Chapter 314: Feline Fae
They talked for a while and Selin was able to learn about Erin’s story.
Erin was very similar to Selina in many aspects. Her parents abandoned her not out of malice but responsibility just like Selina.
Her mother was Vendria, the Evening Star of the Moon Court. She was the most beautiful Fae among Telara’s servants.
Vendria was Telara’s favorite. She brought her everywhere. The endless party in the endless night that lasted years.
The game in the woods with the Nature Spirits.
The Battle between the Courts to settle the conflict of the Moon and the Sun.
She even brought her to the human world and saw how fickle and short their lives could be.
Telara could never anticipate that one of her most loyal servants would love an ordinary mortal.
Telara was a jealous and possessive kind. Mater liked her. Because she was also crazy.
She actually had a lot of similarity with Selina. Both deemed gothic as their primary fashion and they could be quite passionate. But Telara only wanted Mater for herself.
Mater was a free cat and he belonged to no one.
After Telara found out that Vendria ’betrayed’ her for a man, she did not take it well. Mater also just abandoned her not too long ago.
She lost her most prized possession. The Blood Warlock of Enderthal. And she was mad.
Vendria reminded her of her failure. Telara sent assassins after them. Vendria managed to send her lover and child away.
They didn’t have too many years of happiness. But it was worth it. That short time with Erin’s father was when Vendria felt most alive. Despite her hundreds years of experience.
Telara caught Vendria and her fate was unknown.
Erin’s father did not give up. Once Erin was able to take care of herself. He vowed to find a path to the Everlasting Wild and rescued his wife and Erin’s mother.
The reason why Erin missed the opening ceremony was because she had gone to say goodbye to her father.
"Yo! Did I really hear that right?"
Erin turned toward Mater. She had heard that he was a Spirit Beast and capable of speaking human tongue. Still, when she heard it. She was still in shock.
Mater was very friendly with her. But he always refused to talk. He really liked to climb in her bed though and sprawled his soft body over her when Selina was taking classes.
"You finally talk, kitty!" Erin shared a bright smile.
"Yeah. Yeah. I was the one that saved you by the way." The black cat’s deep voice echoed.
"You?!" Erin widened her eyes.
"Mater has... history with Telara. He made a deal with her for your freedom." Selina said.
"My freedom?" Erin said.
"All Fae must bow to their king and queen. They must show up in their corresponding courts or deem traitor to the Everlasting Wild. Telara could also summon the energy of the Fey within you and caused your body to mutate quickly." The black cat’s deep voice echoed.
"Mutate? Are my ears going to be pointy?" Erin gasped.
"Not exactly. Fae are humanoid beings with animal traits." The black cat meowed. "That depiction that you see is more aligned with Elf."
"Animal traits? I can turn into an animal?" Erin said.
"Yup. And you will have animal parts too once your Fae Blood matures. I already know what kind of animal you are." The black cat stroked his whiskers with a wide grin.
"Don’t tell me..."
"That’s right, baby. You’re a cat!" The black cat laughed out loud.
Mater figured out why he felt so at ease with Erin since the first time they met and why she had that cat scent on her.
She was a Feline Fae. A Fae with cat characteristics.
"Oh no..." Erin pretended to be worried. "Actually, I think I always knew that. I just don’t quite understand what it is. But I do now."
"Good. Then I should tell you about our deal with Telara."
Mater told Erin about the Battle of the Courts and the two hundred men and women that Telara asked.
Erin stood up immediately. "No. You can’t do this! I will not trade my lives for the lives of two innocent souls!"
"Please. You think I would be that stupid? They will fight but they won’t die. I’ll make sure of it." The black cat said.
"What do you mean?" Erin frowned.
"You’ll understand eventually. However, I am here to give you an offer."
"What offer?" Erin covered her chest again. The way that cat looked at her was no different from those perverts. Mater’s gaze felt like he wanted to strip her bare.
Actually, the cat had already seen everything. And Erin didn’t mind it.
But now that they’re actually talking to each other, Erin felt like Mater was a man trapped inside the body of a cat, not a Spirit Beast.
The thought made her blush as she thought about all the things they did inside the dormitory.
"You perverted cat!"
"Hehehehehehehe." Mater shamelessly stroked his whiskers with an arrogant smile.
"Now you understand what is going on?" Selina said. "Well then. Stop messing with her and tell her your offer."
The black cat straightened its body and stood on its two hind legs. He coughed a few times to adjust his throat.
"Here’s the thing, Erin. I can help you master your Fae power instantly. You will not have the need to go through years and years of practice and training to master your Fae power."
"What’s the catch?" Erin said. She was a smart girl.
"You will belong to me, forever."
Erin’s cheeks turned into two tomatoes. "You! You can’t just ask something like that out of nowhere!"
Selina grabbed the cat’s mouth. "What he’s saying is, he could make you his servant."
"What does it mean exactly?"
Selina continued, "It means that your enemies will be our enemies. And our enemies will be your enemies. You can never betray us and must listen to our commands.
Of course, we won’t make you do anything that you won’t like. We will have the power to do that, I have to be cleared. But Mater won’t force you and I will make sure he won’t.
This is an offer as he has said and not an order. We saved you from Telara’s grasp and we understand if you do not want to submit to the same fate with someone else..."
"I heard enough. Where do I sign?"
