Chapter 947 - 913: Professional Interception
Xu Chunliang said, "We’ve known each other for so long, have I ever lied to you?"
Ye Qingya said, "Alright then, what do I need to do to prepare?"
Xu Chunliang looked around and pointed to the yoga mat in the exercise area, "How about we go over there? I’ll use my energy to help you drive out the cold."
The two of them sat cross-legged, facing each other on the yoga mat. Xu Chunliang instructed Ye Qingya to let her arms drop naturally, with her palms facing upward and placed on her knees. Actually, helping Ye Qingya drive out the cold is also about balancing yin and yang, just not as directly and deeply as when treating Xiahou Mulan, so the effect would be somewhat discounted.
Of course, Ye Qingya’s condition was a minor one. If she really were to have a serious illness, Xu Chunliang would be willing to make a sacrifice for his friend. He suddenly realized that since learning to balance yin and yang, he had become entirely selfless and focused on benefiting others. This sacrificial spirit was quite noble.
Xu Chunliang guided Ye Qingya to close her eyes and relax her body and mind, requiring complete trust in him. During the treatment, it was essential not to harbor any feelings of resistance or confrontation.
Ye Qingya adjusted her breathing to his rhythm; because of a stuffy nose, her breathing was relatively laborious.
After Xu Chunliang saw she was completely relaxed, he grasped the Taiyuan acupoint on her wrist.
The lungs dominate all the vessels, and the vessels converge at the Taiyuan acupoint. The lungs govern qi and respiration; qi is the commander of blood. Taiyuan opens at the third watch, receiving qi first. Tai signifies extreme greatness, while Yuan means abyss or deep hollow.
Taiyuan acupoint is located on the radial side of the wrist crease, along the Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian.
Xu Chunliang accurately located the Taiyuan acupoint on Ye Qingya’s hands and infused Innate Qi into it.
Ye Qingya felt as though a small hole had opened on her wrist, then two streams of warm qi entered it. Once the qi entered Ye Qingya’s Hand Lung Meridian, it immediately split into ascending and descending directions.
The descending qi flowed through the thumb mound toward the Shaoshang acupoint. Shang is classified according to the ancient five tones and six tunes: Gong, Shang, Jue, Wei, Yu, and is considered the root of the Lung Meridian in traditional medicine. Shao carries the meaning of yang emerging from yin.
Massaging or acupuncturing the Shaoshang acupoint can help to relieve the surface, clear heat, ease the throat, and revive consciousness.
Xu Chunliang’s method of balancing yin and yang was different from regular treatment methods. He was using Innate Qi to help Ye Qingya drive out the cold. To eradicate the wind-cold in the Lung Meridian, he chose to start from the Taiyuan acupoint, but first from the Shaoshang acupoint, the root of the Lung Meridian, aiming to dispel the wind-cold qi swiftly.
Ye Qingya had wind-cold accumulation in her Hand Lung Meridian, obstructing the yin to yang transition at the Shaoshang acupoint. Xu Chunliang first cleared the cold qi at the Shaoshang acupoint.
The ascending Innate Qi traveled along the Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian, starting at the middle stomach region, descending to the large intestine, looping back through the stomach entrance, piercing the diaphragm, and belonging to the lung. From the lung system, it horizontally exits the armpit through Zhongfu, Yunmen, descends along the inner upper arm, passes the Hand Shaoyin before reaching Tianfu, Xiabai acupoint, then descends towards the elbow passing the Cize acupoint, along the inner forearm radial edge into the Kongzui acupoint, passing Cunkou, entering the Yangxi, Taiyuan, ascends towards the thumb mound, along the mound, exits at the Shaoshang acupoint.
Xu Chunliang’s Innate Qi circulated back and forth within Ye Qingya’s Hand Lung Meridian, sweeping away the wind-cold. His method was akin to using a bull knife to kill a chicken; the wind-cold was instantly swept clean wherever it reached.
For Ye Qingya, this sensation was like bathing in spring breeze. Soon, the evil cold feeling vanished completely, her breathing became increasingly smooth, and unconsciously, the nasal congestion symptoms were relieved — she no longer needed to breathe through her mouth.
Her throat no longer itched, and she no longer coughed.
Before Xu Chunliang treated her grandfather, she did not believe Qi Gong could cure diseases. She even thought Qi Gong was a scam. But seeing Xu Chunliang cure her grandfather’s stubborn illness with her own eyes, her perception began to change.
Now, personally experiencing Xu Chunliang using Qi Gong to treat her, she wholeheartedly believed in the wonders of Qi Gong.
In treating Ye Qingya, Xu Chunliang made a delightful discovery. As the Innate Qi entered Ye Qingya’s meridians, he faintly sensed some Innate Power from within Ye Qingya’s meridians.
In fact, everyone retains some Innate Power within their body; however, this power does not disappear. Instead, it enters a dormant state after birth, or perhaps you just can’t perceive it.
This common Innate Power can perhaps be understood as immunity. Xu Chunliang’s Innate Power awakened Ye Qingya’s own immunity, which, while killing viruses, also began to resist Xu Chunliang’s Innate Power.
Upon realizing the changes in Ye Qingya, Xu Chunliang subtly withdrew his Innate Power. Ye Qingya was sitting cross-legged, and her forehead was covered with sweat.
Ye Qingya opened her eyes, feeling wonderful, as if the cold had completely healed. Xu Chunliang advised her to quickly take a hot bath and change her clothes to prevent catching cold again.
When Ye Qingya emerged after bathing and changing, she smelled the aroma of ginger tea, which Xu Chunliang had prepared during that time.
Xu Chunliang said, "Your cold has just healed; you still need to reinforce your recovery a bit."
Ye Qingya said, "If it weren’t for experiencing it myself, I really wouldn’t have thought that Qi Gong treatment for colds would be so immediate."
XU Chunliang laughed, "You know it, I know it, make sure not to spread the word, otherwise, I’ll be exhausted after treating colds for friends."
Ye Qingya chuckled and took the bowl of ginger tea he offered. After finishing the tea, she suddenly recalled whether Xu Chunliang had a reason for coming over.
Xu Chunliang said, "If you hadn’t asked, I would have almost forgotten." He then explained the disappearance of Monk Tonghui.
Ye Qingya said, "Yesterday when I consulted him on calligraphy, things were perfectly fine. How could he suddenly disappear? Could it be related to yesterday’s lightning strike on the spirit tower?"
Xu Chunliang nodded, "That possibility can’t be ruled out. After the spirit tower was struck by lightning and destroyed, the clay pot inside shattered, and the contents scattered all over. I suspect those items were used by Monk Tonghui back in the day, and perhaps seeing them brought back his memories."
Ye Qingya said, "Who exactly is Master Tonghui?"
Xu Chunliang laughed, "You’re asking me? Who else can I ask? I only know he was found at the bottom of a cliff by the previous abbot of Du Yun Temple. He forgot everything that happened before. Based on his age, he was about thirty when he fell off the cliff. If the items in the pot were his, he must have come from a fairly affluent background."
Ye Qingya said, "Whatever the case, I hope he’s safe and sound."
XU Chunliang pondered that initially, Mo Han brought him to Du Yun Temple. Based on his understanding of Mo Han, this girl wouldn’t perform good deeds for no reason — perhaps Mo Han knows something. Currently, Pu Jian hasn’t informed Mo Han about Tonghui’s disappearance, mainly worried about the unsettled balance, but this matter can’t be kept hidden for long.
While they were discussing Tonghui, the doorbell rang.
Ye Qingya stood up to open the door and checked the visual doorbell screen; it was Wang Jiancheng standing outside.
Ye Qingya opened the door, and Wang Jiancheng smiled, handing her a bouquet of fresh flowers, "Sister Qingya, I passed by your studio, so I came up to take a look and also wanted to ask you for a piece of calligraphy."
Ye Qingya had no choice but to let him in. She had just showered, her hair was still wet, and her pretty face was flushed, as enchanting as a lotus emerging from water.
Wang Jiancheng gazed at the stunning Ye Qingya and felt his heart flutter. However, upon entering the studio, his heart sank instantly because he saw someone else there too.
XU Chunliang was sitting on the sofa, drinking tea. He actually had already heard Wang Jiancheng’s voice, but out of politeness, he stood up to greet him, "President Wang, what a coincidence."
Wang Jiancheng smiled at Xu Chunliang, feeling a bit uncomfortable. This was Ye Qingya’s studio; if he could come, Xu Chunliang naturally could too. However, seeing Ye Qingya clearly having just showered, he purposely refrained from thinking too much about it as the more he thought, the more uncomfortable he felt.
Ye Qingya said, "Jiancheng, please have a seat. Let me pour you a cup of tea. Do you want tea or coffee?"
Wang Jiancheng glanced at the teacup in Xu Chunliang’s hand and decided to ask for coffee: why should he do the same as him?
XU Chunliang behaved like the host, inviting Wang Jiancheng in, "President Wang, sit down, don’t stand on ceremony."
Wang Jiancheng felt frustrated internally: Do I need your invitation? When I started knowing Ye Qingya, who knows where you were? This guy is getting too familiar; this is Ye Qingya’s studio. How can you pose as the host?
Remembering how he first met Xu Chunliang, he became even more irritated. At that time, the elders of the Qiao and Wang families were planning a marriage alliance, hoping to match him with Mei Ru Xue. Although he liked Ye Qingya in his heart, she was already married. He had to suppress such thoughts for the family’s benefit, and Mei Ru Xue wasn’t a bad choice.
He was originally planning to accept it, but then Xu Chunliang suddenly appeared, shattering the families’ matchmaking plans. Wang Jiancheng didn’t hold a grudge against Xu Chunliang for that, as his true love wasn’t Mei Ru Xue; he also disliked marriages driven by political agendas. Xu Chunliang’s relationship with Mei Ru Xue gave him a sense of relief instead.
Not long ago, Qiao Rulong and Ye Qingya divorced. Wang Jiancheng was ecstatic, believing he finally had a chance. But to his surprise, Xu Chunliang and Mei Ru Xue also broke up. Since they were unmarried, breaking up wasn’t a big deal, but Xu Chunliang was also interested in Ye Qingya. Is this guy a professional relationship crasher?
XU Chunliang kept drinking his tea with calm composure.
The aroma of coffee wafted in from the operation room, with Ye Qingya grinding the coffee.
Wang Jiancheng thought back to Ye Qingya’s appearance earlier, conjuring up thoughts: She just showered; when did Xu Chunliang arrive? Could they have showered together? He quietly assessed Xu Chunliang, whose hair was dry, indicating he hadn’t showered. But not showering together didn’t imply they hadn’t done anything else. Wang Jiancheng reminded himself not to let his imagination run wild, lest it spoil his mood. Yet his mind was completely out of control, churning into a tangled mess.
XU Chunliang said, "President Wang, what’s the final decision regarding the China-Korea Industrial Park?"
Wang Jiancheng hesitated for a moment before coming back to reality. He had gone to Dongzhou specifically to discuss the new infectious disease hospital land with Xu Chunliang, but looking back, it was a futile conversation. The issue wasn’t with Xu Chunliang; not even his elder brother supported them.
