Chapter 189 - 188: Staying at the frozen land 2
They also needed to observe at nighttime, so they couldn’t just set up a tent far away as they needed to continue what they’re doing. And he wasn’t uncomfortable to the degree that he would be sick, so he didn’t say anything at all.
"I understand, but if you’re even a bit uncomfortable in the future, be sure to tell me. I’ll do my best to make you more comfortable."
"Ok," Ryzel said and then nodded. However, he surely won’t tell Layton about anything that could just be trivial things and doesn’t really need attention.
He wasn’t that fragile as to not even be able to endure such a degree of discomfort. Since he had already agreed, Layton didn’t say any further.
Since the tent was already set up, he and Layton began setting up all the things that they needed inside.
They arranged their bed, their kitchen tools, clothes, and all the other things that they needed daily.
He had also set up his small laboratory at the side, which he had made as his laboratory in the past.
After arranging everything, Ryzel sat on the sofa to rest while Layton went to cook their dinner.
With the speed that Storm had used, they only used a few hours to look all around the planet.
In fact, Storm could even speed up further and they’ll probably be able to look all around in just minutes.
But they didn’t do that because they wouldn’t be able to see and understand a lot of things, and Storm would only be able to collect a little information on the lands that they passed by.
So, Layton obviously just chose a speed that would let them be able to observe more things to gather more data while already traveling fast; that’s why they were able to do it for just a few hours and had a lot of time left before dinner.
They still have time before dinner, so Layton was finally able to cook. In the past two weeks that they had spent observing others, they only drank nutrient solution as they were staying in Storm’s cockpit, so Ryzel also missed the cooking of Layton. Layton cooked their food quickly and Ryzel thoroughly enjoyed his food.
"It seems that we should have lessened the time for observing those people," Layton commented after seeing him enjoy his food.
"What are you talking about? We spent that time observing them because it was needed."
"Yes, but next time I’ll plan it more thoroughly so that you can eat a proper meal daily."
"No need. Drinking nutrient solution isn’t that bad. Besides, it had only been two weeks.
I’ll just eat more of the food that you’ll cook in the next few days to satisfy my cravings for delicious food," Ryzel said with a smile.
Sometimes, he really thinks that Layton is being too worried about him.
Ryzel couldn’t deny that it actually feels good to have someone always thinking and worrying about his well-being, but he still thinks that Layton was really worrying too much. But since Layton was really thinking about him, he couldn’t do much about it.
"By the way, how is your detection of the energy source that we saw?" Ryzel said to divert their conversation to something else and not about his needs to eat what Layton prepared daily even when they have important things to do.
"Those crystals have a high-level energy content and have a high similarity to the energy that we are already using. So those crystals are already compatible with the things that we are using and we could use most of them even without going through processing; they only need to be inside the extractor and converter of the energy box, then they could already be used as fuels."
"That’s great! At least we finally found something that we can certainly use. Then, did you manage to detect how many crystals are there in this area?"
"In this area, I managed to detect 20 tons of those crystals, but there might be more in a deeper place."
"Oh, it’s only 20 tons. Then we will only get 10 tons since you only wanted to collect half. Then are we going to search more if there are some more in this frozen land?"
"Yes, we will search more after I and Storm finish digging those 10 tons of crystals. Since this place has such crystals, there might be more in other places here but just deeper underground; that’s why Storm didn’t manage to detect it while we were flying above."
"I see. So, we are just going around this place later after you manage to get half of the energy crystals here.
If we are going, they could also collect some samples of those few plants that are living here."
Even though the place they were in is only a vast frozen land, there were still a few plants that were still alive even in such extreme cold weather.
"Ok," Layton said in agreement.
They continued talking more about the things that they saw around the planet even after they finished their meal.
However, Layton interrupted their chat when he knew that he had already rested enough.
An hour after their meal, Layton stopped him from talking by kissing him and then said, "It’s already time for bedtime. We can continue talking about other things tomorrow."
They had mostly stayed in Storm’s cockpit and they had been observing others even at nighttime, so they hadn’t had deeper physical exchange aside from kissing each other.
When they were living at the mountain range—even though they weren’t doing it almost continuously as they did when he was in a strange condition—they would still do it at least 2 or more times a day, as they would do it 1 or more times in the morning and two or more at night depending on their mood.
Whenever they had their kisses in the past two weeks, Ryzel actually wanted to have more, just like Layton, as it’s very obvious in his eyes; unfortunately, they still have important things to do, so they would only kiss each other before he goes to rest.
