Chapter 443 - 416: The Debt Collector
Zhou Yisheng was also filled with resentment. When he first contracted the Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic at Changxing Hospital, he indeed had a good time for a while, but it wasn’t long before he encountered a mass patient rights protection incident.
The ointment scandal was quite significant; it was not only exposed on the internet but also specially reported by Dongzhou TV Station.
Not only was the business affected, but it also impacted the online sales of Renhe Hall, reportedly reducing the online sales of Renhe Hall Ointment by thirty percent compared to before.
Zhou Yi Wu, the head of the East China Region, scolded him harshly and even threatened to revoke his agency rights.
For this matter, Zhou Yisheng specially went to Jizhou to visit Elder Zhou Renhe, and it was Elder Zhou who spared him for the sake of family relations.
Zhou Yisheng learned from multiple sources about the grudges between Renhe Hall and Huichun Hall. He realized that he was set up last time, and it was highly likely that he was made a scapegoat for Renhe Hall.
Although Zhou Yisheng cooperated with Changxing under the banner of Renhe Hall, Renhe Hall did not invest a dime in him. In essence, he was just a franchisee. Who would have thought that Zhao Feiyang would want to clear out contractors and reclaim the management rights of the centers? Zhou Yisheng couldn’t afford the losses, and the compensation from Changxing was simply not enough to cover his losses.
Zhou Yisheng wasn’t a doctor; he was just a businessman with no sense of a healer’s compassion. When he gave gifts to Pei Lin, he left himself some leverage. Whoever cut off his financial road, he would block theirs. He wanted to see who would yield in the end.
Deep down, Zhou Yisheng looked down on people like Zhu Mingyuan, who were imposters and had no real skills. Truly skilled people would have integrity and would never bend for a small amount of money.
Zhou Yisheng also knew that Zhu Mingyuan was not concerned about his stay or go, but whether his personal income would be affected.
"President Zhou, is the hospital really taking back the center’s management rights?"
Zhou Yisheng nodded: "Could it be fake? They say the weather in June is like a child’s face, and you at Changxing change sides faster than flipping a book. I spent a lot to renovate, bring in specialists, and promote the place. Just when things are picking up, you are sweeping me out. Where’s the contractual spirit?"
Zhu Mingyuan actually understood the whole situation very well, but he still held on to a sliver of hope. If Zhou Yisheng really had to leave, he would have to find a new path and do what was necessary.
Zhu Mingyuan lowered his voice: "Isn’t there any room for negotiation?"
"What room for negotiation? The aesthetic center has already pulled out. What can I do? I only have one thought now: if I have to leave, they must compensate me for my losses according to the contract!" At this point, Zhou Yisheng realized he had said too much, knowing that Zhu Mingyuan couldn’t help and unsure of his stance. Perhaps he was just sent by Changxing to test him.
"Indeed, indeed..." Zhu Mingyuan echoed. He wanted to ask something else, but Zhou Yisheng had already signaled for him to leave: "Director Zhu, don’t you have your expert consultation today?"
Zhu Mingyuan paused, feeling a bit embarrassed: "I’m just concerned about you." Actually, he had another purpose for coming—he wanted to clarify the ten-thousand-yuan bonus that Zhou Yisheng promised him before the Spring Festival.
Zhou Yisheng said, "You don’t need to worry about that."
Finally, Zhu Mingyuan raised the issue he was most concerned about: "President Zhou, you know the New Year is coming, about what we discussed before..."
Zhou Yisheng gritted his teeth and smiled at Zhu Mingyuan while simultaneously cursing his ancestors in his heart. What people say about vile gentlemen and widows is indeed true; I’m about to be swept out by Changxing, and you’re still thinking about your bonus. Zhou Yisheng said, "Director Zhu, you have a good memory. I almost forgot if you hadn’t mentioned it."
Zhu Mingyuan chuckled: "President Zhou is just forgetful of many things, so I wanted to remind you."
Zhou Yisheng said, "I’m not some forgetful gentleman, it’s you, Director Zhu, who is a gentleman. I remember two months ago when we went to Tianhai Holiday together; were you satisfied with technician number 16?"
Zhu Mingyuan’s face instantly turned beet red, glaring angrily at Zhou Yisheng.
But he quickly backed down from the confrontation in their eyes. Zhou Yisheng looked at him with disdain: "Director Zhu, what were you trying to remind me of just now?"
Zhu Mingyuan pursed his lips, stood up silently. He knew he could forget about the ten-thousand-yuan bonus from Zhou Yisheng. What worried him more was that his indulgence under the influence had become a tool for Zhou Yisheng’s manipulation. He now fully understood that Zhou Yisheng had deliberately set it up to trap him.
Zhou Yisheng watched Zhu Mingyuan’s retreating figure, gritting his teeth and cursing, "Trash!"
Having dealt with hospital doctors long enough, he was well aware of the rules. Although he wasn’t highly educated, he knew that wealth and power were the keys, and he had been successful with them every time. Zhou Yisheng never invested without ensuring he had evidence; though his methods were not above board, they were effective.
When Zhu Mingyuan left, he was in such a hurry that he almost bumped into someone coming his way.
Realizing it, he quickly stopped and saw that it was Xu Chunliang.
"Sorry..."
Xu Chunliang smiled and said, "Director Zhu, where are you going in such a hurry?"
"Nothing... nothing... you came..."
Seeing the dazed look on Zhu Mingyuan’s face, Xu Chunliang immediately knew he had just suffered a mental blow. He pointed to the office in front: "Is Zhou Yisheng in?"
Zhu Mingyuan’s first reaction was to shake his head. After realizing his mistake, he quickly nodded: "Yes, he’s there!"
Xu Chunliang asked, "Director Zhu, what’s wrong? Not feeling well?"
Zhu Mingyuan quickly shook his head.
Xu Chunliang said, "Then it must be that Zhou Yisheng pissed you off. Does that bastard owe you money?"
Zhu Mingyuan was stunned for a moment. How did he know?
From Zhu Mingyuan’s expression, Xu Chunliang knew he had hit the mark and laughed, "How much? I’ll help you get it."
"It’s nothing!" Zhu Mingyuan didn’t dare to bring up the dividend issue anymore.
Xu Chunliang said, "What are you afraid of him for? How much? I’ll get it back for you, just give me thirty percent."
Zhu Mingyuan said, "Stop guessing, there’s nothing like that." He wanted to leave quickly, but Xu Chunliang blocked his way: "Did he catch something on you? Is he threatening you?"
Zhu Mingyuan was on edge. This guy was so cunning, he seemed to guess everything. Could he foresee the future? Zhu Mingyuan felt as if he’d seen a ghost in broad daylight: "Sorry, I have a consultation, a patient is waiting for me."
Xu Chunliang shouted at his back, "Director Zhu, thirty percent!"
Zhou Yisheng heard a knock on the door and said impatiently, "Who is it?"
Xu Chunliang pushed the door open and walked in. Seeing it was him, Zhou Yisheng quickly stood up, not out of respect, but a bit of fear.
Xu Chunliang closed the door behind him and then locked it.
Zhou Yisheng said, "Why are you locking the door?"
Xu Chunliang replied, "Just want to talk about something."
Zhou Yisheng pointed to the camera in the corner: "Don’t do anything stupid, I have surveillance..."
Xu Chunliang picked up the white coat from the hanger and covered the camera with a wave of his hands.
Zhou Yisheng regretted, why did I have to be so loose-lipped? Why tell him this? He wasn’t slow to react either, as Xu Chunliang went to cover the camera, he quickly ran for the door, but before he could make it, Xu Chunliang grabbed his neck like a tortoise, pinning him down.
Zhou Yisheng felt weak all over; forget walking, he couldn’t even speak.
Xu Chunliang said, "Why are you running? In broad daylight, what could I possibly do to you?"
Dragging him to the sofa like a chick, Xu Chunliang let go, and Zhou Yisheng finally regained control of his body, gasping heavily: "Xu Chunliang, don’t do anything stupid, I’ll call the police."
Xu Chunliang said, "Do you know why I’m here to see you?"
Zhou Yisheng shook his head. From the moment he entered, Xu Chunliang had locked the door, covered the camera, grabbed him by the neck; every action was aggressive and intimidating, making Zhou Yisheng seriously worry about his safety.
Xu Chunliang said, "How much do you owe Zhu Mingyuan?"
Zhou Yisheng was bewildered. Was Xu Chunliang helping Zhu Mingyuan collect a debt? It didn’t make sense. As far as he knew, Zhu Mingyuan didn’t get along well with Xu Chunliang, who was quite close with Zheng Peian, and Zhu Mingyuan didn’t like them at all. Xu Chunliang had no reason to stand up for Zhu Mingyuan.
Xu Chunliang said, "Speak!"
Zhou Yisheng said, "I don’t owe him anything!"
Xu Chunliang pulled a knife from his pocket.
Zhou Yisheng was scared out of his wits, this guy brought a knife. He opened his mouth to call for help, but Xu Chunliang sealed his mute acupoint with a finger. When Zhou Yisheng tried to struggle, Xu Chunliang grabbed his neck again, leaving him weak and powerless, as the sharp blade slowly approached his eye.
Xu Chunliang sneered, "You’re too despicable, blackmailing people, taking advantage of them. The best way to deal with people like you is to silence them."
Zhou Yisheng felt the tip of the knife touch his eyelashes, his mouth moving as if saying no.
Xu Chunliang raised the knife and stabbed toward Zhou Yisheng’s chest. As Zhou Yisheng looked down, he saw the knife already embedded in his chest, scaring him out of his wits. In that moment, he was filled with despair, thinking it was the end for him! A warm stream gushed out from his crotch as he involuntarily wet himself in fear.
Xu Chunliang frowned, a bit disgusted: "Coward, peeing yourself from fear." He raised his hand, reversed the knife, and stabbed himself with it. It turned out to be a retractable spring knife; the blade retracted instantly upon hitting something hard.
Zhou Yisheng never imagined this guy had so many tricks. Just now, the stab to the chestbone had hurt so much, he thought Xu Chunliang really stabbed into his chest. Looking down again, his chest was perfectly fine, not even a drop of blood, confirming he wasn’t injured after all.
The second update will be in the afternoon, just for clarification.
