Chapter 718: Circular Corridor
After the elevator doors closed, it began moving downward. Lin Ye didn't find any buttons inside the elevator aside from the door close button, nor did he find any instructions. The entire elevator was like a sealed metal box.
The elevator descended rapidly, continuing for twenty minutes before it started to slow down.
Lin Ye aimed his rifle at the elevator doors, uncertain where this elevator would take him.
Once the elevator stopped and the doors opened automatically, Lin Ye stayed pressed against one side of the doors. But this time, there was no armed squad lying in wait to ambush him outside.
Lin Ye stepped out of the elevator. Outside was a circular corridor. The inner ring of the corridor had some metal doors, while the outer ring featured transparent walls similar to those in an aquarium.
But this wasn't an aquarium—it was the depths of the ocean. Beyond the walls was pitch-black seawater, and the corridor was lit by white lights strong enough to illuminate the nearby waters.
Lin Ye tried to close the elevator doors and go back up to the elevator lobby, but the door close button only seemed to operate the doors. There was nothing near the elevator to control it, and he couldn't even find a single piece of clutter around.
The transparent walls of the outer ring reminded Lin Ye of his experience at an aquarium before. Now he could only leave the elevator and start examining the situation in the corridor.
Lin Ye walked a full circuit around the corridor. He didn't see anything other than seawater beyond the walls, nor did he encounter any dangerous threats. He returned to the elevator without any trouble.
