Chapter 419: Infinite Block
"This is underneath that area? Why don't I see any abnormal creatures?"
Andrew was the first to land on the ground. This place seemed like a normal world, except there was no sun in the sky. Instead, it was replaced by a blinding white light with no discernible source.
They had fallen here from a crack in mid-air, and that crack had already disappeared.
Nearby were streets that looked perfectly normal, lined with tall buildings of various architectural styles. These mismatched buildings connected together, making this entire block appear somewhat strange.
"When we came out just now, I sensed a faint trace of spatial fluctuations. This might not be directly underneath that area, but rather some corner of the 'trash heap'."
Lin Ye focused his mind, carefully perceiving his surroundings. If this was a fixed garbage disposal area, there might be some kind of risk lurking nearby.
"According to your speculation, shouldn't this place be packed full of all sorts of trash? Why do I feel it's quite clean here?"
Andrew was also cautiously sensing the area around them.
"What, did you want to land in the middle of a crowd of abnormal things? Abnormal entities and ordinary things are fundamentally different. And they've probably all gone up above. After all, nobody wants to stay inside a trash can."
Lin Ye walked onto the sidewalk beside the road. Through the transparent glass of the buildings, they could see what was inside. Here, spiritual perception was affected by the building materials, sometimes making it less effective than plain sight. Furthermore, the spiritual energy concentration in the environment was average, a far cry from the levels above.
"What do we do now? How do we get out of here?"
Andrew followed Lin Ye as he approached a nearby building. The block was extremely quiet;
there didn't seem to be a single living creature here.
"Who knows, this is my first time here too... Don't worry. As long as we can find those abnormal creatures, we can locate the exit."
Lin Ye used the Abyssal Eye to observe the surroundings. Nearby, he could see some phantoms of Abyssal creatures. There was no network of tumor-like structures in the sky;
it seemed to be just a very ordinary expanse.
"Better be. I really don't want to be trapped in a place like this."
Andrew suddenly looked towards a building across the street. A human silhouette flashed past on the third floor.
"Don't go. That seems to be a mannequin."
The eyeballs altered by Lin Ye's Alienation could not only clearly see the fleeting silhouette but even had a brief scene replay function.
"A moving mannequin should still be able to provide some information."
Although he said that, Andrew still stopped in his tracks.
"There's nothing more foolish than trying to get information from a mannequin."
Lin Ye continued walking forward. Silhouettes flashed by inside the surrounding buildings from time to time, seemingly trying to lure the two of them inside.
"...Is something controlling them to attract us inside?"
Andrew carefully observed those silhouettes. He wasn't planning to enter the buildings, but he hadn't given up on the idea of catching a mannequin to get information.
"Hard to say. Maybe this place is just like that. Before we get the necessary information, it's best not to jump to conclusions."
Lin Ye stepped on spiritual energy, leaping into the air. He didn't approach the surrounding buildings, instead keeping his body directly above the road.
Stopping at a high point, Lin Ye discovered that similar blocks stretched in all directions here, with no end in sight.
"What now? We can't just keep walking forward, can we? Should we go up for a look?"
Andrew stopped beside Lin Ye. He created a spiritual energy platform to stand on temporarily.
"The spiritual energy concentration here is average. It's best not to consume too much spiritual energy."
Lin Ye landed back on the sidewalk. He constructed the structure of the nearby block in his mind, trying to find some pattern within it. But he quickly discovered the streets here were extremely chaotic, as if they hadn't been designed at all, just placed there very haphazardly.
'Does this have some special meaning?'
Lin Ye thought seriously for a while. He kept transforming the shapes of the buildings in his mind. When he transformed the buildings into simple line segments, he suddenly noticed a certain segment of the structure looked vaguely familiar.
'Huh? I think I've seen this segment of structure before, but I don't have a clear impression of it in my mind. This means this segment isn't important, and it appeared recently...'
Lin Ye abruptly turned his head to look at the building across the street. The first silhouette that had appeared earlier passed by there. The corridor that silhouette passed through, combined with another corridor in the neighboring building, looked somewhat similar to a certain segment of the block structure.

"What's wrong with you? Are you being affected by an abnormal creature?"
Andrew interrupted Lin Ye's train of thought, looking at him with concern.
"I'm thinking of a way to leave. We can't just keep walking forward like this... can we?"
Lin Ye suddenly had an idea. Maybe he didn't need to consider such complicated things. Maybe he just needed to try walking forward...
"Follow me. No nonsense."
Lin Ye walked towards a building at the edge of the street. He didn't stop even when he reached the wall.
'It shouldn't be this simple, right...'
Lin Ye stepped onto the wall. The entire world began to flip and reconstruct. The building beneath his feet became the ground, and a new road appeared before him.
"...How did you discover that? Can all you researchers do this kind of thing?"
Andrew walked behind Lin Ye, looking at the complex spatial structure around them in astonishment.
"I'm not your average researcher."
Lin Ye began to move forward. The structure of the entire space became exceptionally chaotic, but for him, this was much easier than leaving a block with no end.
"True. If all researchers had your level, the world might have been destroyed long ago."
Andrew couldn't help but sigh. It wasn't that he disliked talking;
he disliked talking with the weak.
He believed communicating with the weak was a waste of time.
So unless necessary, he wouldn't speak casually.
"No, the world would be much more interesting that way."
Lin Ye memorized and analyzed the structure of the entire space. This wasn't normal space, but a special space with an abnormally complex structure. If you didn't find the correct path, you could walk in the block forever and never get out.
Additionally, entering the interior of the buildings was an extremely dangerous thing, because these buildings were constantly moving spatial units. Lin Ye also didn't know what would happen once you went inside.
"Haven't we walked past here once before?"
Andrew suddenly asked.
"No, that time the building on the left was vertical. The other directions are indeed the same... Just follow me, and try not to think about unnecessary things."
