"Master Mentor, did something happen?"
The commotion inside Loren's house was quite loud, and some people had been scared away. The King and others guarding outside immediately rushed in.
The King was surrounded by many guards, but at least he had come personally, choosing to take the risk himself to improve his standing with Loren.
"Nothing much, I just encountered an assassination attempt, and it's been dealt with now."
"What? An assassination attempt?"
Loren's words gave the King a fright. Right under his watch, Loren had been attacked. If anything really happened to Loren, he didn't know how to explain it to the Church, and his position as King might become unstable.
"Do you know who the culprit was?"
"Yes, Dreamwalkers, Divine Envoys of the God of Dreams."
Loren didn't give specific details, fearing he might alert the enemy. Moreover, whether it was the King or the Church, Phoris was somewhat beyond their comprehension. Even if they tried to help, they wouldn't be of much use.
