With One Blade, Overturning Konoha!

Chapter 158: Spoils of War, Akatsuki’s White Tiger!

The beautiful night was ultimately ruined by that old woman.

Walking through the streets of Konoha, Hakken let out a long sigh. The flames of frustration within him were truly hard to suppress. There was nothing to be done about it. Tsunade had arrived at just the right moment—though she probably hadn’t expected Hakken and Yūgao to be so bold.

In the end, he hadn’t done anything strange in front of Tsunade. That was a show of respect for the young girl.

He glanced at his right hand, then at the bulging bulge of his pants, lost in thought. Tsunade, that old hag, had taken Yūgao away. She’d used her master’s tone, no less.

Yes, to ensure that his precious girl had enough combat strength and to give her a little confidence to catch up with him. That’s why Hakken had asked Tsunade to take her on as a disciple.

What surprised him, though, was that Yūgao Uzuki Yūgao’s talent had truly blossomed. Recently, she’d been experimenting with infusing her brute strength into her chakra sword.

It was a dangerous idea—but with Tsunade watching over her, there was no need to worry.

The most important thing, however, was that Hakken was still hoping to pry the Yin Seal out of Tsunade.

Hmm, just think of Tsunade, still youthful and radiant in Boruto, and you’ll understand Hakken’s true goal. When your wife remains as beautiful in her seventies as she was in her youth, driving such a vehicle... it would surely offer a unique experience.

Hakken looked down, drawing in a deep breath. But in this state, going straight home would likely lead to trouble.

Anko habitually slept in her own bed. Though it was quite thrilling... Hmph. Hand? Impossible.

Konoha just so happened to have a pitiful woman who needed a lesson.

Shaking his hand, Hakken let out a cold laugh and strode forward.

...

“Amegakure... gone...”

In a side courtyard near the ANBU quarters, deep within Konoha's heart, Jiraiya sighed.

Before him stood his former student. After regaining her composure, she had been informed of the current state of Amegakure.

A vacuum zone! Not a trace of its former existence remained. A physical disappearance.

Jiraiya understood that this blow would be massive for Konan. Yet, the reality was that she would have to learn to bear it all. Otherwise, she would have no place in Konoha moving forward!

Though it was harsh.

Sighing again, Jiraiya, who had initially wanted to talk with Konan, found himself at a loss. How could he bring it up? She had been staring vacantly, tears streaming down her face, before uttering the words, “Amegakure is gone.”

Hakken's actions had been extreme, yes. But he must have had his reasons.

Having come to believe that the Child of the Prophecy was Hakken Yoru, Jiraiya could no longer deny the truth of Hakken’s actions. After all, he had eyes. He could see the changes in Konoha, and how both the villagers and the ninjas valued their lives here more than ever.

Moreover, the Night Owl Team had only ended up in Amegakure because Jiraiya had infiltrated it without authorization.

If anyone was to blame, it was likely his responsibility that things had gone this far.

So, in this matter—whether it was pleading for mercy or dealing with the aftermath—he had no authority to speak.

Jiraiya understood that much.

“I'll handle this.”

A figure landed in the courtyard. In the darkness, the crimson glow in his eyes instantly confirmed his identity to Konan, who immediately lunged forward.

“I’ll kill you!”

Her home was gone. The Akatsuki organization, built over more than a decade, was gone. Her only companion's fate was unknown. But most likely, he was already dead.

No one could bear such an outcome. Consumed by despair, Konan only wanted to find her enemy and die with him.

But as she tried to summon her chakra to activate the Dance of the Shikigami, her body suddenly went limp, collapsing straight into Hakken’s arms.

How strong was Shisui’s genjutsu? Strong enough to alter the will of someone with a Mangekyō Sharingan!

After returning to Konoha, Hakken had specifically asked Shisui to reinforce the genjutsu. The conditions for triggering this genjutsu were strange and twisted. Its goal? Destruction! And the first to be destroyed... could only be herself.

Yet the process of destruction was something that Hakken savored. This, too, was the reason he was here.

“You may leave now.”

Hakken glanced at Jiraiya, then hoisted Konan onto his shoulder and entered the room.

Hand her over to him? Jiraiya shook his head and turned away. How Hakken dealt with Konan was beyond his control.

Stay and eavesdrop? No. With that little brat’s perception, being discovered would only make things worse.

Dawn. A ray of sunlight streamed into the room, falling upon Konan’s face, filled with despair and rage.

She had fallen victim to an illusion! And not just once or twice!

After the engine’s humming began, she had regained her senses. But as she reignited the fiery anger in her heart, wanting to use her ninjutsu to eliminate the man before her, the illusion struck again. This time, it was even stronger. This time, she was the one who had initiated it!

Shame! In her despair, she wanted to kill herself. But the genjutsu’s effect struck again!

Suicide attempt failed. Murder attempt failed.

She had lost the most important thing. Even now, she leaned weakly against his shoulder, appearing utterly submissive!

Is this still me?

A flood of insane images in her mind shocked her. I am Akatsuki’s angel! A messenger of the gods! Why would I do such a thing?

Finally, her gaze turned to the man beside her. The feeling of seething hatred with nowhere to release it was suffocating. Thɪs chapter is updatᴇd by novelfire.net

“Don’t look at me like that.”

Hakken snapped his eyes open, grabbed the sake gourd beside him, and took a large gulp.

Shisui’s genjutsu was just too powerful. Thankfully. His body was solid, and his physical constitution was practically ironclad. So this kind of consumption wasn’t too bad.

He’d dealt with the problem left by Tsunade last night. Hakken felt it was time for a proper conversation.

“I will kill you.”

Konan had calmed, the hatred now buried deep in her eyes. Since it was an illusion, there had to be a way to break it. Though she’d tried disrupting her chakra countless times, it still hadn’t worked.

But every technique has its weakness—that much was certain. Once she recovered, those six hundred billion explosive tags would be delivered to Konoha without fail.

But Hakken had already read her mind. Gripping her chin with one hand, Hakken smiled.

“Behave yourself, Byakko.”

The woman truly lived up to her name—sometimes a title fit its bearer perfectly. Akatsuki’s “Byakko” was indeed a white tiger.

“To repay your dutiful service, I’ll share some truths.”

“Like whose eyes Nagato Uzumaki truly possesses.”

“Or who exploited that pitiful soul.”

His gaze fixed on Konan as she stared at him in shock, and Hakken wore an amused smile.

“Interested?”

“Then fall for one more genjutsu.”
