Chapter 604 - 704: Iron Bars
"What? Someone can actually unlock the Forbidden Spirit Lock?"
"We're saved! We're saved!"
"That's great, benefactor, please let us out quickly!"
Although Ye Tianfan hadn't pulled everyone out yet, people had already started calling him benefactor.
"Don't worry, I'll release as many of you as possible, and then we'll escape from this place together!" Ye Tianfan assured.
"Thank you so much, benefactor!"
Everyone began expressing their gratitude.
Ye Tianfan wrapped his body in Spiritual Power, then slowly stepped from the stone bed onto the floor filled with corrosive liquid.
Ye Tianfan needed to inspect the corrosiveness of the liquid, to see if his Spiritual Power could defend against it, and if so, how much Spiritual Power it would consume.
Ye Tianfan first dipped a leg in, discovering that while the liquid was highly corrosive, it barely corroded Spiritual Power, and the consumption of Spiritual Power was even less than its silent recovery.
So Ye Tianfan simply submerged his entire body, with the liquid just past his stomach.
Ye Tianfan slowly walked towards the main gate, wading through the liquid. Though the corrosive liquid consumed little Spiritual Power, it seemed denser than water, providing some resistance as Ye Tianfan moved through it.
But the resistance was not significant.
Ye Tianfan reached the cell door and observed that it had a small gate, also made of bars. The lock was embedded directly on the gate, with only one keyhole. Ye Tianfan bent down to peer into the keyhole, finding it too dark to see clearly, then extended his hand to push the small gate.
The moment Ye Tianfan's hand touched the barred gate, he felt a sudden emptiness, and the Spiritual Power Layer on his surface was rapidly disappearing.
Damn, this gate is also made of forbidden spirit materials; damn it.
Feeling the void inside him, Ye Tianfan quickly withdrew his hand.
Thankfully, Ye Tianfan retracted in time, so the Spiritual Power Layer on his surface hadn't completely dissipated and was quickly replenished by him.
The experiment subjects, seeing Ye Tianfan stopped by the gate, said nothing, instead watching nervously to see if he had a solution.
After all, before being experimented on, they were ordinary citizens who knew nothing about these things.
The only forbidden spirit lock they knew of was from after the experiments, as it sealed their Spiritual Power inside, and they couldn't feel it. They'd overheard their captors mention these locks were forbidden spirit locks, with the main purpose of sealing their Spiritual Power.
They were also often taken out for power tests and overheard some scattered, useful, and useless terms from the experimenters, expanding their limited knowledge a bit.
But that was all; they had no other knowledge. They didn't even know what material the doors that held them were made of, only that the ones taking them could open them easily.
Ye Tianfan felt troubled since forbidden spirit materials were usually quite hard, even the world's hardest material, Yademan Ore, was a forbidden spirit material.
And using force to open this gate wasn't realistic.
Although they had been loud earlier, cries, shouts, and even painful moans were common here, likely shut out by the guards.
However, forcing the door open would create a real loud noise, and vibrations through the cell walls would alert the guards immediately.
So forcing the door was not feasible, and from examining the keyhole, Ye Tianfan believed only a metal wire could unlock it, not a stick.
But without the habit of collecting metal wires, Ye Tianfan had none in the Xuanhuang Tower.
This troubled Ye Tianfan. If not for the forbidden spirit material, he could have pulled out a few hairs, twisted them, and infused them with Spiritual Power to harden them into makeshift wires. But with the forbidden spirit material, anything imbued with Spiritual Power couldn't touch it without the Spiritual Power being dissipated or suppressed.
"Hey! Do you guys have any metal wire?" Ye Tianfan asked the others; he had to ask. If they had some, it would be easier. If not, they'd have to figure out something; solutions always outnumber problems.
"Metal wire? No!"
"We don't have it here either!"
"No wire over here!"
With everyone indicating none, Ye Tianfan said again, "Even if it's not metal wire, anything thin, long, and hard will do!"
"Thin and long?"
"Hard?"
Everyone's gaze shifted towards a particular cell, and within that cell, all eyes were on one person.
"Hey, hey, hey! Why are you looking at me? Thin and long? Hard? No way! It hurts too much, no way, no way!"
Ye Tianfan hadn't noticed who everyone was looking at until the person spoke, revealing their identity.
As luck would have it, this person was diagonally opposite Ye Tianfan's cell, making it easy to see him at a glance. Ye Tianfan saw an extremely ordinary young man with a plain appearance and attire.
The only unusual aspect of this ordinary young man was his hair—or rather, not hair, but spikes.
The area where hair should be was filled with long, thin spikes.
These spikes pointed straight back, creating a slicked-back style.
Seeing this, Ye Tianfan's eyes lit up. This could work; although not as flexible as metal wire, with enough spikes and some manipulation, it should open the gate.
So Ye Tianfan said, "This could work perfectly, but I'll need several of them."
"Hey, hey, hey! Several? Do you know how painful it is to pull out even one? Several? No way! No way!" the young man turned pale at Ye Tianfan's request for several, quickly refusing!
