Chapter 415: Parasite Cards
"...So that's how it is, no wonder those anomalous creatures all came rushing out at once."
Lin Ye suddenly understood. After the old man's reminder, he finally pieced together all the elements that led to that future.
"What have you thought of?"
Ms. Carnot asked.
"I have a hypothesis, but I'm not sure if it's correct.
If we think of the Bottomless Pit as a very deep trash can, don't you think that area is like the trash can's lid? The reason that area rises might be because the garbage inside is surging up, and the targeted preparations you're planning to make are essentially breaking this lid, so all those things come flooding out. That's the cause of that future."
Lin Ye hadn't expected the destruction of Free City to be related to himself. However, when he provided the biological sample, no Time Mark was generated. This indicated that even if he hadn't provided the biological sample, it wouldn't have stopped these people from destroying Free City.
"So you mean we should just do nothing? Or should we try to hold down that lid?"
Liam spoke up and asked.
"That won't work. That lid will eventually be pushed out of the Bottomless Pit sooner or later. When that happens, the anomalous creatures inside will still escape. Besides, Free City isn't just us. What if those Salvation Cult cultists want to 'redeem' the entire world? They are experts at that sort of thing." Oliver spoke seriously.
"Then what should we do? The combat squads we sent out before couldn't even briefly block the anomalous creatures inside. Even if we muster the full strength of Free City, we still can't stop those creatures, and there will be people dragging us down."
Raymond took out a metal flask from the inner pocket of his coat and added a bit of clear liquid to his chilled drink.
"Perhaps we could create a breach in the lid, then deal with the anomalous creatures that come out one by one."
Ms. Carnot proposed a solution.
"Easier said than done. That area itself is extremely dangerous, and its structure is very complex. How can you be sure that creating a breach won't cause the entire area to collapse?"
Oliver had clearly studied the situation of that area in detail.
"Lin Ye, do you have any good ideas?"
Raymond had no leads and could only turn to Lin Ye for help.
"I have a plan. This plan might solve the problem, but I need your assistance."
Lin Ye decided to present the Bottomless Pit Cleanup Plan.
As for the backup World of Ashes Shelter Plan ver.2.0, Lin Ye planned to advance it covertly with the help of the Bottomless Pit Cleanup Plan.
"Oh? Let's hear it. If it can solve the problem, Carnot Heavy Industries can fully support your plan."
Ms. Carnot spoke up.
"If we can pass through that area, we can directly deal with the anomalous creatures below. The corpses of those anomalous creatures are extremely valuable resources. As long as the profit is high enough, dealing with anomalous creatures isn't a bad thing. The major companies won't pass up this opportunity."
This was Lin Ye's Bottomless Pit Cleanup Plan.
The plan was very simple. He wouldn't even need to lift a finger;
these major powers would take the initiative to clean up the Bottomless Pit.
"You're right, but the key is how to pass through that area. Do you have a method?"
Raymond swirled his glass and asked.
"Remember the Parasite Detection Card? I have some understanding of Parasitism knowledge. I plan to research a Parasitic Card. Using this card, one can fuse with a controllable biological sample, then utilize the sample's properties to pass through that area."
Lin Ye wasn't entirely sure if he could succeed, but he had a fair degree of confidence.
"This is just a concept. Are you sure you can actually develop this card?"
Oliver asked.
"Pretty much. But I need you to provide research materials and necessary knowledge. Also, my tier is a bit low. You probably have Seventh-tier enhancement serums, right? No need to consider mental energy;
just something that can strengthen the body is fine."
Lin Ye felt getting an injection was more convenient.
"These are not problems. How long do you need to produce results? Our time is limited. And even if we can enter and exit that area freely, whether we can actually go down is another matter."
Liam didn't care at all about the conditions Lin Ye proposed. He was more concerned about those anomalous creatures in the Bottomless Pit.
Lin Ye was right;
the corpses of those anomalous creatures were very valuable, especially to him.
"One week. I only need one week to produce the first version of the Parasitic Card. If I can't do it, I will personally enter the Bottomless Pit to find a solution."
Lin Ye didn't need that much time at all, but his World of Ashes Shelter Plan ver.2.0 did.
"Three days. I want preliminary results in three days. Don't worry about resources;
we will provide you with ample resources."
Ms. Carnot directly cut the time by more than half.
"Give me the list of knowledge you need. I will send you the relevant knowledge. You'd better not disappoint us."
Oliver also joined the Bottomless Pit Cleanup Plan.
"My side can provide raw materials of various properties. As long as you can describe the material's properties, the merchant guilds can help you find the corresponding material."
Liam said with a smile.
"The association can provide adventurers to test the Parasitic Card. As long as there are enough Free Coins, there's no mission adventurers wouldn't dare to take."
Raymond raised his glass and downed the liquid inside.
"Then three days it is. But starting from tomorrow. Tonight, I want to celebrate the apocalypse with Raymond."
Lin Ye also raised his glass and finished his drink.
"We also need to make some preparations in advance. You'd better send me the material list as soon as possible."
Ms. Carnot was the first to stand up and leave the reception room. Oliver and Liam followed behind her, exiting the room one after another.
Lin Ye took only ten minutes to compile the first list of supplies and knowledge. More than half of it consisted of items that seemed useful but were actually unrelated private additions to the Parasitic Card.
Creating the Parasitic Card wasn't difficult for him. He only needed to adjust some details;
he could produce a finished product tonight. The troublesome part was the biological sample to serve as the parasite.
A controllable biological sample that could also serve as an admission ticket wasn't something just anyone could produce.
Lin Ye had been to that area and had some degree of contact with all three anomalous creatures. Afterwards, he studied the usage method of the biological sample through Sera. Without these prerequisites, he wouldn't have the confidence to produce a finished product within three days either.
After sending the list to Carnot Heavy Industries and Oliver, Lin Ye took the books and left the library's third floor. By then, Raymond had already started a party on the library's first floor.
Lin Ye found a corner on the first floor to continue reading. He planned to take the opportunity to read a few more books unrelated to the Parasitic Card.
The attendant placed drinks beside Lin Ye. The guests invited by Raymond didn't disturb Lin Ye. These people didn't even know what they were celebrating. Lin Ye quite liked this peculiar atmosphere.
