater here. Obviously, this wasn’t a place submerged by seawater then uncovered by receding tides.

This place had never been invaded by seawater in the first place.

So, what happened here?

And what created all this, Chen Feng frowned, and couldn’t help but walk deeper.

Chen Feng hadn’t experienced this feeling for a long time; in fact, after being reborn, relying on the memories in his mind, he could often take the lead, avoiding danger, or smothering it in the cradle before it even happened.

But now, what was before him made Chen Feng feel somewhat uneasy. He hadn’t experienced any of this, and the advantage of memory was utterly useless on this unfamiliar land.

Chen Feng couldn’t just leave so easily; this place wasn’t far from Order. If the mystery isn’t solved now, who knows if these strange phenomena would affect the development of Order.

As a lone wanderer, Chen Feng wouldn’t involve himself in anything here because it signaled danger.

But as a leader, Chen Feng couldn’t stand by and do nothing. This wasn’t about protection but because he wouldn’t allow anything to affect the development of his power.

The Dark Elf followed behind. Although she felt somewhat complicated due to the warning, once entering combat mode, she immediately adjusted her attitude and spirit.

Away from personal life, it was undeniable that the Dark Elf was an outstanding warrior.

Chen Feng needed to put some pressure on her.

Compared to the Inferior Demon, Undead Mage, and Flora, the Dark Elf’s strength was already at the bottom, and he did not want to see her strength stop here because Chen Feng couldn’t be certain when he might not be able to resist ending her life himself.

Chen Feng never forgot his primary ability.

Compared to the Flame Demon bloodline, summoning was his true strength. If the Dark Elf could not advance, then her fate would be to vacate her position, to let new summoned beasts join in.

This might seem a bit heartless.

But that’s life.

Why are you weak?

Instead of dying on the battlefield at the hands of a powerful enemy, it’s better to end her life yourself.

Chen Feng didn’t need dependency. What he needed was summoned beasts that could help him.

In the icy snow, lambs crying for food are only slaughtered to nourish the fate of their masters with their bodies and flesh and blood. Only wolves, a true wild wolf able to roam the snow, can be called a hunter’s partner.

The Dark Elf was quite good, but there was still a long way to go to perfection.

Chen Feng would occasionally stop to wait for her some time, but one day he would get tired of this, and when that time comes, it would be the end of everything.

...............

The bottom-dwelling demon fish and the naga remained on the coast, while Chen Feng and the Dark Elf, like two agile squirrels, continuously shuttled through uninhabited regions.

After traveling for nearly ten minutes, there was still no sign of life around.

The Dark Elf sniffed with her nose, and she seemed to have discovered something, her eyes suddenly becoming much brighter, as she pointed with her hand towards a tall building in the distance.

It was a church.

In this land, faith is free.

In times of peace, unless it is some desperately vilified heretics, some churches walking in the light, the nation’s power will not pursue them.

The Dark Elf is an expert tracker, her skills even slightly surpass those of Flora. At this moment, Chen Feng eagerly wanted to know the answer, and with a tap of his toes, he rushed forward into the distance.

The two moved quickly, and before long they had crossed a mountain peak and saw the church.

But at this moment, Chen Feng’s hairs stood on end, his pupils even dilating slightly.

A thick aura filled with bloodshed, darkness, and tragic disaster came rushing towards him, and at this moment, Chen Feng witnessed a scene he would never forget.

He saw...

Originally tranquil surroundings of the church were now littered with countless corpses, their numbers so vast it made one’s scalp tingle. Among them were Dimensional Creatures, skin as ink-green and eyes occupying half their head, mutant beasts shaped like giant pythons with four wings and hook-like tails, and gargantuan insects swelled to unimaginable sizes. Yet among these species, the majority were humans.

Weak humans, oddly fragile compared to these monsters, numbering in the hundreds or thousands, piled around the area. Even Chen Feng couldn’t help but feel a shiver down his spine at this sight.

Chen Feng did not know what happened here, but one thing was certain, he finally understood why it was so silent here, because all life here was already dead.

Chen Feng strained to scrutinize the environment around him, all of this made one feel quite uncomfortable. Compared to a chaotic battlefield, this silent death evoked an inexplicable fear.

Before deciding to leave, he had to find some useful traces.

Suddenly!

Chen Feng’s gaze halted upon a place, his eyes vacant, staring at a symbol drawn in blood not far away. These symbols had been written long ago, the blood had dried, but a clear image could still be seen.

A symbol of an eye was drawn on a palm.

This is...

The Evil Emblem of the Evil God, Vicna.

Vicna, revered as the God of Secrets.

Divine Office: Secrets, Conspiracy.

Believers: Mages, Warlocks, Conspirators.

Preferred Weapon: Dagger.

According to Vicna, there exists a way in the world to destroy all existence, no matter how powerful that existence is. Within everyone’s heart lies a seed of darkness that no one else can perceive.

Finding the evil secret within one’s own heart and guiding it to become one’s power, making it the key to eliminate all obstacles, this is important. Vicna believes that only in knowledge, and over the weak under one’s control, can absolute power and authority be obtained. He also warns his followers not to expose any matter completely.

Vicna’s Priests constantly tempt good people into darkness, and work towards conspiracies and plots to ultimately control the entire world.

Vicna’s church is often composed of believers and priests who pursue darkness and mystery to advance their evil plots. The temple serving Vicna is often built like a base or a refuge for the priests. They are often well-hidden and prevent any unauthorized entry.

This is truly an Evil God.

In the human world, Vicna’s Evil Emblem cannot possibly appear, so this means Vicna’s believers have shown up here, and more likely, a strand of Vicna’s will once descended upon this land.

This is not impossible.

The human world, no matter which Dimension it pertains to, is an earthly paradise. Some powerful Evil Gods, though unable to descend in their true form onto this land, can use a divided method to bring some will into this unfamiliar environment.

The will of the Evil God.

Even if it’s stripped layer by layer by the power of the Dimension, in the end, there’s very little left, its power is still fearsome.

Looking at the corpses in front of him, this entirely conforms to their doctrine of absolute silence, yes, in this world, only corpses are the quietest.

Chen Feng tried his best to control his curiosity, he did not go down to check the corpses of the creatures because he could clearly feel that there were no signs of life below.

Apart from corpses, there was no life here.

Perhaps because the slaughterer went outside to search for new targets, or maybe he returned to his original world for some reason.

But regardless, Chen Feng needed to leave first, he felt uncomfortable staying here, the corpses had been there for some time, this was not suitable for summoning use, using this kind of flesh for summoning wouldn’t even attract a Timid Demon.

The Evil Emblem.

Perished life.

The mysterious Vicna.

Chen Feng took a deep breath, the human world is like a great stage, one exits, and I enter, who knows, what will appear on this land in the next moment...

Do they want to kill you? Or kill you? Or kill you?
