Decaying World

Chapter 375

Qunyin Garden, Yin-Yang Pavilion.

Deep within an ancient underground palace, thirty meters beneath the surface.

A wolf-headed man in gray embroidered robes stood with a frown, staring down the Pavilion Master across from him.

"So you're truly telling me that not a single drop of this year's Light Soul Water can be handed over?"

"Lord Lan Xiao, the Light Soul Water was plundered in its entirety by that mysterious man. We have nothing left to give," the Pavilion Master said, his voice straining under the weight of the admission.

"And who exactly is this mysterious man?" Lan Xiao asked, his voice dropping low.

"We don't know. Only that his strength is immense—his power and speed alike, absolutely terrifying. His magic power is nearly nonexistent, yet his raw destructive force was so savage we had no time to react, let alone resist." The Pavilion Master spoke truthfully, having already received Lin Hui's instructions beforehand. He feared the higher-ups might possess some means of detecting deception. Staying close to the truth was the surest way to slip through unscathed.

"If that is the case, I cannot answer to the Branch Court on your behalf—that explanation will have to come from you directly. When the agreement was signed, you pledged Light Soul Water as the price for joining the Court of Benevolence and Righteousness. In exchange, the Court would extend its protection over you. But now..." Envoy Lan Xiao shook his head, turning away in open disappointment as he moved toward the exit.

"Protection?" The brainwashed Pavilion Master's expression twisted. "What protection has the Court of Benevolence and Righteousness ever actually provided my Yin-Yang Pavilion? From the moment we signed that contract, we've handled every crisis ourselves. Beginning to end, the Court has been nowhere to be found."
