Chapter 243: Familiar Summoned Creatures
"Alright, do you need me to help with any other preparations?"
Jessica remained dependable as always.
"No, just come back as quickly as possible."
Lin Ye took some weapons from Jessica's bag. He needed to go to the surface layer to kill villagers as sacrificial offerings. Only this way could he ensure there were enough offerings.
But he couldn't waste too much time on the surface layer either, because his total activity time outside was limited.
He had to manage the time consumption between both sides himself.
Jessica didn't waste words, directly taking her weapons and squeezing into the crevice leading to the inner layer space. Lin Ye hurriedly crawled into the fissure leading to the surface layer space—he needed to help Jessica control the Limb Giant Monster.
Once reaching the surface, Lin Ye quickly climbed back to ground level, then began shooting nearby villagers. He had already memorized the entire terrain of Night Inscription Village, so even without using a flashlight, he could easily locate the villagers' dwellings in the darkness.
After killing all the nearby villagers, Lin Ye crawled back into the cave, returning to the underground space with movements and speed completely inhuman. He utilized Dylan's body flexibility to its absolute limit.
"You're finally back! Everything's ready over there, do you need to rest for a while?" Caroline was extremely anxious, but she didn't dare rush Lin Ye, afraid he might fail the summoning.
Jessica didn't say much—dealing with those villagers didn't even count as a warm-up for her.
"I need you to go to the surface layer and help me control those limbs. Just stay outside the crevice. If there's no one on the surface layer, I'll die in the inner layer."
Lin Ye said to Jessica.
"Okay."
Jessica still didn't waste words. Since she had already decided to trust Lin Ye, she would cooperate to the very end.
"Wait! Aren't you two progressing too quickly? How do you know those things won't attack you if someone's on the surface layer?"
Caroline watched as the two were about to leave again and couldn't help speaking up.
"You're the one who told me all the information. It's just simple deduction. If you used your brain a little, you wouldn't ask such a stupid question."
Lin Ye couldn't explain the source of his information, so he could only attribute it to deduction.
Caroline thought seriously for a moment. She had indeed provided relevant information, but something didn't seem quite right.
While Caroline was thinking, Lin Ye had already climbed up to the inner layer ground.
There lay piles of heavily damaged villagers.
Lin Ye took out his rifle and began sweeping the area, killing all the villagers in less than a minute.
Next were the Oversized Villagers. Lin Ye had already killed them more than once, and this time he dispatched them even more skillfully.
After finishing off the Oversized Villagers, the Special Ability still hadn't triggered. Lin Ye could only use grenade clusters through the cracked ground to kill the Limb Giant Monster.
Just as Lin Ye thought this simulation had failed again, low murmurs echoed in his ears, and thick white mist began drifting through Night Inscription Village.
Giant tendril-like archways flickered in and out of view within the dense fog.
Those tendrils remained completely motionless, like some kind of alien structures planted there.
Black threads hung down from the tendrils, each thread's end connected to a human silhouette.
The silhouettes wandered near the tendrils, emitting murmurs incomprehensible to humans.
'Damn, it's actually the Parasitic Gate!'
Lin Ye thought about the Special Ability's notes. The offerings he had presented were indeed all parasitic creatures, so the appearance of the Parasitic Gate wasn't surprising.
What worried Lin Ye wasn't the Parasitic Gate itself, but was the Sacrificial Rite really only pointing to the Parasitic Gate?
He feared those tendril archways would open. He feared what he might see behind the gates.
The tendril archways reached straight into the sky, and a massive shadow appeared above the archways. Writhing black flesh threads descended from above, one of them connected to the top of Lin Ye's head.
This thread had been connected there even before Lin Ye entered Night Inscription Village.
Just as Lin Ye was about to kill the nearest silhouette before being controlled, a slender small hand reached out from underground, grabbed Lin Ye's right foot, and pulled him into the underground space.
"Thank me. If I hadn't pulled you back, you would have already been controlled by that dangerous entity."
Caroline didn't actually want to save Lin Ye, but what he had summoned felt even more terrifying than that dangerous entity. She didn't want to face that ghostly thing, so she had no choice but to help Lin Ye.
"Thanks, I'll remember you. Should I burn incense for you in the future?"
Lin Ye asked politely.
"Wait! What do you mean by that?"
Caroline shook Lin Ye's right foot a couple of times.
"As an amateur cultist, let me share an industry insight with you: sacrificial rituals are usually uncontrollable... Sorry, I didn't know I'd summon the Parasitic Gate either."
Lin Ye felt this simulation mission was secured. That dangerous entity probably wasn't a match for the Parasitic Gate—the two didn't feel like they were on the same level. Moreover, what he summoned this time likely wasn't just the Parasitic Gate alone.
But after the Parasitic Gate dealt with the dangerous entity, it would probably take them along as well, since he was the one who used the Special Ability.
"Don't scare me! I've only been born for less than a year, I don't want to die in a place like this!"
Caroline said excitedly.
"Then you'd better stay away from me... or stay close to me. After all, I'm the summoner—I don't know how the Parasitic Gate will treat me either."
Lin Ye thought about card creatures. This was something summoned using the Special Ability after all, and he had no idea what would happen next.
"Can't we escape right now?"
The surrounding Spiritual Energy Concentration was gradually increasing. Jessica wouldn't just sit there waiting to die.
"Those giant archways and silhouettes are everywhere outside now. Even if you returned to normal levels, it wouldn't matter! This isn't something mid-level spiritual energy users can handle!"
Caroline could sense the situation outside.
"This is the Parasitic Gate from inside the Great Hollow. Does the organization have methods to deal with this thing?"
Lin Ye looked at Jessica and asked.
"I've never handled abnormal incidents related to the Great Hollow."
Jessica absorbed the surrounding spiritual energy, preparing for the upcoming battle.
"You've been to the Great Hollow? I don't even dare go near that place."
Caroline was also absorbing spiritual energy, preparing to escape later.
"I've been to many places. The Great Hollow is just one of them."
Lin Ye was also absorbing spiritual energy. If events developed in the worst possible direction, he had to make corresponding preparations in advance.
'Sigh, this body is too weak... Luckily the spiritual energy concentration here is gradually increasing... But it's too late now.'
Lin Ye suddenly looked at Caroline and said:
"Can you bring in the weapons from Jessica's car?"
"What do you want to do? Those low-tier weapons can't possibly be effective in a battle of this level."
Caroline looked strangely at Lin Ye. She could indeed bring in that garbage, but it would waste the energy she needed for escaping.
"Besides, those weapons are all scrapped. They wouldn't be usable even if we got them."
Jessica added.
"It doesn't matter. Hurry up and bring them over! Whether we live or die depends on that batch of scrapped weapons!"
Lin Ye said urgently.
