Sinner System

Chapter 624: Welcome Back

"Hm? Oh, it’s you, Ciel, didn’t recognize you. What’s going on with your appearance?" I inquired in bemusement.

Her hair and eyes, they’re the same color as Rex’s was.

"It’s Spirit Fusion, I can use it too. Though, that’s thanks to my System, not sure how she did it," Responded Cleo, before adding as she glanced at Ciel, "By the way, you never said what kind of Spirit you linked with. I got a Vampire, by the way, and I can still summon two more."

"My Spirit, huh? Think it’ll be easier to show than tell," Replied Ciel, a cheerful smile on her face.

The glow of her body sharply intensified, before separating from her, her hair and eyes returning to their normal color, before the glow began to take shape, in the form of a humanoid figure.

Huh? Wait, how is this...?

"Wha...? Is that...?" Trailed off Aria, a stunned look on her face.

"<Hey, guys>."

"Rex is back! Best day ever!" Grinned Ciel, as she pulled him into a tight hug, before planting a barrage of kisses on his forehead.

"What-...? How?" I blurted out in bewilderment.

"No clue, but I don’t care!"

"<I can explain if you let go of me for a sec>."

"No way, I’m never letting go of you ever again!"

"<This is embarrassing...>."

Yeah, that’s definitely him. Seriously, though, how?

I’m obviously not complaining, just having some trouble wrapping my head around this. But, before I bombard him with questions...

"Welcome back, man. Not sure what’s going on, but it’s awesome seeing you again," I remarked with a smile.

"Mhm, yeah, welcome back. Never thought we’d ever see you again, glad to be proven wrong," Added Aria warmly.

"Um, yeah, what they said," Nodded Cleo awkwardly.

"Huh? Oh, come on, thought we were past this," Huffed Ciel, as she glanced at Cleo.

"H-Hey, I can’t help it...," Muttered Cleo in response.

"<Okay, that’s enough>," Sighed Rex, turning intangible and slipping out of Ciel’s grasp.

"Aw, no fair, I’m not satisfied yet..."

"<I can feel all the questions you guys have got bottled up, so I’ll just get right to it and explain. After I died, I met this God or something, called themself Samsara.

They told me my soul isn’t compatible with reincarnation, but gave me the option to put my soul in stasis so that I’d be able to talk to Ciel one last time after she passes on. Apparently, that was the only way I’d ever get to speak with her again>."

I see, so like what my mom did.

"<But earlier, they took my soul out of stasis and told me the situation had changed. They said Ciel and you guys had been summoned to another world, and that they’d be able to transfer me into this world as a Spirit, and make sure that I get summoned by Ciel.

She implanted knowledge of what it means to be a Spirit in my head too. Though, I’m a bit different to other Spirits. Normally, when the user dies, their linked Spirits simply return to the Spirit Realm. But in my case, when Ciel dies, I will too>," He explained, before adding, "<By the way, exactly how long has it been since I died>?"

"About three months or so," I informed him.

So, he’s a Spirit now. He feels somewhat similar to the Apostles, but also different somehow. It’s hard to put into words.

"<Oh, that’s not too bad>."

"Easy for you to say," Frowned Ciel indignantly, before pulling him into another hug and ruffling his hair with a grin.

"So, um, shouldn’t we go look for Jaden now too?" Spoke up Cleo.

"Well, with the time dilation in here, we don’t need to rush. One day in here is one minute out there. Cleo, Ciel, share everything you’ve found out about this world so far. I captured and interrogated three men earlier, but I might have overlooked something," I remarked objectively.

"I mean, I really haven’t learned much. I met a nice girl who told me about the Magic of this world, she even gave me a scroll to summon Spirits for free. That’s how I summoned Rex. Oh, also, this world-...or at least, this nation...-is really sexist," Responded Ciel with a frown.

"Oh, yeah, I can attest to that too," Nodded Cleo in agreement.

"Sounds like you two had some unpleasant encounters out there, sorry you had to go through that," I replied sympathetically.

"We experienced that too, they were super condescending towards me. But they’re all dead now, except for the three we interrogated," Added Aria with a wry smile, before adding, "By the way, what does Spirit Fusion feel like?"

"I felt this immense surge of power, and I was able to use my Spirit’s abilities pretty easily, I got this sort of instinctive understanding of how to use it.

Also, the Spirit I summoned is supposed to be one of the most powerful type of Spirits, she has a Power Level of 1,500,000. Based on what she told me, a Power Level of around 2,000,000 seems to be the ceiling of how high individual Power Levels in this world scale.

That said, Spirit Fusion directly adds the Spirit’s stats onto the user’s, except for MP. So, the most powerful level of threats we’re likely to encounter in this world should be around the 4,000,000 mark, at most," Deduced Cleo thoughtfully.

"Wish I could see my abilities displayed in numerical form like that, sounds so convenient. The first part of what you said was a bit different for me, though. Rex was in full control of his intangibility power, so I just focused on my explosions. Oh, I almost forgot! I can use Wind Magic now too!"

"Wait, what? How?" Responded Cleo curiously.

"Right, the guys we interrogated mentioned that. Summoned Heroes get one of the eight types of Elemental Magic of this world when summoned. The Sinner System rejected that for me and Aria, though."

"Oh. I guess my Monster System must have done the same thing," Cleo sighed wistfully.

"Uh, can’t you already use every element, thanks to the Skills you acquired from Monsters?" Aria reminded her.

"Yeah, but maybe this world’s Elemental Magic is different in some way."
