Chapter 374: Symphony Of Death
[Hospital.]
In one of the high-security wards reserved for tournament combatants, the air was heavy.
"Don’t worry, Buck. Everything will be okay." Eve said with a small smile, staring at Buck on the bed, who was busy staring at the ceiling.
"I am alright, Captain... I am just angry. Angry that I can’t get my revenge." He muttered, his fists clenched tightly against the pristine white sheets. His body was a map of brutal, lingering injuries from his encounter in the arena.
Eve sighed. She pulled her chair slightly closer. "Are you sure Jessica was the one who massacred that Village?" She asked in a low voice.
Buck’s eyes snapped to hers, wild and bloodshot. "I know she is the one! I saw her!! She slaughtered everyone! Including children! You weren’t there so you won’t understand!!" Buck yelled at her, his voice cracking as the horrific memories of the burning village overwhelmed his senses.
Eve was taken aback, staring at him in surprise. The raw agony in his voice was undeniable.
Noticing his words was a bit harsh, the fire in his eyes dimmed, and lowered his gaze to his heavily bandaged legs: "I am sorry."
Eve stared at him, and exhaled, releasing the tension in her own shoulders. She understood the blinding rage of survival all too well. "Don’t worry about this issue, Master teacher Keegan is investigating it." She said, stood up, and walked towards the door.
"You need rest." She added.
"Captain." Buck muttered in a low voice, a lingering plea for validation in his tone, staring at Eve, who opened the door.
WHOOSH!
