Chapter 297 – Brutes VS Golem Dungeon – Part 5.
[About half a year ago.]
"Dude. I think you should use poisons." – said Porai.
"?"
{"Poisons?"} – asked Thauma.
"I mean... Yeah?" – replied Porai as she and Thauma were working on several different kind of bombs, both magical based and gunpowder based.
"Honestly speaking, these bomb hound golems of yours are quiet problematic and annoying for enemies."
"Not only they also sent around the freaking parts of their body like shrapnel and also sent these freaking spikes you added to them."
"It is quiet deadly weapon."
"A fast moving suicidal enemy can obviously make enemy panic and what not."
"But what if the enemy has a counter it?"
"Honestly speaking, your golems focus too much on performance."
"Speed."
"Attack power."
"Endurance."
"And what not."
"You need a surprise." – said Porai as without warning or noticing, a liquid metal appeared behind Thauma and wrapped around the neck of the golem.
"Surprise." – said Porai as she retracted her liquid metal.
"Honestly speaking, I know how make weapons, but wars aren’t really my main specialty."
"However, I can tell you this."
"Being too much predictable can punch you."
"I’ve had my own share of battles, so I can tell you this with confidence."
"Sometimes you need to be annoying to the enemy or maybe try to strike them in different way."
"For example, I can use my ice magic to freeze the enemy in place, making them unable to dodge."
"Get it?"
{"I do. I use traps myself to confuse and scare the enemies myself, so I know about this tactic."}
"Good. It is honestly perfect that you do."
"And that is where the poison comes into the play."
"Your golems, they are not living beings and because of that they are somewhat faulty when it comes responding and thinking."
"But at the same time, since they are not real living beings, that means you could do something nasty."
"For example, make explosives that are not about causing destruction, but instead about spreading a poison."
"This will definitely caught off guard any bastards that will think that they are dealing with just regular explosives."
[Back to the present.]
(Porai said that I should add the production of the poison type golems as soon as possible, since things started being way more chaotic outside... And it’s a good idea that I’ve did that.) – thought Thauma as the poison was spreading throughout the battle field.
[Bomb Hound Golem – Type Poison]
[A suicidal type golem that main weapon is its self-detonation. However unlike like the basic model, the poison model unleashes a cloud of poison instead of explosive blast.]
[The poison specializes in inflicting paralyze as well destructive type poison that deals damage to the living beings while also numbing their body.]
(Researching how to make potions wasn’t exactly an easy task per say.)
(Not only that, I also needed to learn how to make t explode like this, creating that sort of cloud upon its detonation.)
(Still, it was worth it. Developing and researching how to use poisons.)
(But again... I was planning on using them in different way from the start.)
(In case the enemy manages to reach my soldiers, I would unleash the poison type to stop the enemy in place and then have my forces surround them.)
(That was the original plan... But-)
(Fuck me.)
(It is hard to keep things under control.)
"..."
"You got be fucking kidding me." – said Gerald as the golems walked over the corpses of his fallen comrades.
(First long-range explosives.) – thought Gerald.
(Then freaking suicidal golems.)
(And now freaking poison?!)
(WE HAD NO INFORMATION ABOUT ANY OF THESE!)
(Shit. Now I’m not so sorry about wasting the demons so soon.)
(But then again... This isn’t good.)
(The enemy split their forces to protect the dungeon from all directions.)
(This is definitely not their full military strength... Just yet that is.)
(We shouldn’t had been facing any losses before we started facing much larger numbers.)
(But this?) – thought Gerald as he looked at one of the corpse.
"That poison seems to have a paralyzing effect." – said Gerald as the cavalry model golems started running.
"it was one of those explosive dogs too! So, watch out!"
"There is a chance that there is more poison using golems in the mix! Be on guard!" – shouted Gerald as the centaury wolf combination golems swung around one of its polearms, forcing Gerald on defense as he blocked the series of blow which was launched with polearms which were launched by the knight part of the cavalry golem, while the bottom part, the hound part, tried unleashing its claws and fangs at the man.
However, Gerald already destroyed the boss version of that golem, so it shouldn’t be ANY problem with destroying the cavalry golem assaulting him.
...
But that wasn’t the case.
Gerald... No.
It was all the members of the Brutes, all 3 groups.
They were fighting far more defensive now.
The explosive weapons and poison that they were not aware of had now put them on high alert.
They somehow managed to endure the explosives, suffering some injuries, but no lethal ones.
However, the moment the poison appeared, all 3 groups ended up receiving their very first casualties.
They were caught off guard way too many times and now they were wary of yet another new weapon.
"Hey! Can’t you use wind magic to deal with the poison!?" – shouted the female hooded mage as she was unleashing her thunder magic.
"I can blow it away! But what about buffs?! The Running With Wind effect had ended some time ago!" – shouted the younger brother.
"Forget it!" – shouted the older brother.
"Focus on projectiles! If they start throwing bombs at us again while poison is spreading, we will get 100% fucked!"
(They are right.) – thought Gerald as he swung around his axe, knocking back the cavalry golem and dealing a critical damage to it... But not going for the finisher as he was wary that it could be a trap.
"Tch!"
"Ah... What the pain in the ass."
(Honestly, at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if even those non dog golems were also bombs or had ability to self-detonate in order to hit us with poison.) – thought Gerald as he went for the legs of the creature, destroying them as it was trying to get up, resulting in the cavalry golem losing all of its mobility.
"FOCUS ON DESTORYING THEIR MOBILITY! WE DON’T KNOW IF THEY HAVE ANY NEW TRICKS UP THEIR SLEEVE!" – shouted Gerald, warning his comrades about possible fourth surprise.
...But honestly speaking, things started looking grim.
The enemy was strong, that was the fact.
They had already destroyed a good number of hound and cavalry golem in short span of time while also being able to endure a power.
Even when the explosions started raining down on them or even when the bomb hounds started blowing up in their faces, they still didn’t suffered casualties.
Even though they were not facing all of them golems at once, they were still able to survive all of this.
And Thauma realized that these enemies had a CHANCE.
This obviously made Thauma extremely nervous.
...
But now?
The enemy suffered their first casualties as they were caught off guard by the poison explosion.
And situation now turned around to the alarming rate.
Normally, in battles nobody would truly use THOSE kind of poisons, since they could straight up friendly fire their comrades.
However, the golems being a nonliving begins were completely immune to the poison that was spreading around.
That means the golems could fight inside of the poison without any trouble.
But what about wind mages?
They had them, then why not just blow the poison away with it?
True.
They can do that.
But what if the enemy start bombarding them once again with range attacks while they are dealing with poison?
They would get straight up shot without any protection.
There are also the bomb launchers and ballistae golems in mix too.
The demons may had stopped the enemy from unleashing their long-range attacks, but what if the enemy split up their focus? What if the long-range golems move away from the demons and aim once again at the invaders?
If that were to happened, the result would be really simple.
FUCKED
They knew that if they screw up the timing, that if they were to try and get rid of the poison smoke when they should be protective against the projectiles, it would end up in disaster.
Ballistae bolt would just pierce right thought the bodies while the bombs would rip them apart.
The fact alone that the enemy can still sent out their fast-moving forces also proves that the enemy is solei focusing on the demons.
"..."
(Honestly speaking, this isn’t... No. Let’s not beat around the bush.) – thought Gerald as he sent flying the hound golem, smashing it into the cavalry golem... Before then noticing another cloud of poison appearing nearby.
(We will die.)
(We are stronger than golems and if they didn’t had these explosives and poisons, we could had destroyed the whole dungeon and escaped in time, while suffering minimal casualties.)
(But... Not only we were forced to use the demons much earlier, but we also suffered some casualties already.)
(Then also comes the running away after beating the dungeon.)
"..."
"Nope."
"Fuck it."
"DEN!" – shouted Gerald.
"WHAT?!" – shouted the mage Den as he was using his water and fire magic to keep away the hound golems from approaching him.
"TRIPLE FLARE!" – shouted Gerald.
"!?"
"WAIT! TRIPLE!? ARE YOU FUCKING NUTS!?" – shouted Den with visible fear present on his face.
"THEY WILL FUCKING KILL US! YOU KNOW!"
"FUCK IT! YOU KNOW AS WELL AS ME HOW OUR CURRENT SITUATION IS!" – shouted Gerald.
"We came unprepared and both of us know what will happened next."
"So shut the fuck up and do it!" – shouted Gerald as he rushed at the golems Den was fighting, keeping them at bay and giving the mage to cast his spell.
"..."
"For fuck’s sake!" – said Den as he looked up
[Fire Magic: Firework]
The mage fired in the sky 3 sparking sphere of fire into the sky, which ended exploding and unleashing a three eye catching spectacle of fireworks, which caught attention of both of the invader groups... As well as Porai who was running towards the army of golems as well as the scout golem which Thauma was using.
(Oh, what the fuck now?!) - thought both the golem and the vampire.
