Chapter 322
The restaurant sat directly on the clouds and mist, unsupported by floating islands, dirt, or stone. No array pulsed beneath it—there was no telltale fluctuation of an active formation. It seemed forged from the same ethereal substance as the mist itself, hovering motionless without need of buoyancy.
Lin Hui narrowed his eyes, confirming Xie Chang'an's information. This was the place. With their next scheduled contact still over two days away, he was on his own.
He surveyed Tianyun Residence carefully. Its exterior walls were a dark, mottled red, faded in patches; from a distance, it resembled a slightly crooked box. The building stood three stories tall, with four windows on both the second and third floors—some ajar, some shut tight.
Peering through the open windows, he saw only quiet emptiness. Lin Hui held his distance, sitting cross-legged in midair to restore his depleted mind-spirit. Several minutes later, once he reached his peak, he closed in slowly.
He moved at a crawl. Any place troublesome enough to trap Xie Chang'an warranted extreme caution. Fifty meters out, he stopped again.
"Can you understand me?" He projected his voice outward. Tianyun Residence didn't stir. Only the wind howled around him.
"If you can, give me a sign." Still nothing.
"You don't understand, then." Lin Hui gave a slight nod. Without another word, he thrust a palm forward. Boom! A massive translucent palm crashed down onto the building, fingers curving to close around it. The activation sigil of the Heavenly Father Seal blazed to life. Formless source force drawn from the Immortality Sect Master poured through an unseen rift and enveloped the restaurant.
It really is alive. Realization surfaced in Lin Hui's eyes. This had been a test. The Heavenly Father Seal could only target moving, living things—a peculiarity that let him use his own energy as a life-detecting radar.
