Chapter 838: Ocean Base
Chapter 838: Chapter 811: Ocean Base
The Dark Child was sent back to the Abyss by Chen Feng, as he discovered that the negative emotions surrounding the entity were impossible to hide, meaning that each second of its presence exerted significant psychological pressure on those nearby.
This served as a warning to Chen Feng that in situations with many people, especially ordinary individuals, he must avoid—no, he absolutely cannot summon the Dark Child.
In the wake of the apocalypse, ordinary people endure more pressure than professionals. They once had happy lives and respectable jobs, but with the advent of disaster, everything vanished in an instant. The Order initially gave them the courage to survive, allowing them to tolerate the pain.
Yet, if influenced by the Dark Child, they could very likely break down in an instant, and then the Order, once filled with hope, might transform into a realm of Purgatory.
However, this isn’t entirely negative.
The Dark Child is effectively a large-scale psychic weapon of mass destruction. After careful consideration, Chen Feng realized it might have unexpected uses in certain special scenarios.
Currently, the Legendary Flame Demon is merging with divinity in an attempt to ascend. Saruman remains at the site of the Demigod Mummy’s self-destruction, where massive grudges linger and tens of thousands were slaughtered, alongside several powerful beings’ demise, creating an intense concentration of Necromancer Aura.
Saruman previously pleaded with Chen Feng to allow it to stay there, the endless aura of death perhaps holding the key to its pursuit of Epic status.
To ascend to Epic from Legendary, power and opportunity are both indispensable.
For these reasons, Chen Feng lost two of his capable aides and, with no one left to utilize, was in urgent need of new blood.
Now, the addition of the Dark Child undoubtedly strengthens Chen Feng’s foundation.
…………….
On the vast sea, the Heaven-Reaching Python moves swiftly, three days since the summoning of new servants. With the supplementation of food and exotic beast blood, it has recovered to peak condition.
At its peak, the Heaven-Reaching Python’s speed is extraordinary, gliding over the sea like a sliver dart, often shooting dozens of meters with a single flash.
According to known intelligence, it will take roughly twenty more days to return to the Order, and the Heaven-Reaching Python must maintain its current speed to do so.
Chen Feng previously stockpiled a large amount of food in a broken dimension. Though the dimension remains in its gloomy state, it doesn’t affect the sourcing of supplies, so the group doesn’t need to worry about food and water.
Sailing on the sea, seeing the same scene every day leads to a degree of melancholy. After all, enduring harsh environments is bearable, but the stifling life and isolation from the outside world can be quite painful.
However, this has little impact on Chen Feng. Contrarily, amidst recent upheavals, his mind was restless, so this voyage is perfect for him to settle his mind.
With his ascension to Legendary, Chen Feng can ingest energy from the air and survive for months without eating or drinking. After giving Wei Xun a few instructions, he immersed himself in this mystical state.
Ten days slipped away quietly.
At this point, Chen Feng’s senses were entirely self-shielded, and he was in absolute stillness.
After days of spiritual cleansing, Chen Feng dispelled considerable inner shadows, which meant that even if the Dark Child were placed by his side now, he wouldn’t lose composure as before; instead, he would suppress the irritation.
A room needs to be cleaned when dirty, and the heart is no different. In the apocalypse, it’s like living in a filthy dump. Periodically, one should settle down to dispel unnecessary thoughts and keep the “soul” always clean.
Otherwise, when advancing to the next level, unresolved thoughts could lead to failing the ascension.
Being within the Order, Chen Feng was exceedingly busy, leaving him with no opportunity for cleansing. However, things were different now, far away with no Order affairs to worry about. If he could sustain through this journey, his Spiritual Power might reach a higher realm.
But in this world, things often don’t go as planned. Just as Chen Feng attempted to continue his retreat, hurried footsteps suddenly echoed nearby, followed by Wei Xun’s voice: “Master… there’s a situation ahead…”
Though Chen Feng screened his senses, he was aware of occurrences in the surroundings. Before commencing his retreat, he instructed Wei Xun not to call on him unless absolutely necessary. Yet now, Wei Xun’s breathing was hurried and his steps unsteady, indicating some uncertain situation that caused a Golden-ranked individual to lose his composure.
Thankfully, after these dozen days of retreat, Chen Feng’s heart was eighty percent cleansed. Though somewhat regretful, he had accomplished considerable progress compared to before. Thinking of this, Chen Feng shifted his body and opened his eyes.
Wei Xun, always by Chen Feng’s side, knew the other hadn’t consumed water for over ten days, yet Chen Feng’s complexion was healthy, showing no signs of malnutrition. Now with eyes opened, compared to before, his gaze is clearer as if a shining mirror capable of capturing all things, allowing no secrets.
“Congratulations on your advancing strength, Master!” Despite being unaware of what transpired, Wei Xun noticed evident changes in Chen Feng and hastily congratulated him.
“Mm.” Chen Feng didn’t speak more, then asked, “Wasn’t I clear about not disturbing me? What happened to cause your mind such tension?”
Chen Feng’s aura invoked respect without anger, and though he didn’t reprimand Wei Xun, the depth of his presence imparted a pressure akin to falling into the abyss below the sea.
Wei Xun’s forehead was slightly sweaty; this individual, influential within the Order and a nightmare for countless foes, now appeared visibly anxious.
“Master, something strange lies ahead. The Heaven-Reaching Python detected signs of activity from kilometers away. Moments ago, it appeared agitated as if something daunting lay ahead. I communicated with it via Beast Soul and learned several presences far stronger, tenfold over the Python are stationed ahead. It’s crucial; I implore your forgiveness for interrupting.” Wei Xun organized his thoughts before explaining to Chen Feng.
“Presences stronger than the Heaven-Reaching Python, over tenfold? Not just one presence; does this mean more than one Legendary entity lies ahead?” Chen Feng quickly pinpointed the heart of the matter from Wei Xun’s description.
“Continue forward!” Pre-emptive retreat without confrontation wasn’t Chen Feng’s style, so he instructed Wei Xun to direct the Heaven-Reaching Python forward, eager to see what lay ahead.
Despite its reluctance, the Heaven-Reaching Python continued forging ahead under Wei Xun’s command. The remaining kilometers were trivial to this exotic beast, and after ten minutes, what lay before them shocked Wei Xun and Lu Wei to the core.
Chen Feng was equally stunned; what did he see?
Hundreds of ships linked together, rocking upon the sea surface, and vague silhouettes of people still visible traversing and walking upon them.
This… it’s simply a haven on the sea, a sea fortress built by human ingenuity!
