Chapter 462 - 240: Cursed by God? (2)
Aileen bowed her head and slowly shuffled her steps, approaching Baiyi.
Baiyi’s right hand quickly transformed into a shape resembling a chair. With a swift motion, he scooped up the Elf, letting her sit on his arm.
He raised his arm and walked out, carrying her directly.
"Uh, where are we going?"
Aileen instinctively turned her head to look back, but her view was blocked by the chair’s backrest. Baiyi walked steadily, asking, "What are we staying here for? Once you finish receiving the inheritance, we’ll leave."
"But...."
"This world is inherently cruel; how many beings can you care for?" Baiyi said calmly.
Aileen bowed her head in silence, but the sense of loss on her grew stronger.
"Whether it’s a Curse Doctor or a Life Sacrifice, they’re just different types of healers." Baiyi mused, making an analogy: "The Goddess of Life serves as a good example."
"The Goddess?" Aileen raised her head, her eyes filled with a complex emotion, staring intently at Baiyi. The Goddess of Life is the god of the Elf Race and is not allowed to be defamed by anyone.
"Yes." Baiyi paid her no mind and continued on his own, "Is the Goddess of Life only the god of the Elf Race?"
"Of course!"
"Is the Life Divine Teaching exclusive to the Elf Race?"
"Uh...."
"Yet she only protects the Elf Forest and elves outside of it, why is that?"
Aileen: ....
Baiyi glanced at the moonlight in the sky: "The Sun and Moon project across All Heavens and Myriad Realms, but cannot enter the Undead and Abyss. Is it that the Sun God and Moon God are unwilling to bathe the world with sun and moon?"
"As a qualified Transcendent, Aileen, many things will never be perfect; we merely strive to pursue perfection..... even Gods."
"We cannot blindly indulge our kindness or malice; we need a baseline. Although this baseline won’t change anything, it can strengthen your inner self."
"Sleep now, I’ll wake you when we arrive...."
"Mm...."
The moonlight stretched their shadows long, the Transcendent behind them watching their backs, momentarily silent. Ronnie clenched her clothing tightly but did not follow.
She turned with weary eyes and continued her busy work.
Moans rose in the forest, but quickly fell silent.
Baiyi walked forward calmly, both girls asleep on him as he looked at the moonlight of this world.
Feeling the world slice at his consciousness, yet unable to shake the Saint’s will due to its own fragility.
Curse Doctors... what a terrifying bunch.
As he walked, some Magnetic Mechanisms gathered toward him, but were collected into the Space Ring.
When sunlight illuminated the earth, the golden afterglow awakened the sleeping girl.
"Boss Brother... where are we?"
A voice, like a murmur, sounded. Luoning nuzzled against Baiyi’s back but felt it hard, somewhat uncomfortable.
"On the mountain road, we’re heading to the Royal City."
Baiyi replied softly.
The surrounding trees withered, an effect naturally emanating from Aileen’s aura, merging with some elements of this world.
In other words, this still-sleeping Aileen was now a pathogen, bringing disease wherever she went.
Luoning raised her head to look, noticing the silver strands of hair on Baiyi’s shoulder. The fog in her eyes dissipated, and her voice lowered: "Alright, Boss Brother, let me down, I can walk on my own."
"No need, sense your surroundings."
Luoning paused, following Baiyi’s words to perceive; golden brilliance filled her gaze, and suddenly, she felt a chill.
She shrank back, asking: "What’s that?"
"This world’s secret."
Baiyi’s voice was soft, but everything around them was being infected by the plague, many small animals unable to withstand the parasitic invasion, dying abruptly. This journey... was very quiet.
Even the slightest sounds could be heard clearly.
"Secret?"
"Yes."
Baiyi glanced at Chuyang, calmly saying: "Why do Curse Doctors share such uniformity? The thoughts of intelligent beings are always complex, even with the same experiences, there are always differences. Yet this inheritance achieves what should be impossible, why?"
Without waiting for Luoning’s response, he calmly stated: "The source of Curse Doctors... is an unknown Divine Level entity. Perhaps the Ancient Gods disregard these minor nuisances, but the New God cannot tolerate them, which is why this Profession disappears."
Speaking with some calm, Baiyi said: "And where we’re headed now... is to find the source of the beguilement."
"Curse Doctor... doctors cursed by Gods..." Luoning found it incredible, "Then, Boss Brother, is there a way to remove such a Curse?"
"It’s not a Curse." Baiyi thought and explained: "Like Diane’s Undead Body, if Gods desire, they can shape an immensely Powerful inheritance, and Aileen’s is similar to Diane’s, only hers is more dangerous."
Baiyi considered: "If she doesn’t accept the beguilement to obtain this Power, it would be beneficial for Aileen."
"But if Sister Aileen meets that God...."
Baiyi smiled and said: "No worries, when Gods can descend, it’d take at least a century. Who can say what will happen a hundred years from now?"
Luoning said no more, lying flat on Baiyi’s back, motionless.
Unable to see or hear, yet able to stir specific emotions of bewilderment...
Baiyi looked up, and in his view, the azure sky was not this beautiful color but was filled with thick black mist.
A beam of light penetrated these mists, shining on him.
This beam was circular, reflected in his eyes as a unique symbol.
That was the Saint’s Mark, and also the current terror of the Holy Soul.
A thousand plus points of Spiritual Strength, not something this world could withstand. If Baiyi wishes, he could destroy this world anytime with Spirit!
Continuing his stride, Baiyi gradually quickened his pace, yet remained steady. By noon, the silver-haired Elf on his arm finally awoke.
"Uh, boss, where are we going?"
"Royal City."
"What are we doing there?"
"Make money."
Aileen: ....
She stared at the surrounding withering trees, eyes wide: "Eh? You... this... I... capital... ah.... no going!"
She was somewhat tongue-tied, clearly aware that she carried some fearsome virus, and going to the Royal City to harm people, causing them all to fall ill, then performing surgery to earn money.
The act of poisoning to sell the cure, even typical capitalists wouldn’t do that, right?
Isn’t this beyond capitalism?
Watching the struggling Elf wanting to get down, Baiyi’s tone was icy: "If you leave, you’ll be cursed, are you sure you want to go down?"
"Sister Aileen..." Luoning said at this moment: "Boss Brother blocked the God’s beguilement, there’s a God’s Mark in this world...."
Aileen: ....
Mid-struggle, she froze, expression quite odd: "I get it, but but but... poisoning to sell cures...."
"If you go, the inheritance accelerates, only a part of the Royal City needs to die. If you don’t, the God’s Mark cannot be removed, here, everyone must die."
Baiyi smiled and asked: "Any more questions?"
"Uh, huh? No... none..."
"Then shut up, and make money hard!"
"Oh, alright..."
They quickly reached the Capital City, taking about three days of this world’s time. During these three days, the two girls never left Baiyi’s person.
Baiyi didn’t enter the Royal City directly, just idled about a hundred kilometers outside of it.
He needed more permissions, and such permissions were like him entering here, requiring time.
Baiyi was certain it wouldn’t take long before such permissions arrived, for this world attempted to slice a Saint’s consciousness.
Yet it lacked the power...
