Abyss Summoner

Chapter 389 - 379: Dark Night Goddess

Chen Feng gazed in astonishment at everything before him.

After sacrificing a Gold-tier Jackal-wolfman, Chen Feng gained a Summoned Beast as he had hoped. Judging by its aura, this entity possessed a formidable power not weaker than that of an Undead Mage. What did this imply? This Summoned Beast would be the second Golden-tier ally that Chen Feng owned.

This was originally supposed to be a very exciting affair.

What does the presence of a Golden Tier signify? Simply put, if the Mourner had evolved into a Golden Tier being back then, it could have easily destroyed a cross-sea bridge. The reason why the Undead Mage had not displayed terrifying power now was due to a lack of raw materials.

If an Undead Mage was in a place like the Bone Plain, where Undead Creatures were gathered, they would be sufficient to confront two enemies of the same tier.

The endless bone tide, even if each weak Skeleton only caused -1 damage to the opponent, the sheer numbers would still make it difficult for many to escape the assault.

An Undead Mage was already so terrifying, and if there was another ally, one wouldn’t dare claim to walk unimpeded in this world, but Chen Feng would become a figure not easily provoked.

Three doors to gold.

This kind of power isn’t something everyone can endure.

Chen Feng focused intently on the Abyssal fissure before him. If he could, he hoped to summon some melee-type monsters this time.

For example, the three-headed hellhound or a Fallen Angel—both were melee-type Summoned Beasts. At the very least, summoning a Four-armed Serpent Demon would be beneficial, with its strong agility combined with four arms, it could bring tremendous pressure to the enemy during combat.

However, just as Chen Feng was filled with anticipation, a strange figure suddenly slipped out of the fissure.

Slip?

Indeed, this Summoned Beast could be described with that word.

Because what Chen Feng summoned was a pitch-black shadow.

A shadow emerged from the fissure. It stood there, appearing as nothing more than an ordinary projection, devoid of any distinct qualities.

Chen Feng’s expression carried a trace of amusement.

As a Summoner, Chen Feng had summoned many monsters in his two lifetimes, but never had he summoned such a peculiar entity.

How should one describe it?

It was somewhat too ordinary.

From its appearance, one couldn’t discern the shadow’s gender since it constantly twisted, resembling countless lives merging into one, with shadows at the edges shifting every second.

Man? Woman? Beast?

The shadow was formless, and with such an appearance, Chen Feng couldn’t even determine what it was.

Flora stood by, witnessing it all, and upon seeing Chen Feng summon a shadow, she also walked forward with a hint of curiosity.

"Squeak..."

One step, two steps, and just when she was about to get close, the shadow suddenly trembled, then swiftly, like a streak of light, rushed towards Flora.

The shadow instantly changed its form, like ink slowly oozing, bubbling like a pot of boiling fat!

These inky substances then floated, resembling a beast that had eyed its desired prey, charging towards Flora.

Flora was a bit surprised, obviously not expecting the newly appeared Summoned Beast to suddenly make a move against her. However, as an adept Warrior, Flora would not be easily subdued. Just as the shadow was about to reach her, Flora stretched her legs and leaped up.

—Agility!

Flora possessed extraordinary agility, and such a sudden attack wasn’t enough to catch her off guard.

Just then, Flora focused on the shadow, her canine teeth slightly revealed as she entered combat mode. As a Master of Fist, she was intensely attuned to combat, often showcasing her fangs the moment she was deemed prey.

—Critical Strike!

Flora clenched her fist, stomping with such force that the hard ground sunk three inches. Though her fist appeared delicate, it unleashed a force of over a thousand pounds. In the face of such power, even an elephant would be hammered to death, reduced to a heap of fragmented flesh.

"Boom!"

A loud explosion, the ground where the shadow stood suddenly shattered, yet an astonishing sight appeared: the shadow, as the attacked entity, remained unharmed.

"Immune to physical attacks?"

Seeing this, Chen Feng fell into contemplation.

During the fight between the two, he didn’t stop it, as he also wanted to gauge the shadow’s abilities. And at the moment Flora acted, he received shocking information—that the shadow before him could actually ignore physical attacks.

Could such a thing exist in the Abyss?

Of course.

For instance, Ghosts, Shadow Dragons, or other Undead, all possessed this trait.

However...

Undead were filled with the aura of death, making anyone feel a putrid stench of death wherever they went, yet this Summoned Beast before him seemed like a pure shadow, devoid of any scent, filled with a void-like power.

"Void..."

Chen Feng furrowed his brow, sinking into thought.

The Abyss had numerous Divine Systems, and the power of void reminded Chen Feng of a powerful Evil God.

Shire.

The primordial dark, absolute void before time began, a cold divinity longing intensely to return to the tranquil void of primordial times. Therefore, from the shadows, Shire plots to destroy all civilizations and Order. Her holy symbol is a black disk with a purple rim. In church artworks, Shire is often depicted as a beautiful woman in black with long ebony hair; her unforgettable purple eyes holding deep black pupils representing primordial void.

Shire (Dark Night Goddess)

A formidable Divine Power from the Gray Wilderness.

Domain: Shadow Realm

Alignment: True Neutral Evil

Divine Office: Dark Realm, Night, Hatred, Loss, Forgetfulness, Sleep, Nightmares, Illusions, Lies, Deception, Unrevealed Secrets, Hidden Places, Betrayal, Insidiousness, Temptation, Thieves, Theft, Murder, Winter.

The strength of an Evil God could be measured by their represented Divine Offices. As the Dark Night Goddess, through the long river of history, anyone owning even one attribute could be deemed powerful, but Shire possessed nineteen Divine Office attributes.

And the believers of Shire were immensely powerful. The main types include: Assassins, Avengers, Martial Monks, Nihilists, Thieves, and Shadow Magic Network Users.

Judging by status, they surpass the followers of the Dance Goddess by a significant margin.

Shire is worshipped by those seeking to mock or manipulate others’ lives through illusions, lies, betrayal, rebellion, instigation, or murder.

She’s also revered by the blind, nocturnal creatures, beings or groups residing underground, and by those who abhor light. Additionally, she has the faith of many who prefer the darkness, engage in underground trades, or conduct their operations at night, such as thieves.

Hatred and loss are the essence of Shire. She is so abnormal and eccentric that she is deeply twisted by unutterable evil and endless petty hatred and suspicion. She rules over hidden, unforgettable pain, meticulously planned torture and conspiracies, as well as quietly pursued revenge for no matter how insignificant or old the matters may be.

Her offices include betrayal, lies, illusions, theft, and temptation. In her view, any means is justified to achieve her ends. She can always clearly sense anything and any small movement in the darkness.
