A gentle breeze swept past, thickening into wisps of grayish-blue current. Motes of purple starlight drifted and scattered within the streams—the last remnants of star power, diffusing in all directions.

"It seems I'm not too late."

"Lin Hui." Emperor Suo's voice rolled low and even. "We never sought you out, and yet here you are, invading of your own accord. Letting you live all these years was a mistake." The countless chains encircling him coiled back against his body.
