Chapter 486 306: Absolutely Not Leaving the Sect
There are countless strange tales and rumors in the Great Domain, some true, some false. Lu Chang'sheng didn't dare judge any of them just by reading a book.
He treated it as a little entertainment.
After reaching Foundation Establishment, his spiritual sense soared, his memory improved too. If he ever encountered something for real, it wouldn't be too late to remember it then.
"If I want to keep advancing now, the first thing I need is resources. Just refining ordinary Qi Cultivation pills isn't going to cut it."
There's only so much one person can do.
He was all alone. The Little Fire Cloud Beast barely counted as half a helper. Even if he spent all night on alchemy, the payoff was still lacking compared to Foundation Establishment cultivators.
So next, he'd have to slowly start refining Foundation Establishment level pills.
Pills of that caliber were way more profitable than those for Qi Cultivation.
Of course, if he could run something like the White Cloud Pharmacy in Platinum Immortal City, he'd make even more money, but building up that kind of operation was full of complications.
Even a Foundation Establishment cultivator like Master Baiyun was recruited by the Supreme Profound Sect to Purple Ice Lake, only to end up dead and gone, right?
"Secondly, it's a new Spirit Body Cultivation Technique."
Spirit Body techniques meant a lot to him. The Cyan Spirit method he'd used before had its limits.
After a bit more reading, Lu Chang'sheng got up, wanting to chat with Dai Chun about Foundation Establishment experience. But Nangua told him Dai Chun couldn't stand being cooped up and had gone out.
Left with no choice, he kept reading his book.
He'd just entered Foundation Establishment. His lifespan had increased quite a bit, so he didn't mind waiting these couple of months.
In a blink, half a month passed.
One day, Dai Chun came back and talked to Lu Chang'sheng about things over at Purple Ice Lake.
Maybe he still had some misgivings about Lu Chang'sheng, so Dai Chun kept it vague, only mentioning that escorting the main ingredients for the Crystal Pill had gone smoothly.
At the latest, they'd be delivered to the sect by next month.
"Good to hear it went well." Lu Chang'sheng finally relaxed. He didn't want any trouble. Joining the Immortal Sect was all about getting a fairly stable environment to cultivate in. If something really went wrong, he'd probably have to run again.
"So there's no need to be so nervous. I have a Daoist friend visiting soon. Heard you're a newly advanced Foundation Establishment, wants to meet you, so don't snub their kindness, Fellow Daoist Lu!"
Lu Chang'sheng hesitated, then asked, "Where's your friend from?"
"Don't worry," Dai Chun smiled, "he's the ancestor of a family from Ice and Fire Immortal City. Just like you, he's passionate about alchemy, so he specifically asked for you."
He added that he'd known this friend since the Qi Cultivation stage, that his background was clean, no worries about trouble.
Lu Chang'sheng knew what he meant by a "clean background"—that is, someone bound by family ties, not the sort to cross the Immortal Sect lightly.
"How about this? We've only got a bit of time left anyway. Why not have your friend come a little later, and when the time comes I'll serve him Spirit Tea myself to apologize?" Lu Chang'sheng said.
"Still afraid something will go wrong?"
Dai Chun frowned.
"To be honest, I am worried. We're the only two Foundation Establishment cultivators in the sect right now. If we get caught up outside, and something happens here, the Mountain Guardian Spirit Array won't activate. If, by chance, something really does happen and the array fails, even if the Sect Leader brings back the main component of the Crystal Pill, we couldn't stop a Golden Core cultivator. If that happens—"
Lu Chang'sheng cautioned him.
"You make a fair point." Dai Chun wasn't lacking in sense. Hearing Lu Chang'sheng, he quickly nodded.
Besides, it was just another month or so, cultivators at their level could spare the time.
"I'll talk to him, then." Dai Chun nodded, but the next moment shook his head. "You're right, can't be too careful. The mountain gate takes priority."
Lu Chang'sheng nodded. Elder Yan had Dai Chun guarding the sect not just because he was trustworthy, but also because he listened.
Dai Chun took out a Sound Transmission Shell and sent a message.
The other party was quite close with him, so of course they'd exchanged Sound Transmission Shells.
Good Beast Immortal City.
In a secluded villa, a white-robed cultivator took out a Sound Transmission Shell. Hearing Dai Chun speak, his brow twitched.
He replied, "Seems Fellow Daoist Lu looks down on me a bit. So be it, perhaps we're not fated. But Daoist brother, what do you mean by this? I'm leaving in two days tops. You won't even spare me a cup of tea?"
Dai Chun felt a little embarrassed, but recalling what Lu Chang'sheng said, he could only apologize repeatedly.
After a while, the white-robed cultivator cut off the Sound Transmission Shell, his expression growing dark.
He'd wanted to lure both of Good Beast Sect's Foundation Establishment cultivators out in one go. Now, neither would come, and the first one was gone too.
"Did that Lu Chang'sheng sense something?"
The white-robed cultivator looked suspiciously to the other side, where a short temple priest stood.
He was new here, so he couldn't be the problem. The trouble must lie with one of Good Beast Sect's temple priests.
"Immortal, we temple priests couldn't possibly be the problem. We've only met Lu Chang'sheng that one time. Even when we deal with him, it's just regular duty,"
the temple priest answered.
The two of them searched for anything amiss but found nothing; they had to chalk it up to the other party being especially cautious and sensitive.
"So what do we do now?"
The temple priest was helpless. If the two from Good Beast Sect hadn't entered the Array Institute, there'd still be ways, but once inside, they'd always have a Golden Core's backing—no way to get close enough to swallow them whole.
The white-robed cultivator was helpless too: "No rush, we'll look for another chance."
He really did have a headache. The Good Beast Sect was too wary—he didn't dare act rashly.

Days went by, and Dai Chun started doing what Lu Chang'sheng did—reading books whenever he had nothing going on.
That friend he'd mentioned left more than ten days ago, sending Dai Chun a message before departing.
Dai Chun didn't go to see him off.
Most of the two months set by the Sect Leader had already passed; heading out now would waste all they'd worked for.
If Old Dai really made up his mind, he'd stick with it to the end.
"Aren't you making me lose my progress here?" Dai Chun said to Lu Chang'sheng.
Lu Chang'sheng just smiled and praised Old Dai a little.
The two continued reading, swapping cultivation insights now and then.
Old Dai was at the third level of Foundation Establishment, right at the pinnacle of early stage, but he'd been stuck there for ages.
Still, he was ahead of Lu Chang'sheng in cultivation.
"There are nine levels in Foundation Establishment. Each step brings a big power boost, but the real bottlenecks are the three checkpoints."
"Level three to four is a hurdle, six to seven is another, then from ninth level to Fake Pill is the last one."
