Chapter 406: High-level psionicist
Early the next morning, Lin Ye drove to complete the information and biological sample transactions with the three major factions.
The transaction process went smoothly without any issues. One hundred million Free Coins was no small sum, but for these three factions, it was just a drop in the bucket.
Of course, this was also because Lin Ye was strong enough. Otherwise, those factions wouldn't have minded doing a bit of business with zero capital investment—Bio-Tech had been thinking exactly that.
Ms. Carnot even gifted Lin Ye a ring-type spatial item, which contained a space of a full five cubic meters.
On the way back, Lin Ye purchased a large amount of spiritual energy materials and a batch of enhancement injections, including a sixth-tier enhancement injection he intended to use himself.
As for enhancement injections above the sixth tier, he would have to go to Bio-Tech for customization. High-tier enhancement injections couldn't be mass-produced;
they could only be formulated according to each individual's physical condition.
Lin Ye definitely didn't dare go to Bio-Tech to order custom enhancement injections. That place was the lair of cultists and parasite researchers. If they closed the doors on him, he might not be able to escape even if he fought for his life.
At best, it would end in mutual destruction.
Returning to the abandoned clubhouse with the materials filling the spatial ring, Lin Ye first injected himself with a sixth-tier enhancement injection. After spending four hours adjusting the mutation organs within his body, he then began administering enhancement injections to those young people.
Black Dog and the others were now third-tier spiritual energy users. Lin Ye sent them the knowledge related to spiritual energy cores. It was better to synthesize one's own spiritual energy core;
Lin Ye could only provide a little assistance. "Boss, can't you really help me synthesize a spiritual energy core? I'm having a bit of trouble understanding this knowledge..."
Black Dog looked at the complex data, filled with various formulas and terminology, with a pained expression. It was giving him a splitting headache.
"Actually, you can advance just by directly injecting spiritual energy injections. But those mid-level spiritual energy users... I could wipe out a whole bunch of them with a single thought back when I was second-tier. Are you sure you want to become that kind of trash?"
Lin Ye picked up a fourth-tier injection, about to unwrap the packaging.
"No, I'll try a bit harder."
Black Dog hastily took several steps back, afraid Lin Ye would jab him with it.
"Actually, that wouldn't be so bad. When someone kills you, you might not even know you're dead. That's a pretty good way to go."
Lin Ye said with a smile.
"I was wrong, Boss."
Black Dog looked at the materials with extreme seriousness, declining Lin Ye's kind offer.
"Well, do your best."
Lin Ye then made some more rune templates. This time, he even produced some mid-tier rune templates. The spiritual energy cards printed from these templates couldn't be sold so cheaply anymore.
He planned to chat with his friends later;
those major factions should be interested in this batch of spiritual energy cards.
After handling the miscellaneous tasks, Lin Ye ate something and then began using the spiritual energy materials to reinforce the base. Free City might seem safe, but the Bottomless Pit was right next door, and it could spew out some strange things at any moment.
Establishing a stable base wasn't something that could be completed in a short time. Lin Ye intended to treat base reinforcement as a daily task, doing a little bit every day.
After completing part of the base reinforcement, Lin Ye drove to the hotel and the library. He needed to return the books he had finished reading and borrow a few new ones.
The library was still mostly empty. Lin Ye borrowed the books before the library closed, preparing to go back and read.
Because these books involved high-tier knowledge, they were expensive.
Lin Ye had just gotten into his car when he received a communication request from Raymond.
"You're borrowing books from the library?"
Raymond looked at Lin Ye with surprise. He hadn't expected a powerhouse like Lin Ye to be so studious.
"Yeah, what's up? I don't drink."
Through the virtual image, Lin Ye saw Raymond drinking at a bar.
"Not asking you to drink. I just received word that new Pit Products have spewed out from the pit. And judging by the scale of the Contaminated Zone, this is an extremely rare high-tier Contaminated Zone. The Five Great Companies have already sent people over, and the Adventurer's Association has dispatched a team too. Do you want to go check out the commotion?"
Having obtained information about the area at the 2,475-meter depth of the Bottomless Pit, Raymond felt this eruption wasn't simple. He wanted Lin Ye to go take a look, after all, Lin Ye was the second survivor to escape from there.
"No, I'm going back to the clubhouse to read. Of course, if it's a commission, I can go take a look."
Lin Ye had absolutely no desire to get involved in the messy business concerning the Bottomless Pit. He'd much rather return to the clubhouse, read books, sip cold drinks, and have a midnight snack.
"Forget it then. A commission would need to go through the association for reimbursement. There's no reason to issue a commission in the current situation. Do you want to come drink? I called a few young ladies over for drinks. You can come help me handle a few of them."
Raymond definitely didn't want to spend his own money hiring Lin Ye. Too expensive.
"Better not. I'll just go back and read."
Lin Ye had no desire at all to go mess around at a bar.
On the way back, Lin Ye stopped by the hotel restaurant to pack up some dishes. Wendy was newly learning cooking skills;
there was plenty of room for improvement.
Back at the clubhouse, Lin Ye had dinner with Maggie and the others, explained some more techniques about constructing spiritual energy cores, then went to the large bathhouse for a soak. After that, he took the borrowed books back to his room.
Thanks to the efforts of those young people, the money-making plan was steadily progressing. Facts proved that selling cards in Free City was far more lucrative than risking one's life in the Bottomless Pit.
Maggie and the others had all become third-tier spiritual energy users, but the difficulty of constructing their spiritual energy cores varied among the four of them.
Black Dog's progress was the slowest. He was actually a smart person, especially regarding violence and organizational development. He could handle many things without Lin Ye having to explain much.
But his foundation was too poor. At first, he couldn't even recognize all the characters. And compared to theoretical knowledge, he preferred hands-on practice.
The remaining three had it much easier, especially Maggie. She had the talent to become a spiritual energy user;
even without Lin Ye's help, she could have become one on her own.
Little Ke and Wendy were both above-average among normal people, but Little Ke preferred helping Lin Ye manage the organization, while Wendy was the type of normal person who worked extremely hard.
She earnestly learned everything she needed to do, including killing and cooking.
Lying in bed, Lin Ye researched issues related to advancement. He hadn't studied how to become a high-level spiritual energy user before and didn't know what conditions were required for advancement.
Those high-level spiritual energy users he had killed were only stronger than him in terms of physical fitness;
they didn't seem to have anything particularly special.
Through reading the books, Lin Ye quickly understood the difference between mid-level spiritual energy users and high-level spiritual energy users: whether one had completed spiritual sublimation.
'...Does connecting to a divine seat count as spiritual sublimation? So am I a high-level spiritual energy user?'
Lin Ye wasn't very sure about his own state.
