Chapter 407: I Really Didn’t Kill Anyone
In the fitness club, Su Xiaogang was arranging business.
"Your performance last night wasn’t very good, the client complained."
The girl next to Su Xiaogang was doing stretching exercises. She was petite, with fair skin, but not at all skinny where it mattered. Her eyes were alluring and captivating.
"Brother Su, what do you mean by ’not very good’? I was already working very hard last night, it’s not my fault the client couldn’t keep up, is it?"
"Nonsense!"
Su Xiaogang pinched the girl’s cheek: "What the client asked for was a pure college student!"
"You did wear a sailor uniform and showed him a student ID, but during the act, were you a pure student?"
"There was rocking and licking, what kind of college student behaves so scandalously like you?"
"Pure!"
"Do you know about playing hard to get?"
"You can’t be too forward!"
The girl pouted: "You really can’t blame me. I was holding back at the start, but... the tip he gave was too much, I... couldn’t justify not putting in effort."
"Get lost, stop with the excuses. You’re getting a 500 deduction for the complaint!"
Su Xiaogang felt it wasn’t easy for him, he spent half an hour explaining to the client yesterday.
Saying that the college student had a few boyfriends during school, but purity was no issue.
He ended up not even believing his own made-up story.
"Brother Su..." The girl clearly didn’t want to lose five hundred just like that: "You’re deducting so much, wasn’t I working hard yesterday?"
"Stop with the nonsense, a complaint is a..."
"Are you Su Xiaogang?"
Su Xiaogang turned around to see Zhang Hui and Ren Qiang: "You are..."
They shouldn’t be his clients, he had no impression of them, could they be referred by someone else?
"Which friend introduced you?"
Zhang Hui paused for a moment as he pulled out his credentials, changing his initial approach: "Can we talk somewhere private?"
"Sure, Boss, this way please. There’s a small break room over there, let’s chat inside. As you can see here..."
Su Xiaogang gestured widely, several beautiful women in yoga pants and tight sports tops were exercising in the distance.
"I can set you up with anyone."
Five minutes later.
"Please have a seat, which one interests you?"
Not interested in the slightest.
Zhang Hui snapped handcuffs onto Su Xiaogang’s hands: "Still pretending?"
"It’s about Zhang Xiaofeng, you’re busted!"
Standing at six feet tall, Su Xiaogang immediately fell to his knees: "Officer... sir?"
Half an hour later, the interrogation room.
"What did you say?"
"President Zhang... is dead?"
"You... don’t suspect I did it, do you?"
"Officer, I’m innocent! Really, I didn’t kill anyone!"
Across from him, Zhang Hui was in charge of the interrogation, with Qin Yong, Ren Qiang, and others listening in from the next room.
"You didn’t kill anyone?"
Zhang Hui took out a screenshot: "This is from the surveillance footage of yesterday afternoon, showing Zhang Xiaofeng leaving the Jungar Hotel. This silver-gray car... isn’t it yours?"
"It... it is mine."
"Didn’t Zhang Xiaofeng get into your car?"
"He... he did."
"From the time Zhang Xiaofeng left the Jungar Hotel until he was killed, you were the last person to see him, and you say you didn’t kill him? Who would believe that?"
"I... I really didn’t kill anyone!"
Su Xiaogang was nearly in tears, he was merely a fixer, what the hell was this about murder?
"Yes, yes, I have a witness, a witness who can prove I didn’t commit murder!"
"A witness? Who is it? You claim you didn’t kill anyone, then why did you meet with Zhang Xiaofeng yesterday?"
"President Zhang is my client, I picked him up yesterday... for business."
Half an hour later, Su Xiaogang had confessed everything.
It turned out that Zhang Xiaofeng had left a lunch meeting because Su Xiaogang had found a girl that Zhang had specifically requested.
"He likes tall girls, six feet tall, with a postgraduate education. I finally found one yesterday, and she had a free spot at noon because her boyfriend wasn’t around, so I immediately contacted President Zhang... Zhang Xiaofeng."
"So you picked him up... it was to go to a hotel?"
"Yes, the woman was also at Platinum Fitness. I got them settled at a nearby hotel and then I left."
"After that, I never saw Zhang Xiaofeng again. The girl can vouch for me!"
"What’s the girl’s name?"
"Wang Qianqian."
"Where does she live?"
"I don’t know, but I have her phone number. You can contact her."
Next door.
"Old Liu, how did the footprint comparison with Lu Chuan go?"
Although Su Xiaogang is a suspect, convicting him will depend on the evidence.
After his arrest, Lu Chuan collected his footprint and compared it with those found at the crime scene.
"Nothing, Lu Chuan just completed the comparison. Although Su Xiaogang and the suspect have a similar build, his footprints definitely did not match those found at the scene."
Qin Yong nodded: "So he’s really not the killer?"
"He’s not."
The person they initially thought was the most likely culprit has now been ruled out.
Luckily, the trail hasn’t gone cold yet.
If Su Xiaogang wasn’t the last person to see Zhang Xiaofeng, then Wang Qianqian should be.
Although Wang Qianqian is also a gold member of the Palman Fitness Clubhouse, she isn’t there every day.
She’s a postgraduate student at Haizhou Science and Technology University, currently in her first year.
Zhang Hui found information about her through the university.
"Wang Qianqian doesn’t live on campus during her postgraduate studies but rents an apartment off-campus with her boyfriend."
Zhang Hui handed two photos to Ren Qiang: "This girl is Wang Qianqian, and the guy is her boyfriend."
In the photos, Wang Qianqian looked sweet and lovely, with fair skin, and was exceptionally beautiful.
"Have you contacted her?"
Zhang Hui looked at the time: "We’ll have to wait until tomorrow morning. These details were urgently pulled from the university’s duty office."
"We’ll have to visit the university tomorrow to get more specifics."
Ren Qiang nodded. It was impressive that Zhang Hui managed to gather all this information in the middle of the night; contacting them would indeed have to wait until tomorrow.
The interrogation of Su Xiaogang wrapped up after 1 a.m., and they settled in for a night at the barracks since going home was out of the question.
As for Su Xiaogang’s case, since it involved quite a few people, it was later turned over to the local police station—a significant case primarily due to the large amounts of money involved, even if the frequency was low but with high individual transactions.
A client could spend as little as three thousand, but often as much as ten thousand or more.
"Brother Qiang, why are the ones at a fitness club more expensive than those at a KTV?"
Outside, the most expensive at a KTV would be a thousand bucks, most are eight hundred, and there are some even for five hundred or as low as three hundred.
But once you’re in the fitness club, introduced by Su Xiaogang, the minimum was three thousand, usually five thousand, eight thousand, or even ten thousand.
Why is that?
