Chapter 288: Giant Corpse
Lin Ye was targeting those eyeballs, and the others were doing much the same, but those eyeballs could move beneath the epidermis and also deploy spiritual energy shields nearby.
The eyeballs all turned their gazes toward the surrounding creatures. Lin Ye controlled the nearby little dogs to block the glances directed at him, then manipulated compressed spiritual energy blades to stab into the backs of those eyeballs.
The eyeballs' spiritual energy shields were quite strong, but they couldn't withstand instantaneous high-energy piercing.
All the eyeballs looking at Lin Ye were instantly punctured and exploded, but the little dogs that had been gazed upon by the eyeballs suddenly grew numerous eyeballs inside their bodies. Those eyeballs burst out of the little dogs, transforming them into numerous meat chunks covered with eyeballs.
The eyeballs moved within the meat chunks, trying to head toward Lin Ye's location, but the surrounding meat chunks blocked their path.
These meat chunks, pieced together by Lin Ye from the little dogs, remained under his control.
Priest Ethan easily alienated the eyeballs that were looking at him.
Xia La hid beneath a silver-white long cloak. Some eyeballs appeared on the cloak's surface, but they were quickly absorbed by the garment.
Richard was continuously using a small knife to dig out the eyeballs growing inside his body. His movements were swift, with several eyeballs staring at him, but the growth rate of the eyeballs couldn't keep up with his digging speed.
Lin Ye and Ethan respectively cleared the eyeballs that were watching them. Lin Ye created several little dogs containing active eyeballs, then collected some eyeball corpses into his loot space. "What do we do now? There are no floating islands above us. Should we create another platform?"
Ethan also collected some alienated eyeballs with long legs. For him, Abyssal products were all excellent materials.
"No need. This structure is currently ascending."
Lin Ye had noticed earlier that after dealing with the long worms, the building beneath their feet had begun moving upward.
"...It really is. I actually didn't notice that."
Ethan was somewhat surprised. Although the gravity here was chaotic, he had completely failed to notice such an obvious directional change.
"I didn't notice either. This place isn't quite right..."
Xia La quickly put away her cloak. The garment struggled continuously in her hands, seemingly unwilling to be stored away.
"This place connects to the deepest layers of the Abyss. Abnormal phenomena are bound to occur here. I even suspect the building might have flipped over. If that's the case, we're currently falling toward the deepest layers of the Abyss."
Richard looked up at the dark sun above. He didn't know whether that thing was actually an exit. The information came from Ethan, and Ethan was a follower of the Abyssal Evil God.
"I'm quite certain we haven't changed direction. What I'm worried about is whether we can reach the top in time."
Lin Ye determined direction through his five senses and mental energy. If this Abyssal relic could affect even these perceptions without leaving any flaws, then they might be trapped here until death.
"We should be able to make it in time. I've collected intelligence about some people escaping this place. Those people still had to adapt to the gravity here, so they couldn't possibly be faster than us."
Ethan didn't think they would be slower than those people.
"That's good. I definitely don't want to go to the deepest layers of the Abyss."
Richard wrapped several layers of bandages around himself. The bandages' hemostatic effect was quite excellent.
The four of them rested on the rooftop for a while. Ten minutes later, the building's ascent speed suddenly slowed down.
A massive shadow appeared above their heads—a human corpse as enormous as a mountain range, with a huge penetrating wound slightly left of center on the body.
Aside from being much larger, the corpse looked no different from a normal human.
"The building is about to start falling. Grab onto my lower legs. I'll take you all up."
When the building began to fall, the distance between them and the giant corpse was less than thirty meters. At this distance, Lin Ye could easily fly up relying on spiritual energy propulsion.
After preparing, Lin Ye grabbed the eyeball dogs and Xia La as he took off, with his two lower legs respectively carrying Ethan and Richard.
Although they were pulled off course by gravity for a distance, the four of them eventually successfully landed on the front side of the giant corpse.
"...What part of the body is this?"

Although they had deviated somewhat from the intended landing spot, it was still within Lin Ye's control.

Ethan and Richard also noticed those things. They stumbled along as they followed Lin Ye in running.
No one wanted to get close to things that had crawled out from inside a giant corpse.
