Chapter 486: Giant patchwork doll
Lin Ye jumped up and used the key to open the door. Beyond it was an even larger room, filled with all kinds of grotesque dolls.
These dolls were clearly different from the ones in the first room; they looked more twisted and sinister, and the vast majority were half-finished, only partly sewn together.
"Do we really have to go in there?"
Damon took two steps back. He felt that what was inside had already gone beyond the scope of mere dolls.
"You can stay here if you want, but I can’t guarantee your safety... of course, going in is dangerous too."
Lin Ye entered the room, the Doll following behind him.
After Lin Ye left, the surrounding dolls turned their attention to Damon and the others and began to stir.
"Uh, I suddenly think those dolls ahead looked kind of cute."
Damon tugged at the barely sewn-together Mu Kai and hurried to catch up with Lin Ye. Kalin hastily followed behind Damon.
After Lin Ye and the others entered, the strange dolls around them suddenly started trembling violently. They revealed expressions of pain as pitch-black tendrils crawled out from their bodies, lifting them up and shaking their forms. The dolls were quickly torn apart by the tendrils inside them. A swarm of tendril monsters crawled out and lunged at Lin Ye and the others.
Lin Ye had to admit, these tendril monsters really fought for it — even after turning into dolls, they still displayed that distinct tendril-monster vibe.
Before the tendril monsters could close in, Lin Ye slit them open with the kitchen knife. Fabric and innards flew everywhere, and soon he had taken care of all the approaching tendril monsters.
Seeing Lin Ye fight so fiercely, Damon followed suit and helped take down a few tendril monsters. They only looked terrifying; their actual strength was average.
But Lin Ye didn’t think these tendril monsters were just suicidal. Whatever role they played in the ritual, they definitely had a purpose.
Lin Ye began checking his doll body and quickly noticed strips of black fabric had appeared on him. Those black pieces were mixed into his original cloth; at a glance, his body was covered in short black threads.
It wasn’t just Lin Ye—others also had these black threads, including the Doll.
Lin Ye used the kitchen knife to pick at one of the black threads; one end had already penetrated into his body.
He tried to pull the thread out, but searing pain stopped him. The pain didn’t feel like something a doll should experience.
Mu Kai, lying on the ground, had already started to become twisted and grotesque. Thinking of the state of the dolls in the previous room, Lin Ye guessed these black threads were offspring of those tendril monsters.
If they didn’t deal with the threads quickly, they would soon be torn apart like those dolls.
Enduring the pain, Lin Ye tried to forcibly pull out the thread, but he only extracted a small outer section; a long piece broke off and remained inside his body.
After removing that outer segment, Lin Ye lost feeling in that area.
The Doll walked over to Lin Ye and handed him another key. There was a door on the room’s wall.
Lin Ye could only open that door. He was no longer the Lin Ye who could solve most problems—he was a doll made from D-Class personnel Marty.
Only after killing the first tendril monster did he realize something was wrong with them. He couldn’t even tell when those black threads had crept into his body.
Beyond the door was an even larger chamber, so vast its edges couldn’t be seen. A giant spliced doll, pieced together from numerous human parts, lay across the center of the room. Behind it towered a massive Parasitic Gate.
After entering, tendrils sprouted from Lin Ye and the others' bodies, and the giant spliced doll grew tendrils from the areas facing them. The tendrils on both sides approached and naturally connected together.
But a single kitchen knife suddenly severed the connection. Lin Ye knew everything was sealed — even he could not change the outcome. That did not mean he should stop fighting.
Clutching the kitchen knife, Lin Ye charged the giant spliced doll, but before he could react, tendrils pierced his body.
Those tendrils came from within him; this was an attack he could not resist.
Before being torn to pieces by the tendrils, Lin Ye hurled the kitchen knife at the giant spliced doll.

Lin Ye returned to the cell once more.
This time he hadn’t even begun his ritual before the second ritual sent him away.
'This is too lame. I can’t become a doll; otherwise there’s no way to fight that giant spliced doll, let alone the massive Parasitic Gate behind it.'
Lin Ye quickly figured out why he failed. He shouldn’t have entered the enemy’s territory to fight them — that put him at too great a disadvantage.
'That’s easy to fix, but how do I deal with that giant spliced doll? I can’t be engaging it in close combat...'
Lin Ye pondered this question until he was taken to the Lounge.
Once inside the Lounge, Lin Ye repeated the previous actions until he resolved the Silhouette and selected the enhancement direction for the kitchen knife.
This time Lin Ye chose the attack option.
When Lin Ye swung the kitchen knife, an invisible blade severed the Silhouette’s corpse.
After choosing the attack option, swinging the kitchen knife produced an invisible blade attack. Using this attack consumed very little of Lin Ye’s stamina and had a very short cooldown, but its downside was that its power was average.
Lin Ye returned to the Lounge with the kitchen knife and the others. The door closed, and Mu Kai lifted the black cloth again.
The items on the cart were still that Doll. Lin Ye picked it up and opened the door.
The dolls in the room turned their gaze to Lin Ye. He swung the kitchen knife and an invisible blade struck the wall.
"If you don’t want to die, give her the key. I’ll give you three seconds to decide, 3, 2, 1..."
Lin Ye placed the Doll in front of him. Just as he was about to swing the knife, a humanoid doll walked over and handed the key to the Doll.
"You go open the door. Leave the rest to me."
Lin Ye said to the Doll.
The Doll took the key and walked to the door. It stood on tiptoe but still couldn’t reach the keyhole.
Kalin stepped forward, lifted the Doll, and the Doll finally opened the door.
Lin Ye went to the doorway and swung the kitchen knife directly at those twisted, incomplete dolls inside. Perhaps because this time they didn’t transform into dolls, no tendril monsters burst out of them.
The invisible blade from the kitchen knife quickly cleared the room, and the Doll found the door key among the pile of doll remains.
